i.e.

will he touch these records:

Darin Erstad's .355 batting average in a season

Jason Thompson's .439 OBP% in a season

Troy Glaus's .604 slugging % and 47 HR's

Don Baylor's 139 RBI

Jason Thompson's 167 OPS+

Vlad guerrero's 28 IBB's

will Pujols break any of these in his career with the Angels?

I would say if he has a chance of any of those records it would be for obp.

I don't think that Pujols is past his peak. I.e, last year was simply an off year caused by an injury. Thus, I think Pujols has a shot at the following records: OPS of 1.024, OPS+ of 167, HR of 47, runs scored of 124, slug% of .604, WAR of 8.1, and oWAR of 7.4. The over/under for me on records Pujols will break is 3. The lineup that Pujols will be in will be much better than before, particularly with a DH in the lineup now. Thus, he'll get more plate appearances.

Probably not BA, quite possibly OBP (maybe even the most likely), maybe slugging, HR, possibly but not likely, RBI, prolly not, OPS+ good chance (I mean his worst season was 150...), IBB, a possibility as he has topped that total several times, let's see how good he is and how badly he scares pitchers.

Better lineup? really? I didn't figure the angels lineup to be particularly good. despite havin no DH the Cards had an OPS+ which was more than ten points higher than the angels. they also had very good hitters around albert (holliday and berkman).

the angels lineup is deep but they don't really have any star hitters besides albert.

also albert is older now, playing in a pitchers park in a pitchers league against better opponents. all those factors might lower his stats.

The .604 Slugging % and the 167 OPS+ are breakable ones. He's had a lot of seasons with numbers higher than those two.

The others records may be too much, especially the Batting Average, OBP, and HR.

Just looked up his last season and realized that he was 6 2B away for tying the Angels single season record of 56! I had no idea he had 50 2Bs last year. Good job Albert! I think it is quite possible that he can at least tie if not break Glaus' record of 47 HR, and Baylor's 139 RBI, especially with Trout and company batting ahead of him. I would've thought he could easily take the OBP, SLG, and OPS+ too, and he may yet if he bounces back after that "off" year in 2012. He is just an amazing hitter that I won't put anything past him. He is in a very deep lineup now, but has had that type of protection and production before in St. Louis with guys like Jim Edmonds, Scott Rolen, Larry Walker, Mark McGwire, Matt Holliday, and Lance Berkman, among others at various times. It will be real interesting to see how the Angels do this coming season. I expect Albert will have another huge season, and a few more to come. Any of those single season records could be his, and if he does indeed take down Salmon's all time HR mark of 299 then he could be the next HR King of baseball, being that he would be at 745 I think he could take down Bonds' record. It could happen. This guy seems to be able to do anything with a bat in his hands! Enjoy, Angels fans!
