Les Layton played for the Giants in 1948, serving as a bench player. In 63 games, he hit .231 with two home runs, 14 runs scored and 12 RBI. His two dingers came off pretty good pitchers: Bill Voiselle and Johnny Schmitz, respectively.

Jack Harshman actually passed away last August, but his death wasn't mentioned here. He had stints with the Giants in 1948, 1950 and 1952. In 1950, he had only four hits in 32 at-bats, but two of those hits were home runs. Talk about making them count!

HARSHMAN, Jack, 86, retired baseball player, of Georgetown died Saturday. Survived by wife Virginia. Services pending with Ramsey, Georgetown.
