I do chem research (I was working with butanol and other alcohols), and the idea for the thread came while I was waiting for a reaction to cool down and I was discussing the Red Sox's season with my lab partner, and he compared it to the Yankees' 1998-2000 run. The actual baseball research came after work.

I don't recommend any work with chemicals to anyone, unless they like long hours at the lab and massive writeups. But there is a lot of time in between experiments, in which I usually talk sports with fellow lab partners.

As a huge Mets and Knicks fan I feel like the teams should be giving me a grant for my alcohol related research.
