"Plays" just means that he's still active, NOT that The Babe is also.

That's like some years ago, when a sportswriter was asked what Cobb would hit if he were playing now (at that time), the writer answered (if I recall correctly), "About .308". When the response was that the greatest hitter of all time would only hit .308, the writer answered, "Remember, he's 73 years old".

When I saw this thread, I thought it was going to be Babe Ruth vs. Nolan Ryan. "Interesting," I thought, "perhaps the best hitters ever vs. a highly rated, if overrated, pitcher." An interesting comparison indeed, especially since it's hard to compare batters and pitchers.
