i played for the tigers when cobb couldn't and his colleagues wouldn't - also snuck in their with the depleted mackmen - but you know me best for my fists and nefarious connections

Billy Maharg (Graham spelled backwards) played 3B for the Tigers on May 18, 1912 along with other amatuer players when the regular Tigers team refused to play in protest of Ty Cobb's suspension.
Maharg was the only player from that game who played in the majors again. In 1916 he played one game for the Phillies.
Don't know anything about his other connections but I believe he was somehow involved in the Black Sox scandal.

right my fault - i saw philadelphia and i wrote mack - should have paid attention
he was also a pro boxer and played an early role in the 1919 series fix, helping bill burns find financing

He was a small-time gambler who arranged one of the fixes in the Black Sox Scandal, along with somebody else named bill something. i forget the rest.
