Scott Aldred, Kelly Wunsch and Mike Flanagan are the only pitchers to do this?

They are the only pitchers to have a season in which they appeared in more than 40 games and did not notch a win, a loss, or a save. Jason Christiansen had a season with a w/l/s in exactly 40 appearances.

Tha's it. I was actually looking for pitchers with mroe than 40 appearances without a decision, but adding in "and without a save" doesn't change the list, so good enough.

For a career, Erik Plantenberg pitched in 61 games without a decision (but had 1 save). Mike Kinnunen pitched in 48 games wihtout a W/L/S

Oddly, all 6 pitchers mentioned are lefties!

On a side note, I have nearly 250 southpaw trivia tidbits on my tribute site. I invite you to stop by if you have a moment to kill.

I noticed a problem. #58, #59 and #60 are the same as #62, #63 and #64.

I don't think it's odd that they're all lefties. Lefties are more likely to be brought in to pitch to one batter in a situational setting, so they're less likely to get a decision or save.

Oh, for the love of... I knew I should've gone over the list before posting it! Thanks for the keen eye. Now if only I can find 3 more lefty tidbits to bump it back up to 250.

Do you have the fact that Terry Mullholland has the last pitcher to defeat all 30 major league teams?

Al Leiter also did it

I already have Leiter's feat on the list. Do you know for sure that he and Mulholland are the only ones to do it? If so, I'll add it under Leiter's entry (#64). Thanks for the heads up.

I'm pretty sure Curt Schilling has done it also.

Do you think he has beaten Boston?

He had one win in the AL while with Baltimore from 1988-90. Was Boston the one AL team he beat?

Or did he do it in inter-league play while in the NL from 1991 to 2003?

Thanks.

At the bottom is the splits by team. He is 1-2 vs Boston with the win coming on 6/8/2002 vs Pedro. By the way Boston is the only team that Pedro hasn't beaten yet and that could happen June 27th to the 29th when the Mets and Sox play each other.

Others that are close are:
Randy Johnson, who does not play Arizona this year, Hideo Nomo, who needs to sign with somebody if he wants to beat the Dodgers, and Dave Burba, who never had an opportunity to beat the Indians.

Well, since Leiter was the first to defeat all 30 clubs, I'll just leave it at that.

As far as bumping up the lefty trivia list to 250...done. Enjoy!

If Leiter, Mulholland, and Schilling are the only three to beat all 30 clubs, then Leiter is the only pitcher to beat all 30 clubs and lose to all 30 clubs
