View Full Version : Newsflash: Rich Hill is no good...And why does A-Ram get a pass in this town?

Let's start with A-ram, the Cub player everyone seems to love because we have been searching for a 3b-man for a long, long time to replace what Santo brought to the team. Not to mention, he was a virtual steal from the Pirates. But, how does it make him exempt from criticism? We all hear criticism about Jacque Jones and how Juan Pierre's stinking up the place (rightfully so) but we almost never hear about Aramis. Could it be, that A-ram is nothing more than a "sidekick" player? Meaning, he needs a bigger star around him to succeed? I don't think he's a star player on his own, and he'll always be a "robin", never the "batman". Not to mention, the guy is always injured, along with Wood and Prior the guy is basically made of glass.
Now on to Rich Hill. There's so many people that say "don't sell the future, don't take a risk" blah blah blah. You see, to succeed, YOU MUST take risks. Because in the end, if you choose to "play safe", you will SAFELY be a loser. This is why IMO the Cubs are losers (and those who support them not making those big trades). If you sit on your hands, you won't get anything accomplished. Hendry showed us in the beginning that he was a go-getter. Now, for some reason, he's been settling for less and very hesitant in trading our farm guys.
Rich Hill's stock is dropping everyday. Anybody still wanna keep this guy :laugh
The season's still not lost. The Cubs should make a patch-up move before D. Lee returns, and hopefully we will be primed to make a run, which then would lead us to make that big trade.

Hill should have never been on the untradeable list of Hendry, the guy is a two pitch pitcher, actually just one pitch that nasty curve. Hill is not a starter, at best he's a lefty specialist out of the pen.

Good move for the pen, as Wuertz has been electric down in Iowa as the closer. Hill will continue to pitch for the Iowa rotation, as Rusch will likely move into the starting staff again to take Rich Hill's place.

hopefully wuertz's stuff continues to shine on the big show. He needed that time in AAA since he was struggling so much up here. Looks like he dealt with it as best he could and hopefully can provide a good spark to the middle of the bullpen.

It's about time Hill got sent back down. He obviously still isn't ready. Wuertz is alright but can someone tell me why Ohman is still pitching in the majors? Everytime he warms up, I cringe at the sight. He recently hasn't struggled as much as he used to but still he needs to go.

I want to see this other kid they have. The 3'rd base who can play outfield. Whatshisname? In Iowa now right?

In Iowa Casey McGehee is at 3rd base I think.. right?

Yeah, hes hitting like .330+ now. They have a few good prospects they can bring up once they clean house.

McGehee isn't a top flight prospect, but he's a gamer and could be a future utility player in the bigs. He's always had good eye and linedrive contact with mild power, but defensively he's not sharp at the hot corner or behind the plate (slightly below average). He has to be added to the 40 man roster a week after season's end or risk being exposed to the Rule V draft again. In 43 games, he's 45 for 156 with 10 runs, 7 2B, 3 hr, 15 rbi, 15 bb, 22 k, .288/.355/.391/.746

Maybe I am missing something, or are we watching different games? :noidea The Ramirez I have seen this year has been pretty good. When it comes to batting you need some protection in the line up and the Cubs lineup has not given A-Ram the protection he needs. A-Ram is the third baseman we need as a base for the infield just like Lee is the 1st baseman we need. Yes he deserves some critism for swinging at bad pitches and being injured but everytime I check a Cubs box score I see him name (yesterday 3/4 1 double 1 rbi 1 run scored). Besides, you can go down the DL and see many big names that are hurt all throughout the league, he has played in as many games as all the top stars of the game this year (A-Rod, Pujols, Konerko, Jeter, and VGuerrero)
It's just one mans opinion but I happen to think it's right! :p

Hill looks like another Dewon Brazelton. Top starting pitcher prospect in the minors that just doesn't have enough tools to cut it in the majors.

that may be one of the best analogies ive seen in awhile. both brezelton and hill are good in the minors, but what have they done in the show?
