Hi y'all. I'm once again appealing to you for ideas for music to incorporate into the season-ending video of my son's defending champion little league team. In my personal explorations and in posts submitted when I raised the question a year ago, here are a number of possible candidates.
1. "Queen: We Are the Champions" (if they repeat as champs);
2. Whitney Houston: "One Moment in Time" (NOT to be confused with that insipid "One Shining Moment" that CBS plays at the end of the NCAA tournament;
3. Star Wars victory march theme
4. "I've Had the Time of My Life" (from the Dirty Dancin' soundtrack).
5. Rocky movies themes "Rocky Theme" and "Gonna Fly"
6. "You're The Best" by Joe Esposito
7. The theme from "The Natural"
8."Winning it All" by The Outfield
9. Dio's "Hungry for Heaven" from the "Vision Quest" soundtrack
10. Aerosmith's "Dream On"
11. "Welcome to the Jungle"
12. "Rock and Roll, Part 2" by Gary Glitter
13. Vangelis, "Chariots of Fire"
14. Steppenwolf, "Born to Be Wild"
15. Springsteen, "Born to Run"
As you can tell, I'm an old timer whose tastes tend to run toward the 70's and 80's. I'm looking for more contemporary selections that more particularly reflect the sort of upbeat, jock rock music that makes for bouncy, uplifting clips of game highlights. Your help and ideas are appreciated.

We Are The Champions is so overdone that it's hokey. Good song, just overdone.
I f**kin' LOOOOOVE Dio, but Hungry For Heaven relates more to the quest than the attainment.
The same also applies to Born To Run and Gonna Fly.
The Chariots of Fire song is good only in slo-mo.
Welcome To The Forest is only good as long as the listener either doesn't know or doesn't care about Axl Rose. I get embarassed every time I hear it.
Personally, I find the best go-nuts feel-good stadium standard is Cum On Feel The Noize. I love Quiet Riot as much as I love Dio, so I'm biased as can be, but still.

Food, thanks for the recommendations. I assume that your "Welcome to the Forest" actually refers to "Welcome to the Jungle", which has recently been co-opted as a video game theme, for one of the Grand Theft Auto titles, I believe. Good song, and I may well use it.
Gonna Fly is a bit dated and trite, but maybe it's new to the 11 year old set. That brings to mind "I Believe I Can Fly" from the Space Jam sound track, which may work as well.

Before One Shining Moment, they used to play It's Alright, by Christopher Cross at the end of the NCAA tourney.
More contemporary, Praise You by Fatboy Slim.
Perhaps Dance Dance by Fallout Boy.

It might be slightly out of the range of the above songs, but a good "Memories"-themed song would be 10,000 Maniacs "These Are Days", but one obvious choice omitted above would be "Centerfield" by John Fogerty and as a Springsteen alternative, "Glory Days" (but it does contain a reference to high school, which might make it too advanced for the LL age-group).

Not to mention the drinking references. ;) Springsteen mentions Graig Nettles in the video.

Whoops! My bad on the drinking part... but one can creatively edit around a tune to repeat good verses and/or bypass uneeded ones... (That is my secret identity in the "Real" world: audio & video editor, LOL)
Here are the lyrics for "These Are Days"
These are the days you'll remember.
Never before and never since,
I promise,
will the whole world be warm as this.
And as you feel it, you'll know it's true
that you are blessed and lucky.
It's true that you are touched by something
that will grow and bloom in you.
These are the days you'll remember.
When May is rushing over you
with desire to be part of the miracles
you see in every hour.
You'll know it's true
that you are blessed and lucky.
It's true that you are touched by something
that will grow and bloom in you.
These are days.
These are the days you might
fill with laughter until you break.
These days you might
feel a shaft of light make its way
across your face.
And when you do
you'll know how it was meant to be.
See the signs and know their meaning.
It's true, you'll know how it was meant to be.
Hear the signs and know
they're speaking to you, to you

I have a second job as a DJ. Both that song and Candy Everybody Wants are two of the songs I play before the party really gets going.

I'm from your time period too Ursa. The Washington Senators broadcasts used to open to "25 or 6 to 4" by Chicago. That always got my blood flowing and to this day, gets me ready for Baseball!

Even the non-Peter Cetera remake is good. The song, though, is nothing more than a songwriter not knowing what to write about or 3:35 or 3:34 in the morning.

I always wondered what the heck that meant. Thanks for explaining after 35 years.....or is it 34?

Brooklyn, thanks for the great tip. It's hard to find a tune that's both catchy and has appropriate lyrics, and those "These are the Days" lyrics are dead on. The melody is a bit insipid for the kids who think they're on the verge of being rock and rollers, but it's really the parents who'll treasure the highlights CD.
The one kid who's savvy about music wanted to include Disturbed's "10,000 Fists", the lyrics of which are:
Survivor
Survivor
One more goddamn day
When I know what I want
And my want will be considered tonight
Consider tonight
Just another day
When all that I want
Will mark me as a sinner tonight
I'm a sinner tonight, yeah
People can no longer cover their eyes
If this disturbs you then walk away
You will remember the night you were struck by the sight of
Ten Thousand fists in the air
Power unrestrained
Dead on the mark
Is what we will deliver tonight
Deliver tonight
Pleasure fused with pain
This triumph of the soul
Will make you shiver tonight
We'll make you shiver tonight, yeah
People can no longer cover their eyes
If this disturbs you then walk away
You will remember the night you were struck by the sight of
Ten Thousand fists in the air
We are the ones that will open your mind
Leave the weak and the haunted behind (X4)
People can no longer cover their eyes
If this disturbs you then walk away
You will remember the night you were struck by the sight of
Ten Thousand fists in the air
Ten Thousand fists in the air
Ten Thousand fists in the air
I'm not sure if grandma is ready for this.

Jake, I forgot to mention that the team's name is the Giants, and they actually wear SF Giants colors and hats.
And, you do realize that "I Love LA" is a parody that actually makes fun of Louse Angeleez, don't you?
CaptainCN, "Dance, Dance" by Fallout Boy doesn't really work lyrically. It's about a guy trying to score at a dance and ending, "Why don't you show me a little bit of spine ~ You've been saving for his mattress (love) ~ I only want sympathy in the form of you crawling into bed with me." Nice lyrics on Praise You, but a bit sparse.

Ursa, I guess you're right at that about "dance dance" haven't paid too much attention to the lyrics. How about "Ready to Go" by Republica.

Ahh, "Simply the Best" is a great tune and has a terrific refrain, but you get into the rest of the song and it just doesn't work for 11/12 y/o highlight videos:
I call you when I need you, my heart's on fire
You come to me, come to me wild and wild
When you come to me
Give me everything I need
Give me a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams
Speak a language of love like you know what it means
And it can't be wrong
Take my heart and make it strong baby
You're simply the best, better than all the rest
Better than anyone, anyone I've ever met
I'm stuck on your heart, and hang on every word you say
Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead
In your heart I see the star of every night and every day
In your eyes I get lost, I get washed away
Just as long as I'm here in your arms
I could be in no better place
You're simply the best, better than all the rest
Better than anyone, anyone I've ever met
I'm stuck on your heart, and hang on every word you say
Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead
Each time you leave me I start losing control
You're walking away with my heart and my soul
I can feel you even when I'm alone
Oh baby, don't let go
Ready to Go by Republica? Catchy tune, good title . . . but oh those lyrics. Maybe people really don't want to know what the lyrics to their favorites are...
You're weird in tears too near and too far away
He said saw red went home stayed in bed all day
Your t-shirt dish dirt
Always love the one you hurt
Ref.
It's a crack I知 back yeah I知 standing
On the rooftops shouting out
Baby I知 ready to go, I知 back and ready to go
From the rooftops shout it out
It's a crack I知 back yeah I知 standing
On the rooftops having it
Baby I知 ready to go, I知 back and ready to go
From the rooftops shout it out shout it out
You sleep too deep one week is another world
Big mouth big mouth drop out drop out
You get what you deserve
You're strange, insane, one thing you can never change
Ref.
Abused, confused, always love the one that
Hurt ya, hurt ya, hurt ya, hurt ya
It's a crack baby I知 ready to go
Baby I知 ready to go, baby I知 ready to go
Baby I知 ready to go, baby I知 ready to go
Sorry if I sound at all negative. Just trying to help pick out the best.
