That's an attempt to put the career win total on the same scale as the peak win total so that they have equal merit in considering greatness...

My own effort includes three elements, not just two, but it's a similar idea...put the elements that make up greatness on roughly the same scale and try to capture the overall look of a player's career.

I really don't see what's the big deal about it. He just chooses random numbers to make up this formula. Could I invent my own system by doing 3 year warp3 peak+careerwarp3/2 and call it "corns" ? I believe he even changed it, because his original formula took too much time to calculate.

I agree with you that he picked arbitrary numbers and made something up that kinda reflects his view of greatness...not really worth worrying about too much.
