We heard all these rumours about Smoltz for Zumaya. Now that he got recently injured, he cannot be traded.

Smoltz for Zumaya would have been a total rip. Smoltz for Bonderman and Zumaya would have been good, but they wouldn't have done that at all.

Oh yeah..like we'll gonna hand over a young guy who throws 'HEAT'
for a guy, who's in the twilight of his career..Sure Smoltz was a great
pitcher..and on certain days, still is..but his best days are behind him..

The only way you guys could get Zumaya, is at gun point...heh,heh,heh!

I'm sorry to see the braves run..end..a great run..14 seasons..but I suspect
unless you guys do a 180' and make a run..perhaps this is the time to give
some of your good young talent some time, shop a few vets, and re tool
for 2007...This team ain't as bankrupt in talent as the pirates, or nationals
can could very well start another run at division flags...

All in all..I think Zumaya would have been great in Atlanta..but not as
crazy as farnsworth..but throws as hard, if not more....

do you guys miss Farnsy ? Wonder why he left bravesdom for the zoo
in the big apple....gotta be more than sheer dollars ?

Well, all those rumors were bologna. We're keeping Smoltz no matter who's healthy or not. Smoltz is valuable as a vetern with experience and he's valuable because he's our staff ace. Plus you can always count on him for a post-season victory. Heck he's almost a lock.

Plus he's a career brave, it is an in-justice to trade him. He's one of the few big game pitchers in baseball and that is oh so valuble. Plus there is no need to trade him for some starters. Chuck James and Kyle Davies look as if they can be the next Glavine and Smoltz, plus we have Matt Harrison and James Parr waiting in the minors who look promising. And we have Huddy under contract for about 3 more years. And we could very well hold on to HoRam and Hampton for a few more years. So we are very set in the rotation. The best thing to do is hold on to Smoltzie.

Sure we do. As far as why he left for the Big Apple it is my understanding that it was due to miscommunication from his agent. Apparently his did not relay the Braves last offer to him before he had verbally commited to the Yanks. by the time he heard it he felt obligated to honor his agreement with the Yanks (dispite not having officially signed). My understanding is that had he got the offer the day before he would still be in Atlanta. I do not think anyone got their feelings hurt in the situation or even cried foul, just one of those things that happened.
