The T206 is one of the most collected vintage baseball card sets ever. Each card is like a little masterpiece of art.
The set is called The Monster by veteran collector's as to complete the entire set there are many pose and back advertising variations.
Collect a certain player, team, or advertising back to start out and go from there.
An average example of a common player in good-very good condition can be had usually for $10-$25.00...
Good Luck and Happy Collecting!

$10-$25 for G/VG is not unheard of. I would say the T206 commons average about $20-$25 in that condition. You just need to shop around, dont try to win every auction. Place a fairly low bid on many cards and a few will be had in the $10-$20 range. I used to find lots of 10 commons and win them for $100-$125 (average $10-$12). Thats the best way to get a good deal is to buy them in small lots. HOFers can be had for less than $50 as well if you shop around.
One Warning...... There are "doctored" reprints out there, especially for the bigger named players (Cobb, Matty, Johnson, etc.) get to know how the T206 cards were made and what they look and feel like. Once you know where to look, the fakes are easy to spot. The most common way to spot the reprints is to look at the border width, the caption (font style, ink color, spacing of letters), look at the back ink color and for a Factory/District # at bottom.
Good luck, you picked a great springboard vintage set. Once you get into the T206 set you will be hooked and then want to try the tougher sets. Collecting all of one team is a great idea. BTW What team is your favorite??

You can try Mike Wheat Cards (http://www.mikewheatcards.com). I trust him 100%. His raw card description is pretty accurate.
