MVP 05 shuts down

MVP 2005 shuts down after a game in owner mode. Does anyone know why? It's not in the other game modes. Or does anyone know what I can do about it.

all i did to figure out what rookies were what was go through the AAA, MLB, AA rosters looking for top 100 prospects, then looked at the MLB affiliate and position and by that its not to hard to figure out what guy is what prospect.

Never got one, or a no hitter. Almost got a perfect with Randy Johnson @ TEX in the 06 season, we went to the 9th, 1 out, and then a hit and maybe a run and so I brought in a reliver :mad:

whats the fun in that? Thats why I play on the hardest mode. Though we did win both the 05 and 06 world series, 05 vs SEA then BOS(in the ALCS) and then the giants. 06 was almost the same: SEA, then BOS then STL.

I made another team in owner mode a while ago that I dont use that often, I took the Nats and drafted players.

I'm the Sox yes, but when I got the game I was only starting out with MLB, so they are my team because now because when I got the game I had no idea about MLB really & they were World Champs so I picked them.

I'm in Owner Mode but still play at Fenway, my stadium is poo! It's great for my righties, that's probably why A-ROD has 658!! :laugh

Lineup is mainly CPU players that they created & are not real players as I have a young team:

heres how I got the people I got:


Kent: Traded Giambi for him. Giambi sucks in MVP 05 and had 2 times as large as Kents Contract. Now Barkett plays 1B vs RHP and kent at 1B vs LHP.

1B Barkett: was in farm system, moved up to MLB in the middle of the 06 season.

2B Chone Figgins: Got off of FA in 2005-06, traded Womack and VanBenshoten (who I got earlier in the season) for Damon who I traded to FLA for Beckett. in 06-07 I got Castillo off of FA and Traded Figgins, a SP and some prospects to LAD for Peavy.

M. Sheffield Got off of FA in 05 (early 05) went Right to MLB at age 17 because he had good fielding and Matsui (how ironic, he is now too) was out for almost the whole season, so I put Sheffield in. Sheffield played 152 games that year and 112 the next. His problem was his 210 avg. But now its like 347 with 5 bombs.

Edmonds, I got him after I decided to trade away Damon cause I allready had Figgins who could be the leadoff guy. And I couldnt cut Damons hair :D and Damon cant throw, so after I sent him to FLA, I planed to and I did Trade K. Brown an OF and a Prospect to STL for Edmonds.

Olivo - off of FA in 05-06

Let Bernie go on FA :( in 05-06. I didnt need his 12mil sallary to fill the bench. He currently plays for DET.

I kept Serria though, he's still here but plays AAA.

I got Oswalt by trading Mussina? I forget, and A lot of prospects. I got Santana off of FA.

I always wanted Mauer but MIN wouldnt give him up. Mauer is my favorite Catcher too (next to Posada :D )

lol not really. I just try to do everything like hit for the cycle, strike out 20 guys in a game etc. I was working on a perfect season but I lost 3 games:(. Mainly trying to do all the in-game tasks and finish off the checklist.

MVP 04 got too easy for me; I unlocked everything and got to the point where I could draft the worst player at every position in a fantasy draft, and still win the WS on MVP level, so I just simmed and signed FAs, managed my rosters, etc.

I just traded Sean Burroughs and JC Romero to Colorado for Jason Varitek and a prospect. I then traded Ivan Rodriguez (kept getting injured) to Washington for Albert Pujols. So now my line up looks like:

I wish EA came out with MVP 06 because I've pretty much done everything in this game lol, except hit for cycle and get 20 K's. It's still a fun game though.

Right now I'm trying to beat teams like the Yankees and Red Sox with minor league teams lol. I managed to beat them with the Royals lol:D :laugh :laugh

Ya that and you should be able to pick your own dimensions for your field and fence height and other things like that.

I play in the hardest difficulty level...and I've never lost more than 48 games in any season with my fantasy drafted Mariners

114-48 in '05
126-36 in '06
44-4 in '07

My sliders are set at very challenging levels too...LOL

Of course the way I do this is partially because I'm very good at making trades (fair trade mode is on...but I am good at figuring out how to get what I want)...

I go for top-notch platoons (Barrett/Olivo at C for example), underappreciated players, and high priced stars teams have on the trading block.

I've been told having the legends on the roster is "cheating" but I didn't start with any of them...I acquired them in trade, so I don't see how that's cheating...LOL

Me too, I've already said this in the other MVP thread, but I once got 21 Ks with Jake Peavy, but still lost the game 2-1 :eek:
I also hit for the cycle twice, 1st with Furcal, then with Miguel Cabrera (he went 5-5!)...

Straight stealing home is still my favourtie thing to do, I've done that 4 times, once in a W.S game!!! :D

Best stadium to hit triples in is Polo Grounds, even inside the park HRs if the ball goes over the OFs' heads, maybe if you desperately need a triple, swap the stadium for that AB...
