This is part of the hobby I love the most...getting an older former player from an era I remember and then to share him with friend.

Murcer signed my card for free....but he did send a pricelist requesting $15 to sign balls, 8 x 10's, etc. The proceeds are donated to a foundation that he has established for cancer research in memory of his brother.

I was gone from Friday 3/30 to yesterday, so these are all the ones the I got thru today...I drove from Chicago to Vegas, saw the Cubs lose to the Mariners on Saturday, at Cashman Field(didnt get an AU's, to many people, but I got a good upclose shot of Ichiro in the batting cages outside the stadium(within 10ft of him), and come good close up Zambrano pictures, than drove to Lompoc, Ca to drop my sister off to live with her new boyfriend, than flew from Santa Barbara, CA to Chicago last nite...FUN!!)

Jordan Tata (minors)

Also, for all those that specialize in old-time players, I recently bought a 1956 Virgil Trucks (former Tiger who once went 5-19 w/ 2 no-hitters, a 1-hitter, and a 2-hitter to account for 4/5 wins) and am waiting for it to arrive and was wondering if anyone has ever tried him.

Any help would be appreciated as I have had terrible luck with baseball autographs (other than Ernie Harwell).

I can't speak for current Tiger players, but Virgil Trucks has been a very good TTM signer through the years. He will most likely include a signed flyer advertising his book that you can purchase as well. Be patient. You'll get your stuff back signed from him.

I would venture to say if I went to Retrosheet.com and pulled up rosters from Tigers teams starting in, say, 1960, and on up...conservatively, my collection would exceed 400. So, there are alot out there...I can help if you need a list.

Thanks....I'll give all of them a try. I don't send cards out that often but I've had bad luck so far with baseball (HOF Lions have worked out quite well for me).

Today in the mail I got a package with a 8 x 11 customized picture with my name on it. I also got a team photo and 12 Texas Football Cards. I got all of this in only 5 days and it was mailed on Monday!

If you want cards signed then you send them MAXIMUM 3 cards (no more), if you want a ball signed then you send the ball to them. Who charges and who doesn't? Do you research here. Some charge $ while others don't.

A failure of sorts today:

Ray Jarvis returned my card with a note in about 2 months via his home address. He'll be participating in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk in September, and is asking autograph collectors to donate to the walk. I'm a big Jimmy Fund fan, so I donated $20 online and will be sending the card back to Jarvis to be signed. Jarvis is a former Red Sox and Rhode Island native (and still lives here).

Carl Erskine lives in the next town and I work at a TV station. This weekend with the Jackie Robinson anniversary we did an interview with him. While I did not ask for an autograph (very unprofessional) I did thank him for the one he sent my son and I and also thanked him for the answers to my son's questions. That's a cool story. I met former D-Back Luis Gonzalez the same way. His dad owns a restauarnt here in Tucson, so Gonzo is in all the commericals. At any rate, when we produced his last commercial, we shot a scene with Gonzo darting around the restaurant between the waitstaff during the rush hour while carrying 2 trays. The dialogue is funny, he says " Dang, I never knew I could be such a good Dodger!"

But Gonzo is super nice- he signed anything and everything in sight.

Hey, where do you guys get all these cards? I have 06 Topps and a box of 07 Fleer and that's it. A lot of these guys I've never even heard of and you have their cards.

Collecting sets over the years, and buying multiple lots on eBay is I how I have them.

Ok. It looks like I should probably wait until I live in the states to order lots off of ebay if I want to avoid high shipping costs. I'm assuming the shipping would be pretty expensive.

Well I emailed the Altoona Curve asking for a fan pack and it included the autograph of a former pitching coach named Jeff Andrews. He's now the pitching coach of the Indianapolis Indians (AAA). Pretty cool.

That I didn't know...thanks for the info. Its like I had these two pieces of "stuff' in my head concerning Reed Johnson. 1st..I knew he had a brother playing in the minors..I just couldn't come up with the name untill I went to my "baseball shed" and started to put cards away and BANG..Elliot Johnson...2ndly I knew that he did something unsuall concerning homeruns...that being he led off with a homerun in his teams half of the first and then ended the game with a walk-off..only three players have done that. But where other than baseball can you have that much fun and then share it with others...thank you..it makes his sig mean just that much more.
