Its alright DMF. I understand everyone has their own schedules. I originally wasnt going to be around the last 2 days but i lucked out and got free wireless in my hotel room.

I know a few of you guys dont like sending proxy lists, but it can really help things speed up. You dont have to send one for every round but if you look at the draft board and see that your pick may come up when you're not around sending me a list of a couple names cant hurt. Either way, its up to you guys...

thanks

Thanks for the update Wade. I realize most of the guys here are WC and that affects the timing. I feel like Disgruntled is getting a bad rep here so from now on if he goes OTC in the morning (like today) ill extend his time a bit if thats cool.

Today is my off day from college. I have classes Mon,Wed,Thu,Frid, but im able to check the draft status during lunch hours....

Again, i hate to bring it up, but sending me a list of a few players helps the process. I know everyone wants to make picks based on who's just been taken but i think its better to send a pick, rather then getting skipped and potentially missing out on the player you really wanted...

My time isn't up yet. You don't get to pick until I either make two legal picks, or my time expires.

Sorry for the confusion, but the ppl with back to back picks dont get an extra 4 hour slot. I would assume/hope you have an idea of who you want heading into the 2 picks. Im not trying to be a prick but if you pick a player that has already been chosen thats your fault and your responsibility to make the correction. Say you had left after making that pick. Should you get an extra 4 hours because of a mess up? Just trying to rationalize it...

Anyway, yes NeL stats can be used, provided you have a legit source to back them up with (i know they exist). And props because Paige is an excellent pick

I agree. We need to resolve this. As much as I'd love to have Satch, it just seems a little unfair.

Minstrel
04-17-2007, 11:35 PM
Yeah, I don't like that NeL'ers are suddenly in play, when the rules stated MLB'ers. I'd have taken Paige earlier if I thought his Negro League years were eligible.

IMO, considering most (everyone, except USAF1?) people thought NeL'ers weren't eligible, we should leave them ineligible for this draft. Wade should get to make a new pick, as should USAF1.

Wade8813
04-21-2007, 03:23 PM
I think he's auto-skipped, but I don't like that rule. With only 4 hour window, people on the ends of the draft
(*cough* me *cough*) who miss one four hour window get skipped twice. I'm pretty good about being here, but I do have a life (believe it or not). It seems a bit harsh to skip me twice when I only missed one window.

We had that rule in the All-time draft, but then again, it was also eight hour windows, instead of four hour, so you had less excuse for missing your window.

USAF1
04-21-2007, 03:49 PM
I already addressed the Disgruntled situation. I know his schedule is tough so ill give him a little extra time.

And just to clarify the only ppl that get auto-skipped are Wade and Sockeye. The reason being it doesnt take 4 hours to make back to back picks. It would be unfair if you made a pick and then for some reason left and got another 4 hours.

Everyone is on the same 4 hour window its just the guys at each end have 2 picks to make.

So anyway, ill give Disgruntaled until 7 PM EST (about 1 hour from now). If he doesnt pick by then, we'll continue on and he'll have 2 picks to make up at his leisure.

As for DMF. In previous drafts the same person wasn't allowed on the clock twice at one time. He came back and made one pick (but was on the clock for two) So the draft should move on to the next person up. Just my two cents worth. Lets keep the draft moving.

The problem I have, is if I miss one pick, then I automatically miss a second pick as well (if I understand the rules correctly). When anyone else (except Sockeye) misses a pick, they get all of the time that it takes others to pick, plus apparently an extra four hours, before they miss a 2nd pick.

USAF1
04-21-2007, 11:11 PM
We'll use Disgruntled as an example.

Lets say its the 1st rd and he comes up at noon. He gets 4 hours to pick. The 4 hours pass and he is skipped. Now its 4 pm and Sockeye goes OTC and lets just say he makes his 2 picks at 6 PM. Because there is a person picking in-between Disgrunteld his clock restarts. He now has from 6 PM until 10 to make his selection, otherwise he is skipped for the 2nd time and therefore has to make up 2 selection. The reason you or sockeye only get 4 for both, is because, well you hold back to back picks lol. There is no one seperating you. I expect that if you arrive here and see you're OTC, to make both selections. I dont think that is to much to ask. But going back to Disgruntled for a moment. Because Sockeye might not make his pick for 2/3 hours after D selects, we obviously cant expect him to be around all day/night. So everyone else may very well be around for a pick in one rd and not the other, while you and sockeye dont have to worry about that.

So everyone else may very well be around for a pick in one rd and not the other, while you and sockeye dont have to worry about that. DMF being gone for a single four hour period means he misses one pick. If I'm gone for a single four hour period, I miss two picks. I don't understand why everyone else gets 8 hours to make 2 picks (plus any extra time that others take to make their picks), and I don't get 8 hours. While it's true that people in the middle of the draft have to worry about picks a bit more frequently than people on the ends, they're still expected to pick within the four hour window.

Obviously, if I get here and see that I'm on the clock, I'll make both picks. That's not the issue. The issue is if I miss a pick, why do I automatically miss another pick.

I think it's a good idea that people get their four hour window for all their picks - I just think it should apply to everyone.

USAF1
04-22-2007, 07:24 AM
Your 4 hour window is essentially there for making one pick (both). When you show up in your window you wont make 1 pick and then leave like everyone else might have to do for one reason or another. Nobody in the draft gets 8 hours on a single pick. I gave Disgrunlted 4 hours on each pick. It just so happens that Sockeye is realiable and gets his picks in on time. It may end up being 8 hours essentially but for everyone else (other than sockeye and you) there are picks being made in-between.

If you miss and get skipped on a pick at the end of a rd and then get another 4 hours to pick the following pick its a disatvantage/unfair for others. Im right after you with just 1 pick. Lets say in the 7th hour you show up and take a guy i wanted. You now just had 7 hours to make both selections in which both picks were yours. If i were to miss i get 4 hours and then am skipped. Same for everyone else up until sockeye. You're looking at it literally as 2 picks (which it is lol) but because you make both of them at one time its like having a single pick. Nobody has received 8 hours on a single pick thus far without having someone picking in between them.

So, since you're in charge, I guess the rule stands.

Minstrel
04-22-2007, 02:22 PM
Well, I'll toss in my input. I tend to agree with USAF1 on this. The four hour window is not to decide on a pick. If it were, people with two selections should get eight hours.

The four hours are to give you a chance to see that you're on the clock. In that purpose, it doesn't matter whether you have one pick or three...the four hours give you a chance to check in and then you make your pick(s) within a few minutes.

Now, I do agree that having back-to-back picks carries a heavier penalty for missing your window (you miss two picks, instead of one), but I feel having back-to-back picks provides some slight tactical advantage, in that you don't have to decide which of your next two players to take first and risk losing the other before your next pick comes up.

So, overall, I think the benefit at least close to evens out the disadvantage and the one four hour window keeps the game moving a bit faster.

While I don't have to choose which one of my next two players, I do have to choose 2 of my 25 players (or 23, or however many we have). And I have a much longer time to wait between picks. With picks in the middle of the draft, I can better adapt to who's being taken. Since I'm on an end, if people suddenly start taking 2Bmen, for example, almost all the good ones can be gone before I get to pick.

[B]Pirates select the best closer in the game today...

Joe Nathan, Mariano Rivera, and Jonathan Papelbon would like a word with you.

USAF1
04-24-2007, 06:37 PM
Over the past 3 years K-Rod has been the most dominating closer....Thats why i said today.

Mariano is starting to seriously show signs of regression. He's had a very rough go of it so far and he's been showing this since 2004....Just wanted to throw that in there. However, before you blast me, i still think he's the greatest reliever ever....

I will agree that Papelbon is on the same level, however K-Rod has a few years on him (323 IP to 109 IP) and ill wait another year or two to really compare the guys....

Nathan is just below those two...

Wade8813

Nathan is just below those two...

2004:

Nathan: 72 IP, 292 ERA+, 0.982 WHIP
K-Rod: 84 IP, 252 ERA+, 1.000 WHIP

2005:

Nathan: 70 IP, 163 ERA+, 0.971 WHIP
K-Rod: 67 IP, 157 ERA+, 1.144 WHIP

2006:

Nathan: 68 IP, 283 ERA+, 0.790 WHIP
K-Rod: 73 IP, 254 ERA+, 1.096 WHIP

I'd like to know how Nathan is below Rodriguez...

And actually, now that I look at it... Mariano has been better than K-Rod not only throughout his career, but in the last 3 years too.

And if you just want to look at last year, Papelbon blows him away. And if you just want to look at this season, Papelbon blows him away.

I'd like to see the stats you have that say K-Rod is better than any 3 of those guys.

2004: 210 ERA+ / 87.0 IP

OK, heres the deal.

The last pick was made at 630 PM EST by Westlake.

So, Windy City Fan is OTC as of 1030 PM but the clock is off until tomorrow morning.

I'm still trying to figure out what happened from 9:34 PM on 4-24 to 6:20 PM on 4-25 when no picks were made and yet nobody was skipped. Did time magically freeze?

Wade8813
04-26-2007, 08:49 AM
Actually, now that you mention it, I believe that 3 people were skipped, but no one did anything about it. Westlake got a half hour two days ago, and the first 3 and a half hours yesterday (starting at 10 am EST, and ending at 1:30 EST). Washizzle got 4 hours after that (starting at 1:30 EST and ending at 5:30 EST), and you got 4 hours (starting at 5:30 EST and ending at 9:30 EST). DMF got 30 minutes yesterday, and has had an hour today (although we're lenient with him, since he's in school right now).
