Does anyone know of some women's baseball teams that have a MySpace? I know of a few and seems to be rapidly picking up. I'm wondering if the rest of them have any in addition to their websites.

I don't know any and for some reason it smacks of un-professionalism. What would be the benefit to having a myspace page?
You are very limited in what myspace allows you to do anyway. Websites are not that expensive to put up and present a far more professional image.
Our league likes to use the Yahoo Groups feature.

I know the Chicago Gems have a MySpace page. I haven't looked at it yet. It was suggested to my team to put one up, but I'm not sure if I want to. I would have to look at other sites before deciding... to see if there's actual benefit from it. I can understand the point of people seeing it as unprofessional, but I can also understand the point that it may be good promotion for a team. My sister is a singer/songwriter, and she has a page and gets a lot of traffic on it. All of my cousins and other relatives have pages as well. I guess it wouldn't hurt to have one to link up with other people's pages to get traffic to your team's actual web site.
When my mom and I were in Atlanta back in the fall, we were trying to contact my cousin in Michigan to get her sister's phone number and address so we could visit her in S. Carolina. We couldn't get through via phone, so I sent her a message through her Myspace page, and she ended up calling us and while we were on the road to her sister's house. I guess it can be handy in certain cases.

I always thought free advertising goes a long way?

I started a MySpace page for the Danger. It's at www.myspace.com/detroitdanger. I'm still working on formatting it and all that, but the basic info is there.
I figure, if women who want to play hardball find us there, it's worth it. And, if people who are interested in seeing us play find us... GREAT! It's a good networking tool... and as JB said... it's free!

A quick search for "women's baseball" on Facebook shows the following groups:
Sydney Women's Baseball League
Pawtucket Slaterettes Girls' and Women's Baseball League
WOMEN'S BASEBALL WORLD CUP IN MATSUYAMA 2008
ACT Women's Baseball should have their own National Team
Royal York Women's Baseball
NYC Women's Baseball League
I suppose you could do a search for specific team names as well. The great thing about something like Facebook is that the viral nature of the site really lets you reach a lot of people. I keep seeing interesting groups on the pages of friends or friends of friends.

The Detroit Danger is a member of the groups in Facebook.
