To help you prepare:
http://www.freewebs.com/bbftgdraft/index.htm-Includes scouting reports on each player taken in the first 3 rounds of the actual MLB draft

A few small changes this year. We will be adding supplemental rounds. The complete draft order will come out after meetings are done. Also, this year unsigned players in real life will not be eligible this year. It is too difficult to try to give accurate ratings to players who are not even in pro ball. Finally, once again draft picks cannot be traded, but once they are drafted, players can be traded.(think Eli Manning)

To avoid issues with signability and to not give anyone an advantage, we decided that all drafted players are automatically signed

The link shows all the players drafted in the first 10 rounds who didn't sign
http://www.pgcrosschecker.com/draft/...es/sb2007.aspx

In almost all cases, I will take the highest player taken in the real MLB draft for a computer team. The only time I would consider not taking the highest if it was a situation with a team with a young superstar who would block him (in which case i would take the next highest)
For example(I know these teams have GMs):
Min-highest player is a catcher (Mauer)
Mil-highest player is a corner infielder (Fielder and Braun)
Sd-highest players is a second baseman (Barfield)

Since each team only has three picks before free agents, we will not be subtracting any picks. Instead, We will add a pick for each type one lost in the compensation round between the 1st and 2nd, and a pick for each type two lost in between the 2nd and 3rd round

Reds are now on the clock.....

jsmets92
01-25-2008, 11:29 AM
The draft will officially be starting in a few minutes. A recap of the rules:

1) There is a 24 hour clock for each pick. This clock starts right when the person before you picks. If you do not make your pick, you will get the highest drafted player available from the actual MLB draft.

2) I will make all picks for GM-less teams. In almost all cases I will give them the highest drafted player available from the actual MLB draft.

3) All GMs are highly encouraged to check the BBFTG Draft website (http://www.freewebs.com/bbftgdraft/index.htm), it contains scouting reports on every player taken in the first three rounds of the MLB draft courtesy of baseballamerica.com and pgcrosschecker.com

4) The complete draft order will be up as soon as I get a list of all of the unsigned Free Agents who get compensation picks. The order minus these picks is listed above.

5) I will PM every team ASAP when it is their pick and IM you if I have your screen name. You should still check this thread so that you get an idea when you will be up.

6) Picks can not be traded, but drafted players can.

7) Any undrafted players from the 2007 BBFTG draft, as well as any player who signed with their respective MLB teams from the real draft this year is eligible.

8) If it is soon to be your turn and you don’t think you will be around to make the pick PM me with your choice(s) and I will announce the pick for you.

That’s all I can think of right now. Good luck finding the next big thing :clapping

if someone's clock expires, I don't think they should be assigned a pick - I think they should be skipped and they can pick when they show, but if they don't pick someone within the next 5 picks, then you just go and give them the guy closest to the 1st drafted in the MLB draft.

Sorry to be a spoil-sport guys, but Josh and I talked about this and found it was best if the team just gets the highest player ranked.

Hope your brother won't mind. :)

yea, josh told me - see I added the 5 turns thing so that way it won't slide to far that the team will get crapy picks. Plus if we did that we wouldn't do it for comp teams. I mean i'm sure the TB guy wants someone, who he won't get now who the next few people don't draft.

What's illegal about that? It would be illegal if Brackman were currently under contract, but he was not. Trade talks cannot be considered tampering anyway.

Somehow, I missed Ed Easley when I was giving players to teams w/o GMs and no one has picked him. He was 61st in real life and we are now on the 96th pick. Are you guys ok if I give him to the next team or should we figure out something else?

I'm fine with it, any of us who were active in the draft could have picked him if we wanted, plus, in real life, someone in the 1st round might end up being really crapy, while someone drafted in the 5th round might become an all-star, so it doesn't really matter.

That concludes the draft for this year. Great job guys getting your picks in and moving the draft along.

Oh, and one more thing, Opening Day is only 39 days away:dance

jsmets92
02-27-2008, 12:18 PM
Undrafted FAs are now fair game. Undrafted guys from last year can also be had (Joe Smith etc., Hint:there were some intriguing draft and follows in the later rounds)
PM me with who you want by Saturday morning at 9 AM.
Please list them in the order you want them.
When more than one team wants him, the one who put him higher will get him. If more than one team puts him in the same spot, he will go to the team w/ a lower winning %.

jsmets92
02-27-2008, 03:41 PM
One more thing, You can give me as many names as you want in case some are picked by other teams. I will probably give each team their top available 4-6 (to be decided later)

jsmets92
02-29-2008, 04:45 PM
I have only gotten a list from one team. There are definetly quality players available. There are at least five guys in BA's top 100 prospects in baseball available and many other quality prospects. I will extend the deadline to 9 AM Sunday, but please get me the lists.
