Rotation: Zambrano, Lilly, Hill, Marquis
Bullpen: Dempster, Marmol, Marshall, Wood, Howry, Eyre, Traschel
Catcher: Soto, Blanco
Infield: Lee, DeRosa, Theriot, Ramirez, Ward, Cedeno
Outfield: Soriano, Jones, Murton, Floyd, Monroe, Pie

That's what I'd like to see, but I'm guessing it'll look more like this:

Rotation: Zambrano, Lilly, Hill, Marquis
Bullpen: Dempster, Marmol, Wood, Howry, Eyre, Ohman, Wuertz
Catcher: Soto, Kendall
Infield: Lee, DeRosa, Theriot, Ramirez, Ward, Cedeno, Fontenot
Outfield: Soriano, Jones, Floyd, Monroe, Pie

I see Ohman and Kendall as major liabilities. And while I think Murton is our most complete 3rd OF right now, I don't think Lou likes him. I don't care much for Cedeno, but I don't like the idea of DeRosa as our second option at SS. We should have kept Izturis.

you would honestly rather have Soto and Blanco instead of Soto and Kendall?

I'd definately take my boy Soto and Kendall over Soto and Blanco.

Not to mention the fact that there is no way we could have a team of Soto/Blanco behind the plate.. (if i am correct)

Because the only way we can get soto on the post season roster is by selling the fact that Blanco is hurt...

Because we added Soto to the 40 man roster to late to have him included in the option for post season rosters..

so that just is possible.

IF im wrong please speak up, but that is what I understood the other day on one of the broadcast.

There is no way Murton gets left off the postseason roster. He's been very good lately. A Murton/Floyd platoon is actually working right now.

Lou likes to ride the hot hand, so I expect to see Murton on the roster unless he cools off a lot from here on out.

You may be correct there, come to think of it. But yes, I would gladly take Soto/Blanco over Soto/Kendall. Kendall's bat is cold, and when he cools down he doesn't hit appreciably better than Blanco (if at all). Therefore, if we're not gonna benefit from his bat, why suffer through the liability of his defense?

I don't want Steve Trachsel anywhere near it

Replace hart for trachsel and kendal for hank and I think we are good. Hank has zero value.

I spaced on Hart. Yes, yes, yes. I'd love to see Piggy in there too, but he's not ready.

I don't beleive Hart is eligible. He is a decent 5th starter/swing man option for next year. Good pickup!

What's wrong with Wuertz? He's been very good the last couple months, don't have an ERA to quote, but considering he is basically the 4th RH out of the pen, he is very solid for us. Why the lack of respect?

Left-Handed relief is a problem. I can't believe I am saying this, but Eyre is the most trustworthy. After that, I don't trust Ohman, don't know Pignatiello, and Marshall, I like him, but he has not pitched well, and changing roles might not be a good idea. He might be done for the year.

I don't think selling a Henry Blanco injury will be hard, he hasn't played lately, and much all year. Get used to Soto/Blanco though, I beleive that will be our catching tandem next year. I am gratified that Cubs brass finally FREED GEO SOTO!

Also, Trachsel has ZERO value. If we need a starter because someone is hurt, we can hold our nose and call him back. If it comes to that though maybe Hart is a better option. Nice career Stevie, but you look cooked.

I'm not sure when Hart hit the 40-man and I'm too lazy to look.

Wuertz had a great April, an ok June, and a lot of bad months in between. He's back to form this month, but he isn't consistent yet. Eyre is undoubtedly the best lefty. He really turned it up a notch after the break. Marshall did very well in his one relief appearance (no ERs in 1.1 innings), and maybe he should get some consideration for a permanent assignment to the pen a la Marmol and Wood if Prior and/or Hart is ready next year.

In fact, I'll pencil in a rotation of Zambrano, Lilly, Hill, Hart, and Prior/Marshall next year, and propose my new Tejada trade: Jason Marquis and Ronny Cedeno.

I believe the only rule is position player for position player and pitcher for pitcher. I don't believe it is specific position for specific position. So theoretically the Cubs could place Ward on the DL with a bad wrist and replace him on the playoff roster with Soto.

Then again the roster might just be full of Brewers rendering the point moot.
