From the Club Mets section of the Mets website...
As a valued Club Mets member, the Mets are pleased to offer you an opportunity to purchase individual tickets to Big Apple Seating, normally reserved only for groups.
Centrally located near the new Citi Field Home Run Apple on the Field Level Concourse in right center field, Big Apple Seating offers convenient access to exciting new specialty concessions & FanFest.
Tickets are being offered for the 4/15 and 4/16 games v. San Diego and the 4/17 and 4/18 games v. Milwaukee. (4/18 will be the very first regular season day game played at Citi Field; another chance to be a part of history.) Price is $42.00 per ticket.
I guess this is the equivalent of Flushing Flash subscribers being offered the opportunity to buy individual tickets for selected Picnic Area games at Shea, except that now you're paying $20 a year for the privilege...
Awesome!! Thanks for the heads up. I just scored seats in Section 142, Row 1 on the aisle!

My thoughts....
01. Mets are fully committed to Murphy. They will give him every opportunity to be an everyday player. They love him.
02. Sheff will platoon in RF with Church. If he hits like he has in the past he may get more time. If he stinks, he will be cut by June and can find another team.

Francessa is saying Omar will be on to discuss Sheffield (me: "Shef-field to Citi Field"). I think he will take Marlon Andersons spot. If I see Shef at the plate instead of Marlon, I'm thinking HR is possible. With Marlon I'm hoping for a walk. Someone mentioned 1B, but he has only played 9 games there, with the Yanks. As a matter of fact he's only played 48 games in the field in the last 3 years. We may see Doc around now, they are cousins.

1993 was the last time he played 3B (aside from 2 innings in 2004). He was 24 at the time. They moved him for a reason.
He only played 9 innings at 1B until the Yankees realized it wasn't gonna work out.

Francesa seems to be under the impression that everything under the Modell's sign is in play, all the way up to the windows and wall behind it, with the black things simply being posts in the way of outfielders. Now, everyone has always thought there'd be a screen or glass put up, but it's impossible to tell if that's the case.

Ha ha, I thought I was the only person who still 'taped' stuff. TiVo is not on my $ priority lists.
Not sure if anyone brought this up already, but I was wondering: Since you need to be on the first level to get to the bridge in the outfield and such, does that mean anyone has full access to the entire stadium, regardless of where their tickets are? Or will they still subscribe to the class system like in Shea? (reminds me of the Titanic :laugh)
Also, is the Acela club accesable to all ages? My 9 yr old will be quite put out if they don't let her in.

Ushers will stand at the top of each row and keep out non-ticket holders. They will not escort you to your seat. They are not allowed to take tips. What will the policy be during BP? Will they let everyone down, then how do they remove non-ticket holders?

I thought the same thing! Perfect height, perfect angle. Almost the exact spot as Shea.
close, but the camera location is furthur back by at least 30', which effects the "throw" and lense speed. the cam. position at shea was right behind the cf fence.
the cf cam framing could be tightened a little bit (see attach), moving up the info bar would'nt hurt either. i work in the tv biz and producers still keep the bar low (lots of space above) because of analog sets that have varying amounts of gaps between the raster edge and "title safe". when we're all digital aspect ratio don't be surprised to c game info (or adverts., yikes!) on either side instead of the top.

Watching on TV, my only gripe is the ad board behind the plate. Why isn't it centered on home plate?!
the backstop advertising boards are set-up (off-set) for maximum camera exposure, the off-set also makes the "clipping" easier for fox to video "insert" ads in that spot. video insertion is a combination of the traditional green screen chroma (green) keying and 1st down lines. when a player in in front of that green screen (it'll b the left side on @ citi) you will see a lot of "noise" around the player's outline.
btw - those ad's are almost twice as expensive as other display ad's of the same size in the building because of the tv exposure (national broadcast of highlights starting @ the plate). your eyeballs are for sale..
here's the co. that handles lot of this - http://www.sportvision.com/

ok just came back.
left in disgust. hated my seats. didn't like the park much either. i suppose if you have field seats in the infield it is nice upgrade but then again any park you sit in the infield in the field it's a nice upgrade.
some major problems where my season tickets are (402 row 5 prom box)
20% of the field, notably most of right field past first base is totally blocked off. the LCD blocking is annoying. even if i stand i can't see the modells area which is the coolest part of the park.
there is no pitch speed and easily readable ball/strike count unless i turn my head a lot to look at the right field scoreboard in which case it is totally blocked by those poles and speakers and the flag.
i don't see where the concourse area has more room in anywhere but the field level. in the prom it's the same as mezz at shea. the concession stands have the same food, at a slightly lower price. no premium beers within close distance. you can't even see the diamond from the concourse area.
i don't care about all the latter stuff, my main beef is that my seats are terrible. it's a waste of $$$. i paid $2800 to be uncomfortable basically. even the ushers agreed that it is a crock when they say citi field offers superior sightlines. except for angled seats towards home infield there is no seat upgrade. even if i stand on my chair i can't see the foul line past first base or the modells thing. i feel like i am on a rooftop at wrigley from where i am. there is no intimacy in the stadium from where i sit. i walked aroudn a lot (got there at like 3:30) and it's definitely a cool park if you sit in the infield or on the field but prom box and up are pretty shafty seats unless you are in the infield. the outfield obstruction is retarded.

I've been watching both games simultaneously, the Mets on MLB.TV and the Yankees on cable. I noticed something I found interesting. The Mets game was a totally new experience -- everything was different and interesting, what with the angles of the walls down the foul lines, the new look behind home plate and beyond the outfield fences, etc etc -- watching on television, absolutely everything is changed from previous years.
Watching the game from NYS, though, was really very much like watching games on TV in previous years. The shot from the centerfield camera looked almost identical. So did the other cameras when they were following plays in the field. The Yankees built a field that was almost identical to the old stadium, so watching on TV it doesn't look much different until they pull back and give you some shots of the seating areas and concourses.
Not saying one is better or worse than the others, but the TV experience was interesting.

I believe the Mets bullpen was lights out in April/May 2008. We'll know by July, but I am not a Bobby Parnell fan. Despite an outstanding Spring ERA he allowed 20+ base runners in 13 innings and had a BB:K ratio of 1:1 = not good. Maybe he'll work out, but by July I think he'll be at AAA.
Just my opinion.

Francesa seems to be under the impression that everything under the Modell's sign is in play, all the way up to the windows and wall behind it, with the black things simply being posts in the way of outfielders. Went to Citifield for the game tonight.
Some thoughts...
Felt VERY wierd to be parking my car IN Shea stadium
The stadium is absolutely beautiful. I did not know what to expect, but it was great.
It will take some time to feel like it is home, after going to Shea for 43 years. I hope Wilpons maintain the stadium to look the way it did tonight.
I walked all around, and checked the views from all seating areas, and they were good. I did not look for the obstucted seats, but overall nice
My season tickets are in 520 row 9, and it seems like they are similar to Mezz reserved.
I went to the Blue Smoke stand in the OF, and I got to telll you, the ribs were awesome. 10 bucks, and worth every penny.
A couple of issues I noticed-
The concourse on each level when crowded, seemed a little cramped,
I dont know whether it was just because it was the opening game, but as soon as the game got to the middle innings, every concession stand on each level, all had very long lines. Im hoping as the workers get more experienced, those lines will shrink.
To me, Citi Field is very similar to Citizens Bank Park, and Im hoping over time it will feel like home

Just got back home. Wow. Wow. Wow.
Sat 2nd row 411 in the promenade. No issues with the rail or the Plexiglas. Outside of the stairways in the 500s its much ado about nothing.
Asked the security supervisor outside Left Field gate about bringing in food and drink. He said it was all good as long as it was in a sealed plastic bottle. Soft coolers were ok too.
I cant wait till lil Baghdad is torn down outside the bullpen gate and we get a Mets version of Yawkee way out there.
wow.
So HAPPY this is our home park.
Oh, the press box is REALLY accessible to people walking around the 300 level. Guys were talking to Howie Rose before the game and yelling up at Keith and Ron. I wouldn't want to deal with that if I were them on a regular basis.

I wonder if it was just more people wanted to see and walk around the place rather than watching what is a meaningless exhibition game.
In other words, September, vs the Phillies, or even July, vs the Pirates, such issues won't be the norm.

SO i bought and paid fro a seat we didnt use we sat in 3-6...thankfully it didnt become a problem cause no one came to sit in seat 6 but we had an usher call in a supervisor and we showed him the deal and they said if theres a problem we will move you down closer to field.

Ha ha, Gary, Keith and Ron are talking about what will happen if a fight breaks out on the field: both bullpens will just fight right there since they are already sitting right next to each other. Why wait to run onto the field where the umpires can break it up? :laugh
They said it's like penalty boxes in hockey. :laugh Of course that's the best when two players are verbally going at it while on penalty!
Kielty just got the first Met RBI at Citi! :clapping:clapping:clapping
they have different walkways right? I believe the visitors use the door closer to RF? Can anyone confirm this?

i came home from work to see the last out of the game, citi looks amazing on tv, love the new SNY graphics. thank you rain delay...it allowed me to see the end. i think its great that both mets and yankees both won thier first games in the new stadiums. I cant wait until i can see a game there.
one thing, take that xerox ad off the BP fence, looks so out of place and retarded. they could have went over on the LF wall where the big gap is.

I'll post my pics later, but OMG I am so friggan impressed!
What a ballpark this is. I mean from all the pics here on BBF I knew it was beautiful and so unlike Shea but they are right when they say the pics really dont do it justice. This stadium is phenomenal!!! Ok Im sorry and Im done gushing. lol
My daughter is so happy she got her glove autographed by Nelson Figueroa (she wasnt even bummed that it wasnt David Wright and she loves Wright) and my baby got her pink Mets cap autographed by Pedro Feliciano. My wife and son loved it. Awesome night for us tonight.
Great news, man! I'm happy for you. Citi does look great on TV. Shea who?
BTW, your lil one (I'm guessing that's her in your avatar) is adorable.

Just got home, had a great time. I picked up Metro Box Platinum Tickets from the Mets a couple days ago, my brother and I sat two rows behind the photo box to the right side of the Mets Dugout.
My only issue was the insane lines to get food on pretty much every level, I spent about 20-25 mins on line at Blue Smoke to grab a Pulled Pork Sandwich, Fries and a Drink. While on line to get my food I was able to meet Dishy who was online a few people behind me
Also the field level concourse was insanely crowded, hopefully it mellows out once everyone gets used to the set up.
But other than that, the place was amazing and I can't wait to head back over tmrw and sunday

Just got back home and all I can say is WOW!!!. Citi field is amazing. the field level seating is great. When I went to the UD I was amazed about how much better it was then Shea. i didn't that many pics because I was amazed how nice the staduim is. Also seeing K-Rod struck out the last batter was amazing. He is truly the savior of the Mets bullpen.

I just got back from Citi Field and I was very impressed. The pictures do not capture the feel, especially when the crowd is there. I had Field level section 126 with Acela Access - great view point. It's a combination of AT&T Park - Dodger Stadium - Camden Yards - Tiger Stadium - Ebbets Field and the Polo Grounds. The walkways on the main level are wide but get filled up very quickly and the beer lines were pretty bad. Really though the interior reminded me of AT&T and Camden...
I also found that being on the Field level does not allow you to other clubs in the stadium. For Acela, you need to make reservations, so try finding the number on the Mets website. We sneaked into Caesars and while it was ok, the only nice thing was the rotunda windows overlooking the remains of Shea. It also had that new hotel smell... Also, if you want to bypass security at the stadium you can take the elevators to different floors and they at least let you get to different sections.
As for the food... Shake Shack rocked! I'm still full from it.
I also checked out my weekday plan seats in section 424 and was really impressed. I was having second thoughts about left field porch but I think I will be happy there. Did you know the beers on the top level are bigger for the same price as the main level?
I'm glad the Mets finally have their own home.

My only complaint was that there was too many people on the field level concourse.
Yeah that was a big deal and also, they really didn't chase anyone out of seats after BP and Stretching. All they did was have a guy standing on the field saying if your seats aren't here you have to move but not a single person in the stands moving people away. There was a couple of really creepy dirty guys sitting in Row 1 in front of me and when people who's seats they were in came, they just moved down or to a different row in the same general area

Oh yeah and the double shack burger was really good. My wife even said it was a good burger. But the shake was just ok. I mean it was good it didnt suck or anything but nothing to wright home about. Fries were a bit salty for the kids but thats cause we dont let them eat much salt. I think Im gonna try a pulled pork sandwich on opening day. Then its back to bringing sandwiches from home after that lol.
Thankfully we ate before the game started as we got there MAD early to walk around and take mad pictures. But once the game started the CF area was a MAD HOUSE!!! The lines for shake shack, blue smoke, the taqueria and box frites were ridiculous and were back to back because of th elayout so getting through there was a horror. The concourses are HUGE. Litterally even the funny looking one by the ebbets club that look ssmall form the pic angle is huge. BUT they got very crowded probably for 2 reasons. 1, the novelty of thenew park and people walking around way more than will be the case during the regular season as the novelty dies down. 2, the cash registers like people have already mentioned are way out into the concourses and in bad places. The bathrooms are big and nce but men are nasty creatues in general as usual and there was urine all over the place it was disappointing to see.

The pulled pork was great, but needs extra BBQ Sauce right away. It had some right from the stand but was a little too dry. I preceded to drench it with the sauce on the Toppings Stand since I'm a big BBQ sauce guy

so basically i'm the only person who did not enjoy the citi field experience.
i thought the ergonomics of the placement of stuff was bad. the right field scoreboard is very annoying to watch from right field promenande box and reserved sections as the flags are totally in the way of most of the screen and the speakers on those flagpoles too.
the MPH is diplayed in the RF scoreboard so i have to turb my head like 90 degrees after every pitch to look at it as opposed to shea when it was at both ends of the seating areas and very convenient. hopefully they will address this and display the pitch info on the main LCD screens on the facade of the seating decks. i made a list of many little things which could be done better to enhance the actually game watching.
what i'm curious about he most is how "toolish" people are acting. yes there are better and upgraded amenities but aside from the physical seats themselves i still fail to see how it is a better place to watch a baseball game if all you are interested in it drinking beer and watching baseball game and not paying $18,000 for season tickets in the field.
citi field is a bit disorienting with all the distractions and harder to focus on the game. i totally see how people like it if you are into walking around the whole game and going shopping and going to a bar and going to a restaurant. but is that really what you want in a baseball stadium???
i'm curious to here the reactions of other people who sat in the promenade box. everyone around me was complaining how bad the seats were so i'm not sure where all these "there are no bad seats in the house" people are getting their facts from.

Just got home. Great time. A few thoughts:
Food service all over the stadium basically ground to a halt by the third inning. Don't know if it was inexperienced personnel or some kind of equipment/supply/system failure, but they need to fix it quick.
Maybe I'm a shallow idiot, but I couldn't get over how big and clear the picture is on the scoreboard. To me, it made a big difference in the whole experience.
Jackie Robinson Rotunda: meh. No disprespect intended, but basically a big hallway.
Clubs seemed unready to handle the crowds.
The "iron triangle" really is an eyesore when you look out from the upper levels.
The Pepsi Porch, for better or worse, is pretty isolated.
The "Catch of the Day" seafood stand below the porch smelled really good. Not sure I'm ready for ballpark calamari, though.
Bathrooms were like palaces compared to Shea.
Looking forward to many fun memories there.

This is what they (and YS, and all other new ballparks) are trying to create. It is 'family friendly', more like an amusement park, IMO. Any new away parks I've been to (only two so far), I've felt like that. More like a tourist attraction. The novelty will wear off, and it will start to feel like home eventually.

yes i have a full season package. i don't care either way about amenities. i just need a bathroom and a beer stand and a baseball field. i goto a lot of games a year, at least i did at shea the last 4 years i had full season tickets and all i care about is the game. i don't care where it is, if someone somewhere is having a catch, i wanna see it. don't matter if its a sandlot or old yankee stadium, i just like the game. the mets mean a lot to me and i love the competition. if all they had was beer in cold weather water in hot weather and a bathroom i would be happy with the "fan experience" i understand the economics of the game so if people have to treat a baseball game like an amusement park and it puts money into the organization then so be it but in such a modern era of architecture and whatnot it is a bit silly all the thought and hype put into the design and construction of this stadium they could have made better promenade seats and create a workaround with the LCD panels that block a big chunk of the field from the prom box.

Loved the new Field alot but.....
I'm not sitting in the promonade anymore,it's higher than I thought. row 15 section 509.
Seats up there not as wide as advertised(nice room in front)also
Line for food was insane BUT Food was unbelievibly good. $ Gigantic ribs for $10. I was full after three that big-why buy a hot dog?
A really great experience though.
After the rain delay I snuck down to 4 rows behind the Boston dugout. Bernie Madoff seats, now that's living. When I was leaving the parking lot I couldn't get it out of my head that I was parked where Swoboda made his catch. There's something wrong about that. Next time I'll park at "second base" where the Beatles played.
Great new place. Pictues can't describe all the interior hang-outs and railings that are ad hoc "standing rooms".

well i was there for like 4 hours and i'm giving my opinion like everyone else, not even opinion, but fact. 20% of the outfield is obstructed. is that not fact? for anyone getting seats, don't get seats in the prom box. at this point you are better off getting single game seats and checking them out beforehand there are weird angles in the ballpark to get seats, kinda like the fenway poles, you can't buy seats blind.

height not the problem, and the height is a bit higher than mezz. for the last few years i had seats in the mezz box infield and those were lower down and had an extremely even and open view of the field. the prom box did not feel closer at all either height wise or distance wise, if anything due to the slope of the level (not as sharp) it feels further away. i like the angle towards the field but the level isn't as sharp as mezz/UD at shea so you kind of feel very "reclined" it's hard to describe. if anyone else went from mezz box to prom box/club please comment, i'm curious as to what others thought.

I'm tired--didn't even load my pictures on my computer. I'll post everything tomorrow. I took a lot of shots, but nothing that hasn't been seen before at this point.

height not the problem, and the height is a bit higher than mezz. for the last few years i had seats in the mezz box infield and those were lower down and had an extremely even and open view of the field. the prom box did not feel closer at all either height wise or distance wise, if anything due to the slope of the level (not as sharp) it feels further away. i like the angle towards the field but the level isn't as sharp as mezz/UD at shea so you kind of feel very "reclined" it's hard to describe. if anyone else went from mezz box to prom box/club please comment, i'm curious as to what others thought.
I went from Mezz Box to Prom Box, and I have no clue what you are talking about, seats are a tad bit higher (not too much) and are much much closer to the field. Much better then Shea and a whole lot cheaper.

So did you guys try any new food there today?
I had Blue Smoke--the pulled pork was good, but as I read in a few places, it could have used a bit more bbq sauce. I also had the corn and clam chowder from the fish place. It was good, but it wasn't really hot enough.
I had a mama's special AND a pulled pork sandwich, which was mild but a little sauce would have made it perfect. Amazing ballpark food. I wanted a lobster roll so bad but that line was too long.
I'm really gonna enjoy eating at this place.

I have no idea what he's ranting about. I took was in every section of the prom box seats tonight during rain delay and they are great. He must be nitpicking because he can't see a fraction of an inch of the corner of the outfield somewhere.
I'll take his tickets at face value if he is really that miserable.

Here's the link to my full album for anyone who wants to check out all my shots:

I will post the highlights directly on BBF.
I thoroughly enjoyed the game tonight despite the rain delay. However, in the spirit of full disclosure, it was hard not to enjoy tonight because I had the pleasure of taking in the game in one of the Party Suites. One of our great BBF colleagues, Reyes07HOF, booked the suite a while back and I was able to get in on the deal. We were in Suite 201 ('86 Mets Suite) and it was great - beer, wine, soda, burgers, dogs, chicken tenders, fruit salad, fries, cookies. It was great. I also had the pleasure of meeting (again) foulpole, who was also in the suite.
Pics to follow.

The ribs from Blue Smoke were awesome. The 5 large and I mean LARGE ribs for 10 bucks.

After Linda and I entered thru the First Base VIP entrance, we took the elevator up to the 4th floor (Suites level). We walked right into the Delta Sky360 Club, even though I don't believe our tickets allowed it. Nobody questioned us or asked to see our tickets, so we just walked around like we belonged. They were serving complimentary champagne (I had two glasses, thank you very much).
