They'd probably sell more ice cream if they LEFT the Shea Stadium logo without the heat pressed "NY"sticker. Whats also funny is that on the inside of the helmet it says "WASH BEFORE USING".
The good news is that it doesn't say
WASH BEFORE RE-USING

I'm going to make a wild guess and say that it's Kozy Shack. They had their logos on the turnstiles so it's possible they have an ad.

Once again, let me point out that the Mets do not manufacture merchandise and they don't run the concessions. Those helmets are made by ANOTHER COMPANY besides the Mets and the ice cream is sold by Aramark.
At Fridays game at Citi Field vs Boston I bought ice cream at Carvel in left field and when I finished the mini Met helmet I turned it around and noticed they stamped the Met "NY" over last years final season logo. This Madoff thing is really far reaching.

If that's how they like 'em in Chicago, that's fine. I'll take mine on a potato roll with yellow mustard, thank you and thank you very kindly.
Gary!? Yellow mustard??? I'm very disappointed in you. "Yellow" mustard shouldn't even qualify as mustard.

I really don't care if people are negative about the Mets, I certainly am when its warranted. But people need to be fair and with their complaints.

Considering the visiting bullpen is about 6 feet away from the Mets bullpen, I don't think it'll be too hard to see who is warming up, even if the bullpen isn't visible from certain angles on the field.

The visitor's bench is directly behind the Mets bullpen (best view in the house). I personally don't like it since they can listen to the coaches and player conversations. We can also spy on them but the whole setup seems a little wierd.
Also the Wise/DD sign looks too tall, it blockes the view of the fans in the stands.

I would add color to the stairways to the different levels. I love how they are everywhere which will decrease traffic but they feel a bit cold and unwelcoming. That is probably the only thing I'd change about the entire park, that and the glass, which isn't a big deal where I'm sitting but will be for others. I love it and can't wait to go there the next 6 months, hopefully 7.

Wait a second.....I was specifically told by some of the Wilpon shills that these were not being sold. Of course, they were sold to you; but after just a few months of protesting, they relented knowing they were indeed obstructed. The Mets agreed to downgrade the seats from Delta Platinum to Delta Gold, and refunded the $19,000+ difference to the Madoff trustee;
The Mets agreed to confer the account holder rights (ie. playoff purchase right, right of renewal) if the trustee sells the season package;
The trustee asked for approval to sell April games on an individual basis while this proceeding is pending;
The trustee asked ticket scalpers if they had an interest in purchasing the seats but the scalpers declined;
The Mets agreed to guarantee a 50% of face value minimum bid for the tickets sold on eBay.

Two new ads have been put up on the centerfield scoreboard. The one on
top left is for Fox News Channel. I think the bottom left ad says "Buy & Sell
GOLD U.S. Coins."
I took this photo earlier today from a moving Flushing-bound #7 train, so in
order to enable you to see the ads as best as possible I'm reproducing the
photo at "original" size (2048 x 1536). I know that's probably going to make
this post go all the way off the screen for many of you, for which I apologize,
but in this case I feel it's important. Hopefully, I've formatted the text of
this post so you don't have to keep scrolling left and right to read it, and
the "relevant" portion of the photo (the new ads) is on the left, so you don't
need to scroll to the right unless you want to look at our beloved Iron
Triangle (and I know you secretly do  ).

Good point. Like I said, it was a stretch. That ad is hideous by the way.;)

ill reserve judgement until april 13th for my final say on the ad's, but right now im not really liking what im seeing. i went to all 3 of the games played there so far, and i never had a problem with any ad's, as for me, i dont really notice them during the game. yet with these latest ad's added, along with another one on the left field wall and on the bullpen fence, i fear that it might turn into a bit of distraction for me.

The interesting stuff:
The Mets agreed to downgrade the seats from Delta Platinum to Delta Gold, and refunded the $19,000+ difference to the Madoff trustee;
The Mets agreed to confer the account holder rights (ie. playoff purchase right, right of renewal) if the trustee sells the season package;
The trustee asked for approval to sell April games on an individual basis while this proceeding is pending;
The trustee asked ticket scalpers if they had an interest in purchasing the seats but the scalpers declined;
The Mets agreed to guarantee a 50% of face value minimum bid for the tickets sold on eBay.
Pretty shocking if you ask me. Consider that the Mets were one of the organizations hit hardest by the Made-off fraud to the tune of half a billion dollars. That 19K they gave away is basically on top of the $500M

I was told (pretty emphatically) that it was going behind the large 42 in the JRR.
I just saw Gary's latest batch of shots on flickr (awesome job as always, Mr Dunaier) and I noticed that the exterior stadium map has no such indication for any museum.
I haven't been to the main team store yet, does anyone know if its in there?

I've gotta figure (or at least hope) that they'll all be raised on Opening Night- Hopefully the Mets do it right and have one key guy from each team raise each flag. Would add a nice touch to the opening ceremonies.
Ok, I waited til they all were up to make a judgment - the ads do look cluttered and kind of messy. There are way too many of them. And whats with that freakn FOX NEWS ad? Good Lord thats disappointing.
One thing I will say is that both times I've been there I hardly even noticed the ads on the 2 main scoreboards so its likely worse looking at it in a picture than it is in person.

How exactly do you know that the Mets have a say?
Yes, but the Mets have a say before the helmets go to the public. They obviously didn't care weather it had the logo, that is cutting costs, no? If the Mets never check their products before selling them, we would be eating ice cream from a Cleveland Indians helmet.

Fox News had a sign at Shea (for the last 3-4 years) too. All the people here showing dismay at the "new" Fox News ad proves that the ads will eventually blend in once people stop obsessing about ever nuance and start focusing in on the field.

Considering the Mets used to have a big OD party in the picnic area every year and then have 100's of invited guests sitting out there, I think it is safe to assume that they are putting invited guests in the Big Apple Seats on OD.
Did the Mets sell any Big Apple Seats for the opener ?
I have not seen any on stub hub.

The Fox News ad at Shea was on a rotating board. It was maybe up for 3 innings, tops. The one at Citi is prominent and permanent in CF. There is no comparison.
I was just going through my pics from the last day at Shea and here are some companies I noticed didn't make it over to Citi:
Southpole
Nikon
Casio
State Farm
National Grid
Tommy Hilfiger
Mohegan Sun (obvious reason)
Mastercard
Verizon Yellow Pages
Stop and Shop
I'm going to guess that a lot of these companies backed off once Citi went under and the backlash started.
Correction:
The Fox News ad at Shea was in foul territory in RF right next to the LED board. Its tiny.

Not if they had a buyer for the Row 2 seats, and the ones that they "downgraded" them to were obviously available. Also, its great PR IHMO. I would believe that the Wilpon's know some of his other clients (victims) personally. They also may get a return (however small) on whatever can be recovered.

Maybe those ads on the bullpen fence are printed on the kind of material like they have on buses, where from the outside the entire side of the bus is an ad but when you're in the bus you can look through the windows and see through them?

Citi Field scoreboards to shine bright
Large displays to provide crisp high-definition pictures
By Anthony DiComo / MLB.com
NEW YORK -- The video board at Shea Stadium served a purpose. Whenever Jose Reyes would flash on the screen to deliver his "Profesor Reyes" Spanish lessons, or whenever the Mets would replay a defensive highlight or long home run, most of the crowd would turn to watch. Then they would turn back.
Though always there, always in the background, the screen was not an attraction unto itself.
That was something the Mets decided to change when they went about the business of designing their new ballpark. The age of Jumbotrons and massive scoreboards had long since swept across America's arenas and stadiums, prompting owners to begin perfecting them. Bigger is still better, but quality counts, too.
And like most other features of Citi Field, the Mets aimed for quality.
"They didn't hold back on anything," right fielder Ryan Church said, "to say the least."
Not one, but two high-definition LED displays adorn the Citi Field outfield, covering a combined 7,100 square feet. The main center field screen, 50 feet high by 70 feet wide, will primarily be used to display player information throughout the game. The 40-foot by 90-foot HD board in right-center field will be used to display additional player information, a running line score, lineups and defensive alignments.
Developed by Daktronics, the scoreboards display remarkably crisp images and video. And they easily rank among the largest in the league.
"Daktronics provides the premier product offering in multiple video formats to best serve our fans," Mets chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon said when the partnership was announced. "The introduction of Daktronics technology and equipment will allow us the opportunity to inform, entertain, and engage fans at our new ballpark in unprecedented ways."
One of the most useful features is actually mounted behind the main board in center field, where a video display overlooks fans gathered at the Taste of New York food court and the 2K Sports FanFest area. Those are two of the only spots in Citi Field without clear views of the action, but thanks to the scoreboard -- and yet another LED video display in the FanFest area -- fans there can still follow the game.
The Mets also installed one of the longest ribbon boards in baseball, stretching 850 feet around the facing of the Promenade Level of seating. That board, too, displays scoring information, as well as captioning of the public-address system.
Outside the park, a marquee display greets fans with game information. And Citi Field's main entrance, the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, is home to two nine-foot by 16-foot LED displays.
Those features all differentiate Citi Field from Shea Stadium in obviously visible ways. But they are hardly the only differences. One of the most noticeable features of Shea's outfield setup, for example, was an out-of-town scoreboard that listed all the league's happenings in two electronic columns. When a home run slammed off the massive board in right field -- a rare occurrence -- it was clear that it had traveled a long way.
No home runs are likely to touch Citi Field's out-of-town scoreboard, a horizontal board perched on the roof canopy in left field. But many eyes may rest there frequently.
Reminiscent of the much larger out-of-town scoreboard atop the bleachers at Wrigley Field, Citi Field's model displays scores with a miniature diamond for each game. In addition to displaying the score itself, the board identifies each pitcher currently in the game, and relays the number of outs and the runners on each base. In that fashion, it represents both runs and rallies alike.
It is one more convenience in a stadium full of them -- or, more accurately, in a stadium full of thousands of square feet of convenience, from every conceivable angle. If the other areas of Citi Field represent a throwback to the past, the scoreboards are an unequivocal nod to the future.
Those ads on the bullpen fence are really bothering me. I hope they think better of this and move them to the regular fence. They'll have to slide all of the ads over to accomodate, but it's worth it. That is the most ridiculous thing I've seen to date. As bad as the turf is (looks better now but painting it is a joke. Can anyone tell me if you are able to have your actual section/row and seat number on the ticket?
According the the rep I spoke to, you cannot get a personalized Mini Mega Ticket, but you can get the larger Mega ticket personalized. You can do it at the table they are setting up in the Mets Team Store for Monday's game

I haven't seen a dedicated Stub Hub window yet. But if they had one last year - and they did - and since they're the official ticket scalper-- er, I mean reseller - of the Major League Baseball, I'm sure there'll be one set one up in time for Opening Day.
From Stubhub:
Will Call:
Tickets purchased through StubHub! and designated for "Stadium Pickup" can be picked up at any open Citi Field ticket window with signage indicating that the window is available for StubHub! ticket pickups. Tickets can be picked up in advance of the game date or on game day up until the middle of the fifth inning.

The difference is that this year, everything with SH is e-delivery. That makes a window unnecessary. Whether they have a window at CF remains to be seen but this is on the SH site:
Q: What is eDelivery - and how does it work?
A:
eDelivery is a new delivery method being introduced at StubHub. With eDelivery, your tickets will be delivered electronically instead of being shipped by FedEx.
eDelivery includes three delivery options:
* eDelivery
* Instant eDelivery
* Will Call/Kiosk
With eDelivery and Instant eDelivery, your tickets will be delivered electronically and you'll print them from home to take to the game.
With Will Call/Kiosk, you won't receive any paper or electronic tickets for your order. Instead, you'll just take your photo ID and purchase credit card to the venue Will Call window or any venue ticket kiosk on the day of the game.

That Meet the Parents reference made me laugh.
I don't understand why everyone is complaining about the stickers, though. Yes, something permanent would look better, but it'd be more expensive to do, the Mets wouldn't make any more money from it (and it would be more expensive to change if the park changed names, but that's probably less of an issue because the new sponsor would pay for it). The bottom line is that the Mets are a business, and they're not going to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars for something if they're not going to get a return from it.
That reminds me of a restaurant I went to that had a locking, one-person bathroom with both a urinal and a toilet in it. If there's only going to be one person in there at a time, why spend $200 on a urinal? That's the same thing as the stickers. You're spending some extra money on something that might be nice, but you're losing money on it for no reason.

After seeing them first hand, I can honestly say I have little issue with the stickers. Definately not a big deal afterall.
I'm going to give the Mets the benefit of the doubt on the turf. I'm sure they will do something a little more permanent. I just wish they would do it before the Grand Opening. All they need to do is take a few of those shrubs from the plaza area and plant them near the apple. You can call it the "Big Apple Garden."

Does anyone know the measurements of the opening day tickets? They are larger than the regular tickets. I am looking for ticket holder but i don't think they will fit into a holder 3inches wide

Me too. But what I think is happening people are holding their $$$ aside in case a good deal for opening day comes up some where. I believe once opening day (night) is done with the dominos will fall the rest of the week and tickets will start to move .....Of course the weather has to coroperate in all this too.
I think it's that there is no real rush to catch the second or third game for a bunch of reasons.
OD is the big one, and they have hade the park open three times already.
April nights are cold in the ballpark.
Most fans leave the park early on weekday nights because they have to be up in the morning.
Many parents will not take the kids to a weeknight game, ends too late.
Whats the rush to see the second, or third game anyway when you can wait another day or two and go to a weekend day game.
Face it, April 16th is the Yanks Home opener. Lots of TV's will be turned on to that game
Sorry, someone had to say it.

The Yankees home opener is a day game... The Mets play Thursday night.
That said, I think there will be a lot of eaten tickets for next Wednesday and Thursday... Mets fans are nothing like Yanks fans when it comes to buying tix because of the Shea Stadium mentality... 'There will always be cheap tickets avaialble'.

You're not off on any of your points, and I agree with all of them...except the last one. If I undertsand you correctly, I just do not see how people watching the Yankee game has anything to do with the Mets' attendance. A Mets fan is not going to stay hom just to watch the Yankee game - they may DVR it, like I did for the final game at RYS and the first Cubs game, but to use that as a reason NOT to go to a Mets game, I just don't see the logic. But that just me.

Good find!
On the question of the Mets Muesum, do you see any area in the Citi Field plans for it?
I did find a reference to it on this Mets site page: Citi Field Overview (http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/nym/ballpark/citifield_overview.jsp)
Last line in the AMENITIES/FAN ENHANCEMENTS section.
"Numerous permanent attractions built into the master plan add to Citi Field's family-friendly environment, including: an expanded Fan Fest family entertainment area within the ballpark on the Concourse level, an enhanced outfield Picnic Area adjacent to the batter's eye, multiple party deck areas,
and an interactive METS museum with club memorabilia and Hall of Fame displays."
My guess would be between the Bridge and CF. Door might say Verizon currently. Gary might have a picture. :D

I think the biggest reason for the availability is, as ribant said, people have already been to the park, whether it was the St. John's game, the exhibition games, the Sunday workout, or even the tours. I bet if Wednesday was truly the second game/event ever at the ballpark, there would only be a few expensive tickets left. But at this point, the "I really need to see the new park as soon as possible" crowd has already been there.

Harrah's Entertainment in deal with NY Mets
Associated Press, 04.10.09, 08:25 AM EDT
Privately held Harrah's Entertainment said Friday that signed a multiyear deal with the New York Mets that makes it one of the team's signature partners.
Terms were not disclosed.
The casino operator's agreement includes the Caesars Club, a 12,000-square-foot area that will serve food and drinks at the Mets' Citi Field. The deal, which includes the Mets' minor league affiliates, also gives Harrah's a major advertising presence within Citi Field.
In addition, Harrah's will give Mets fans special offers to its Atlantic City, N.J. casinos :D and will provide theme nights at the stadium.
The Mets are scheduled to play their home opener at Citi Field on Monday. :clapping

I do understand the idea of accepting 400 million bucks for the name but that doesn't mean we have to call it that.
Another thing, I am a Yankee fan. I do not dislike the Mets at all. As a matter of fact I root for them. I'm a baseball fan.
My suggestion for the new stadium is:
SECOND SHEA!!!
What do you guys think? Have at it. Lets come up with some new names and we can vote on them.

Granted, Ebbets Field had a lot of ads, but at least they were uniform, and just on the outfield fence. It Citi, the team built extra walls for the sole purpose of putting ads on them. That just seems like a backwards way of building a stadium to me. The concepts of an "ad wall" seems so unnatural. Do they know it's OK to just have a wall be a wall? You do not have to cover every square inch of the stadium with a bright color.

Been gone a while and i see the main topic is still the ad boards. Yes a little mish moshy and wish they didnt cover the bullpen fence?? why did they do that?? but other then that i like the much needed colorful pallette it gave the park.. Dark Green, soot walls and dark blue steel everywhere else was kinda depressing me...

At Ebbets that was taken care of by the buildings across the street.

What is that, 35 full-sized ads inside the stadium? 40? Does any other team in sports have anything close to this?
It's the same thing at Yankee Stadium.

That might not be so true. The Dodgers had deals with the apartment buildings outside of Ebbets field, so they could have huge ads on them.

I hope this is just a matter of "it's still in progress, we'll make a big announcement in the near future, once the pressures of getting the park ready for opening day is past". That's totally understandable.
Maybe they'll name the location of the Mets Museum, Shea Hall Or Payson Place (poor pun, but hopefully you get the point).
That would be cool.
It would be even cooler if the location is that enormous retail space on the corner of 126th Street.
However, until that happens, I'm going to have a real tough time passing that floor-to-ceiling picture of Ebbets Field and the club named after it whenever I turn left on the concourse off the top of JRR.

I really don't care about the ads, regardless of what some hater here wants to say. They stick out and are annoying at first, but they quickly blend into the beauty of the ballpark. I am not going to Citi to read ads. If I want that, I'll open the yellow pages, drive through times square, or ride the subway. Just my :twocents::twocents:

You're not off on any of your points, and I agree with all of them...except the last one. If I undertsand you correctly, I just do not see how people watching the Yankee game has anything to do with the Mets' attendance. A Mets fan is not going to stay hom just to watch the Yankee game - they may DVR it, like I did for the final game at RYS and the first Cubs game, but to use that as a reason NOT to go to a Mets game, I just don't see the logic. But that just me.

Something that amazes me is demand for OD has not diminished over time. Citi Field has been open four times already. New Yankee has been open three times and the secondary market for both official openers has been holding steady.
OD will be my third visit to Citi, and I know some of you have been there 3 or 4 times already.

Pages and pages of stadium ad discussion. Really, who cares? Crappy ads in baseball stadiums are the norm. They're ADS! So they have garbage up there now, trust me, there will be ugly ads during the full life of this park and the ones that replace it. Ads are intrusions and 99% of them are terrible.
Advertisers don't care what other ads look like, in their minds, they want to stand out so uniformity for the sake of stadium aesthetics isn't high on their priority list. And management could care less.
They probably made suggestions to their clients to keep it simple but as long as the sponsorship check cleared, so be it. It's the game that matters, my friends. The game, the team and overall great memories we all hope to have.
"Wow, great game, but the ads sucked."

One thing I do know is that the pressure is on as to how they payoff on this Mets Museum. The Mets and their fans deserve something every bit as cool as what other teams have done to celebrate their history.
That includes the team across the bridge and their Monument Park.
I say that with all seriousness too, because although they may outnumber us in flags, trophies and HOFers, we love our Mets just as much (and arguably more since its way easier to front run than to cheer for a team that disappoints as much as ours does) and after 40+ years, our history is just as colorful.
So if management can choose to name one of their exclusive clubs after another team's long departed stadium over this team's recently departed one, let's hope they can do this team and its fanbase right with an amazing homage to its past.
Fingers crossed.

I agree with you 100%. The ads at NYS just look better than the CF ads. The ad boards at CF are very "chaotic" while the ones at YS are much more uniform like you said.
Yes, they're just ads so it's really not a big deal, but since it does affect the aesthetics of the ballpark I don't see any problem with people sharing their opinions on them. In the end it's no different than debating the wall color.

No, just a great opportunity to see a game where you may not otherwise be able to - Empire Suite, Bridge Terrace or Knothole Alley, and support a worthy cause.

Agreed Island.. This Corey character has been an obnoxious poster and i see he has been attacking your posts as well. I think he needs to settle down and relax.. That said i can't beleive all the banter over the ads. They are what make places like Times Square or Vegas so Unique, yes all the lights and ads. Without them i think Citifield looked really bland..
Tom,
Some perspective.
This all started because I said I didn't care about the Bob's Discount Furniture ad at CF and said it was no better or worse than Zales or Sharper Image ads at NYS. . People were getting all hot & bothered about the "quality" of CF ads vs NYS ads and I feel all those are crappy mall stores
That opinion resulted in an attack by IE, which I can't link to because he took it down and then he continued via PM.
The truth is that I wasn't the first person he's attacked in the CF threads because he didn't like the content of a post (or a series of posts that veered off topic). But when he goes off topic, that is OK of course. I
When I responded to that post, I said it was unneccessary and uncalled for and reminded him that I did help him with his Shea get together. BIG MISTAKE.
He didn't like that I said I helped reaching out to media regarding the Shea get together few few months back. Then when I answered him back, without any insults, he had no guts to reply.
The facts are that I reached out to 3 separate WFAN contacts I have (2 hosts that I know directly & indirectly and also a producer) along with Matt Cerrone (who I also know), to help get the word out about that day. It was an insult to my intelligence to tell me I didn't do anything and he knows it's not true.
The truth is that he is the 1 and only person I have attacked in the CF threads and that is because I was provoked. People may not like me because I am honest, I speak my mind, and I don't whine about minutae and the Wilpons...but I never attack other people. He attacked me that day, he attacked me today (look at how he edited his post).
I'll state the same thing here I did in my PM to him...
Chris did a great thing in posting all those pictures over the past year, I really appreciated it. But I think the publicity he has gotten to his head. From where I sit, he thinks he is the "leader" of this thread when the reality is he was in the right job at the right time and was kind enough to share his experience with us.
I am sorry for veering far off topic here but my side of the story needed to be presented. I'm not sorry I have been attacking him, considering what he did to me to provoke it. But I do apologize to everyone who read any of these posts and had to get caught up in this nonsense.

Correction:
The Fox News ad at Shea was in foul territory in RF right next to the LED board. Its tiny.
God, who cares. I think Budweiser is horrible beer, but I don't give a rat's ass that there's a huge ad for it.

First Arpielle , then bobs discount furniture, then freecreditreport.com....now BIG NUT BARS, Foxnation.com and Lincoln blocking the bullpen windows....lol. The ad choices are very suspect at CitiField.

You're comparing apples and oranges. If Times Square or Las Vegas switched out all their neon and digital ads for static billboards, those places would look hideous, cluttered and tacky rather than "unique".

How are these any better and at the end of the day, who cares?
I think the next ad at CF will be for WhyDoYankeeFansWorrySoMuchAboutTheMets.org

HAHAHA that is classic. Show me who you talked to and I will retract.
I emailed Matt - NOT YOU...I have seven emails Matt and I sent back and forth. YOU ARE A FRAUD.
I spoke to the head of promotions at the FAN on the phone three times for the rally. NOT ONE MENTION WAS MADE ABOUT THE RALLY BEFORE I CALLED. You claim to me that you know someone, yet this alleged person never mentioned it to anyone at the station. FUNNY, I WAS THE ONE WHO WAS ON THE PHONE WITH THEM ON THE AIR TWICE, NOT YOU. EVEN FUNNIER, I DIDN'T CALL IN EITHER TIME. BOTH TIMES I WAS TRANSFERRED FROM THE PROMOTIONS DEPARTMENT.
YOU ARE A FRAUD. YOU ARE TAKING CREDIT FOR MY WORK AND THE WORK OF OTHERS HERE.
I sent emails to every media outlet. I have email trails saved with Peter Haskell at WCBS radio, segment producers from CBS2 TV and SNY, the Queens Courier, Ken Belson at the NYTimes, Katie Strang and Roderick Boone from Newsday.
I'll be in Section 129 ALL GAME on Monday. Attack me there.
Seriously, both of you need to take your chest thumping to PM's. No one else really cares who put the "Meet at Shea" thing together.
We just want to talk about the stadium. Which is a mighty beautiful stadium, indeed, one in which I hope never to see two mets fans fighting each other.

Here's what I sent to Adam The Bull on FaceBook (I graduated HS with Adam).
Adam,
I know some people who are organizing a grassroots farewell for SHea Stadium this weekend. It looks like the the stadium will be completely torn down in the next week and they asked for help reaching out to the media. So far CBS 880 is definitely covering the event and there's probably going to be some print coverage as well.
Anyway can you pass along the info below to the morning & afternoon producers/hosts so they can maybe give it a quick plug. All those guys are Mets fans so I am sure they would be in to it.
Thanks (and good luck with Heilman).
To whom it may concern,
Good evening and thank you for your attention to this message.
As it is evident to all from the New York Area, the end is terribly near for the ballpark that housed our beloved New York Mets for 44 years. The life of the ballpark that hosted four World Series’, a Pope, The Yankees, The Beatles, The Stones, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and a Red Cross staging area after 9/11 is rapidly nearing its end. While it has been known since September 28th that there would be no more games in the park, the end did not fully begin to appear until the past two weeks when sections of the structure came down rapidly. Now, the steel skeleton is nearly all that remains of the park, and appears to be gone by the end of this weekend.
On Saturday, January 31st at 12:00pm, a large group of fans are planning to organize at the big blue ballpark one last time to say farewell to the old girl. There is no cost of course, and the day will include a walking tour around the site one last time, stories, photographs, and much more.
Last weekend, groups of fans and tourists flocked to the site to take pictures, share stores, and even leave notes on the fence around the demo site in what was a truly emotional two days for fathers with their children and tourists from around the world. This weekend, we would like to organize one formal farewell that was never done by the team for the fans. In the Bronx, memorabilia has been carried with dignitaries and schoolchildren from old park to new park, while no such occasion has been held for the Mets fans.
We invite you and any of your staff to attend the event and help us document the collective organization of fans at Shea Stadium one last time, not for a funeral, but for a celebration.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time. Your input, suggestions for greatest exposure, assistance, and support would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for the diligence in your reply and I look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
Best regards,
Christopher G.M. Swann

As for me not knowing Matt Cerrone.
I guess that wasn't me hanging at his table on Monda during the Metsblog party

Instead of counting how many men we left on base throughout, I will share with you some pics of our bloggerati gang. You'll see Metsie, Coop of My Summer Family, Will of Smear the Q.u.e.e.r (ugh, obscenity filter, really?), Dykstraw of our Divas and Dykstraw, and of course "TV's Matt Cerrone" as we affectionately call him--and a guest appearance by SNY.tv's own Ted Berg. Make sure to check out their links on the right sidebar!
