Larry Jones doesn't like Citi Field... and it looks like David Wright has been hinting at it too.

Saw that...
I have no issue with Citi Field. I am glad it is like it is. The Mets have played more games on the orad than at home so far this season and aren't hitting home runs there either. Tough. In the old days, even Citi Field would have been considered a small ballpark.
My heart bleeds for these multimillionaire ballplayers who won't be able to make $20 Million per season on their next contract because they can't hit homers at Citi Field.
As for pitchers, they will want to come here...

Pray that itis either pouring at 4pm or it stops altogether. The hour by hour weather channel report for Flushing has 40% thunderstorms all evening, so I will just guess and say that they will NOT postpone the game an will do everything possible to get it in. You may be in for a delay, so I hope with those seats you have a 'club' to duck into.
BTW, did you ever use the DAP option with your parents?
Hey Mandrake, thanks for the advice, I tend to be optimistic with most things in life but everyone at work started to get to me i guess....YES i did wind up getting those seats and mom and dad had an awesome time. they couldn't believe how nice CF was and loved being able to stretch and get up and down with ease. personally i didn't love them b/c being under the overhang I didn't really feel like part of the game like i usuallly do. Don't get me wrong, no complaints but just my two cents. But it was awesome, thanks for the info on that too. Let's Go Mets!

I got my letter from the Mets today, Presale is Friday morning. If you're talking about Stubhub it's one of two things. Either the sellers will substitute those sold with better seats (permitted under the TOU), or the sellers are "naked shorting" the tickets. They believe prices will go down, so they'll sell them at a high price now and buy them lower after they go on sale, whether it be from the primary or secondary markets
Did you get a letter in the mail for the presale or was it an email? Any other STH's get this invite? I would love to go to that show.

Nah, lucky was last year when we won the Year of a Million Dreams grand prize stay in Walt Disney's private suite. Now that was lucky.
I did wear my Club 33 shirt to the Delta Club at Citi Field ! Club 33 blows the Delta Club away.
Funny I am wearing my Club 33 polo shirt today. Love the club. It is funny watching people in New Orleans Square give you a weird look when you push the door bell.

Unique PIN? I got a letter and it's the same PIN that I got for my account since the beginning of the season, the one used to access the Mets Marketplace link to StubHub, or for plan holder or Club Mets pre-sales or ticket specials.
Since you have so many plans maybe you just didn't recognize it as one you already have :)

Yeah it's unique to your account :waving
It's only 4 digits long so hide your number because if a computer guy knows your account number he can easily write a little program to test out all 10,000 combinations (and statistically is most likely to get it right around the 5,000th try)

I know its slightly off-topic, but I was wondering if the people who received the letters in the mail for the pre-sale would not mind posting (or private message) the website that you need to access - assuming the website is not some "unique" address.
I am a full season ticket holder and already have my Acct # and the old pin from earlier this year - however I am stuck on the road for work and won't be able to open any mail until Saturday.
Really want to get my dad 4 tix for his 60th bday in August.

Thanks! It works, I guess! Didn't barcode or anything, but says Instant Delivery, so see what happens.
Alpine, as a purchaser of many pre-paid parking passes, may I suggest you also look to sell them elsewhere besides SH. If I wanted to buy a parking pass on stubhub at, let's say, $15, which is less than face, it would still cost me $25, with the $5 minimum charge and the $5 to print it. You, on the other hand, would see only $12.75 after paying SH 15%. SH would collect $12.25 on your parking pass.
You have an advantage in that you can transfer your parking pass through the Mets. I believe it costs $4. I have found sellers on cl, sent them the price by paypal and the seller either mails me my pass or if it is last minute, transfers or emails it to me.
I also see tickets on SH that include parking. Once, I bought the cheapest tickets that include parking and resold the tickets and got my parking pass free!

I have no problem with Citi Field's dimensions either. I don't attribute the size of the ballpark to Wright and Beltran's lack of HRs because they can't even hit HRs on the road either. It has more to do with them than it does the ballpark.
Chipper has been somewhat of a whining baby this season. Blaming a loss on an umpire in his post game interview, and now making excuses for not being able to hit a HR in Citi Field. Wasn't he supposed to be the guy we hated but respected? It's hard to respect someone who is a whiner.

Accu-weather.com is far, far more accurate than weather.com (Weather Channel), which is pretty much worthless in my opinion.
Accu-weather does it hour-by-hour. They say: thunderstorms at 4, cloudy until 7, thunderstorms at 7, and then mostly cloudy from 8 (or a little earlier) until 1 AM.
A delay is possible, but a rainout would shock me. Not than accu-weather is infallible, but they've been spot on for all the games I've gone to.

It helps if you have out of state or non baseball fans. But it was not impossible. I knew that citi field was going to be a different story. Between the fewer seats and the greater number of people signing up, those days are gone :-( It was fun while it lasted.

That's the point, isn't it?
Imagine a ticket package that wrapped up face-value tickets to a Yankee interleague Saturday game, plus 4 more all-Saturday games in July/August with some very cool promos and/or some highly contending teams:
Sat 7/11 - vs. Reds - Kids Lunchbox
Sat 8/01 - vs. D'backs - Build-A-Bear
Sat 8/15 - vs. Giants - Magnetic Picture Frame
Sat 8/22 - vs. Phillies - Citi Promo (TBD)
You'd think these would sell like hotcakes. And yet they're probably not because the cheapest tickets are in the Baseline Box stratosphere: $105 for Yankees and $90 for all the Saturday games, plus those $6 per-ticket fees, add up to about $500 per ticket for the package.

Not really.
The Yankee game in Baseline Box is $105. To keep your cost down, if that is your plan, one should look at taking four games in September. You can get a Nats game (Value), Fish game (Bronze), Braves game (Bronze), and the Friday 'Stros game for $45 + 3 x $60 = $225. Add the $105 and you can get the Yankee game for $330, and see four other games that may have pennant race implications. If you wanted to see the Dodgers and/or Cubs, you'd obviously have to pay more.
Would you pay $200 for a baseline box seat to a Mets / Yanks game? Would you pay $130 to see 4 other games in Baseline Box seating? If the answer is yes, then by all means, buy this pack.
If you have no other way in, this is a good deal, in my opinion, provided you pick it right.
Cheers!

You're right, it does drop as low as $317.50 (for non-plan holders) if the 4 games are the 3 Marlins games in Sept (the only value games left) and 1 bronze game. Add $15 for any bronze game replacing one of the Marlins games.

I'd NEVER pay to see the same team three nights in a row. That is why I chose those four games, spread out. See four different teams, 3 at bronze, one at value -- two are Fri night games, I believe. Again games in September that may / better have playoff implications for the Mets.... Not a bad deal at $330 + fees for 5 games.

No, it's actually in the ground floor lobby of the third base side VIP entrance, next to the elevator. I accidentally found this room a couple weeks ago when, just for the heck of it, I decided to take the elevator down from field level while leaving the game.

Was not able to peruse stubhub before the game...were there any good deals for tonights game?
Of course... I saw Delta club for $88, metro box for as low as $50, Left Field Reserve for as low as $20, Baseline box as low as $30..
That was within the last hour but in my experience almost any gameday if you look all day you can find a good deal somewhere

I predict they will have the 'exclusive' lottery, which very few people will actually win, of course.
And then get ready for the Subway series pack.
OK, I did not invent this, but isn't this what they did for Opening Day ??:reporter:
Oh, it feels so good to be right once in a while !!! I found one of my posts where I predicted the subway series pack idea, (and of course took flack for it from some people)
BUT I was right and as a reward...........I won the lottery. I know it says that notices will be emailed, but I need to call the Mets at 9:30 am as instructed. The extension I need to call is slightly different than the one on my caller ID, so I wonder if they call from a main line (??).
I was sitting here wondering if Johan will pitch that series, and if so, what game.:disbelief: And should I do 2 tickets to 2 games, or all four for one game? Decisions, decisions.
The conga line starts tomorrow at 9:30:party:

If they stay the way they're lined up now without skipping Redding, or a rainout between now and then, or any of the myriad of other issues which could arise, Johan would pitch the finale against the Cardinals on Thursday afternoon and miss the Yankees (he'll face them at YS this Sunday.
If I had won, I'd have bought 2 for Friday and 2 for Sunday, for what that's worth.

Looking forward to coming up next week, and just got our tickets for the following games.....
Friday, June 19 - Prom club-sect 411 Row 3, seats 1&2
Saturday, June 20 - Caesars club - sect 319 Row 4 seats 5&6
Sunday, June 21 - Delta Club 12 - Row 12 seats 1&2
Monday, June 22- Delta Club 16 - Row 10 seats 4&5
Tuesday, June 23- We hope to see everyone in the suite
so yeah, we're about broke now....
We're hoping this will give us a pretty good prospective of the new ballpark.
While its nearly impossible to pick up on every aspect or nuances of this park in just five days, we're hoping to get as good a feel for the park as possible.
Please, if anyone has any experience with these sections and wants to send along a 'heads-up', we gladly welcome your input.
So far, what we know is "The Shake Shack" for a bugrer, Box Frites and definitely many Brooklyn Ale's.....
Cant wait!!!

No, it's actually in the ground floor lobby of the third base side VIP entrance, next to the elevator. I accidentally found this room a couple weeks ago when, just for the heck of it, I decided to take the elevator down from field level while leaving the game.
It's a really cool room, lined with several of those yearbook covers going all the way back to the 60's. I really wish they would put more Mets memorabilia like this in the concourses where everyone can see them.
Correct. If you either take the elevator out of the game, or enter through the first or third base VIP gates, you pass the yearbook covers. And CitiField was absolutley rocking today. Felt like a playoff game. This game should put the claim that Citi has lessened the crowd atmosphere to rest. Obviously crowds are more subdued in April and May, doubly subdued when they have a new toy to explore, but come an almost midseason series with the rivals, it rocked like the parking lot used to.

37,152 tonight.
Since April 20, the Mets have had 18 games draw at least 38,000 and 3 draw fewer than 38,000. Bizarrely (to me at least), the 3 games against Philly in that span are the only 3 under 38,000.
The crowd was really strong tonight, nice and vocal except right after the Ibanez HR and right after the Rollins HR. Would've been stronger with a couple thousand more though...

This series is a "gold" series, which would explain the empty seats. $60 to sit in the left field reserved (and that kind of money for tickets with a chance of rain)? No thanks, I'd rather watch on TV.

I also agree that the Gold games are way too high. Since the Mets have now opened a Pandora's box by discounting gold games vs the Phillies of all people, fans will now expect discounts....which is a good thing if you are looking to buy tickets. However, this can steam the fan base that paid full price, and people will become hesitant about buying games far in advance.
I know people on BF like the LF landing and the Pepsi Porch, but I think those two sections are way overpriced to sit in glorified OF bleachers. (my opinion)

LF Landing and RF Porch price limit for me is $32 per ticket.
Anything above that is way over priced.
Simple solution only use value and bronze pricing next year.
FULL STH get value pricing
Partial gets prices in between value and bronze.
Mets have egg on their face today since you had johan vs the phillies and they could only manage 37K.
Mr Wilpon cut those ticket prices

I bought a ticket in the Ceasers Club from the Mets for the "Club Mets" discount of $60 yesterday (regular price for a gold tired game $90) and thought it was a good value. There hasn't been a rainout at Citi Field all season. Since this is Citi Field's inaugural year (in case you didn't know, the "Mets" used to play at the Shea stadium until 2008), that means the first home rainout this year - or next year, if it doesn't happen at all this year - will be the very first rainout at Citi Field! And if it does happen tomorrow, I'll have another "first" to add to my collection.
So...

Anyone got a cheap Prom Res single they need to get rid of? Cheapest I can find on StubHub is $20, which is below face but not when I add in the $5 min fee plus $5 e-transfer fee. I end up paying $30 and the seller only gets $17 out of it on a $23 face value ticket. Bleh.
I'd be willing to use PayPal to send someone $25 for any Prom Res ticket e-transferred to me. With you paying the $4 transfer fee you get $21 back on $23 face, while I pay $5 less than on my best deal via StubHub.
It's quite possible that if I wait until 5pm I'll be able to get one for $15 on StubHub + $10 in fees = $25, but I'd rather see the seller get $21 instead of $12.75.
If anyone's interested drop me a PM!

Have both my PR and PRI pair for 19.99 per ticket. Ill be looking for about 20 each at the park too. I guess ill stand by the ticket windows since theres no prom left people will probably be turned off by the fact that theyll have to shell out triple digits to get in from the BO.

the braves still have a the biggest draw factor in the division
plus the prices are too high.
the mets got 40K a night with value & bronze pricing for the nats/marlins series.
The Mets are going to have to take a good look at their tiered pricing philosophy in 2010 and beyond. They have WAY too many "gold" games on the schedulde and as a result can't even sellout weekday "gold" games vs the Phillies. They really need to restrict this "gold" status to select weekend games ONLY. If tonight was a "bronze" or even a "silver" they probably sell out with less of a problem. The're just hurting themselves.

Was hoping to go tonight but can't do it. :(
Anyone want two free tickets for tonight? 524 Row 7 on the aisle with 525.
You'll just need to pay the $4 E-ticket transfer by CC. I'll check my pm's for another hour or so if anyone wants em. If someone wants them for sure PM me your email address.
EDIT: TICKETS ARE GONE.

Be careful. They keep a close eye on people around the box office areas. Don't get caught selling tickets too close to the ballpark. You're better off out by the parking lots where you see fans streaming in.

The idea is right, it's the execution that's messed up. Do you honestly believe that a Saturday Yankees Subway series game in June should be priced the same as a Monday Nationals game in April? Weekend and summer games are worth more than weekday and early/late season games. The problem here as people have said is there's way too many "Gold" games. All mon-thurs weekday games should be "bronze" or "value" IMO

Does anyone know what is going on BEFORE the game on Sunday at YS? I heard (but wasn't paying attention) during the game on Monday night, that people should come early. Anyone???

Honestly, yes...I do they they should all be the same. But these are the times we live in. <<<shrugging>>> I would like to know what the % of teams have "tier" games and those who don't. I would guess it's about 65 % no tier...and the other 35% (including our team) with a tier plan.

Why on earth would it be the same price, it's not even CLOSE to the same value. One price fits all is a concept from the dinosaur ages and doesn't reflect reality. Here are the hard numbers, 23 of 30 teams, 77%, use some sort of tier pricing. About half of those have a two tier system for regular and more desirable opponents. Phillies have different pricing for summer and non-summer. Others have 3 tiers, and 6 teams have an all out mets-type tier system: Mets, Cubs, White Sox, Indians, Blue Jays & Nationals.

Thanks for doing the legwork on finding out who uses & who doesn't use the tier system. I'm shocked to see so many teams using it. I just think it sucks ass that so many teams and their owners want to charge us more money because a team within their division or a team with a few extra all stars gives the owners the right to have to charge more. It's just not right.....sorry, called me old fashion. Trust me, I understand where you are coming from explaining why they do it. And I know why they do it....I'm just saying it sucks. :)

Depends how you look at it, you could also see it as them charging less for the crappier nights. But yes, most of these tiers charge more for higher value games. But really, that's completely in line with what they're worth. If the price was cheaper most of the difference would just go into broker's hands

I don't have a problem with tiered pricing. After all, all games are not created equal as far as their attractiveness, whether it's the weather (e.g., early April), demand (summer when school is out), opponent (Mets-Yankees is far more interesting than Mets-Nats), or timing (weekend is far more in demand than weekday). I do, however, agree with those who think that the overall pricing is too high and there are far too many gold games.

I'm not taking the time to do the math, but I find it hard to believe that selling out a bronze game creates even close to the same amount of revenue as selling 37,000 tickets to a gold game. So, I don't think they're hurting themselves in the least as far as money.

A must read
http://www.reuters.com/article/bigMoney/idUS68202797020090610
Excerpt:
Now let's say The Producers is being shown at a 1,000-seat theater with tickets priced at $100 each. That means a sold-out house will take in $100,000 in a night. Now let's say a scalper buys up all the tickets and sells just one to Bill Gates for $150,000. Well, now the scalper has made a nice profit. Bill Gates has his seat. And The Producers plays on opening night to an audience of one.
The key here is that the only way the scalper can sell a ticket for $150,000 is if he buys up all the seats. Otherwise, Bill would happily pay $100 like everyone else. This is, of course, an oversimplification. Scalping has become a lot more sophisticated than it used to be. The fact that many tickets are now sold at auction makes it easier for scalpers to adjust prices downward if tickets go unsold and means that fewer seats will be left empty.

But really, that's completely in line with what they're worth. If the price was cheaper most of the difference would just go into broker's hands
The thing is, by combining the higher ticket fees for better games with the tiered pricing system AND going nuts with the luxury ticket prices, they've ended up with a situation that I assume can't repeat itself next year: a whole lot of tickets that are going for well over $60 face, or even well over $100 face, for weeknight "gold" games in the summer.
I could still be proven wrong but given this economy, not many people are willing to shell out $100+ a ticket for a regular season baseball game. I'm a CCLUB season ticket holder, and there's demand to pay face or even a bit more up to the $60 Silver tickets; but for the Gold games it's much harder. I can sell some at close to face on StubHub but then lose 15% on top of that.
Most games I move over to Section 324-326 at some point and sit in one of the many empty seats there. Both Tuesday and Wednesday there was an entire ROW free in Section 325. I noticed it was Row 2, the "worst" Caesars Platinum seats on the chart, priced at $210 per ticket face value. I guess for a $90 CCLUB face ticket, getting to sit there should feel like a steal, but it still didn't. Closer to about right.
Yeah yeah, I should buy my tickets to go to the game... And I do use a lot of my Golds. But even then I'm giving away money, because if I hadn't paid $90 each up front months before the season, I could have gotten the same (actually better) tickets in CCLUB thru Club Mets or Flushing Flash for 33% off! I tells ya those apples don't taste good.
Then there's the up to 50% surcharge they hit people in the front 2 rows of certain sections. Most people would not pay that, and would rather pay $20 less per ticket to sit in row 3 or 4. That pricing scheme hurts anyone holding LFLAND Gold, Pepsi Porch Gold, PC Gold, etc., while conversely greatly helping those holding LFLAND, Porch and PC tickets in rows 3 and 4. I met a friend of a friend on Tuesday who's a STH in LFGOLD and he's pretty bitter about it. His Gold tickets for Tuesday were $72 face versus $48 for Row 3: a freakin' 50% premium!! For seats that can't see the entire LF warning track, or the out of town scoreboard, or even the main scoreboard except at a very oblique angle! That's nuts!!!

I understand GordonGecko's point about the Mets wanting to capture as much of that aftermarket mark-up as possible, but doing so a priori is very difficult to do right. The Mets doubtlessly based their 2009 season pricing (announced in mid-2008) on aftermarket ticket sales research based on data from 2000 through 2007, when the NY economy was the best it's ever been, only to open the gates amid one of the worst economic slumps in recent history.
For next year I would like to see (a) more Gold games made Silver, (b) less of a jackup for the front 2 rows of whatever sections, (c) serious price reductions in face prices, especially for the lower levels of the stadium (PC and PC Gold are also overpriced but not nearly as badly).

Point taken... The Mets are in the business of making money, not filling a ballpark or getting the most fans in to see the game as possible. If they can fill more than 75% of the stadium at a 50% price markup from a base price X, they've done better than a sellout at the lower price. In other words, from the Mets' point of view, the ideal price point is where you fill a smaller ballpark to about 90% capacity of every game (37,800 on 42,000) for face value; that makes a nice profit while also avoiding making it blatantly obvious that the fans are getting squeezed ("look, the stadium's nice and full, and 37,800 is about what we sold in the prime years of the mid-1980s in a bigger bowl of a stadium").
Which they're apparently doing this year, but they'd better not let the numbers fool them. A great number of those "sold at face value" tickets are through ticket plans sold before the ballpark opened. They've admitted themselves that STH plans are way up as a percent of tickets sold. BUT, given how the real market prices for those seats have held up AFTER the season began, a very large percent of those STH plans are NOT GOING TO BE RENEWED WITHOUT PRICE REDUCTIONS and/or restructuring.

I sold my "single" for last night's game on Stubhub in less than an hour. Of course, I listed it for $35 (my face was $30) so I got face back after fees. The guy was so happy last night he said he couldn't believe he forund Prom Club behind the plate for $35 when face in the other rows were $72+ I guess that is one benefit to getting row 5 DAP Prom Club at PIR prices!

Yeah, me too. I can't stand the guy but looks like he was pragmatic and made the right choice. Sell both for a loss
Keep one ticket, tour the park, sell the other on SH for a big loss
Keep one ticket, tour the park, keep the other in case it is called before 5 innings
Keep both in case the game is a rain out.

That's not new. Very good chips though--probably twice as thick as ordinary tortilla chips.
This past Tuesday I decided to try the nachos from one of the nachos grande stands (there are 3 in the park). The nachos themselves were quite stale, but the toppings were absolutely fantastic. I got the steak with cheese, fresh jalapeno, pico de gallo, and salsa. I added onions from the toppings bar. That thing must have weighed two pounds, and was $9. Too bad the chips themselves were so stale. They are apparently made in house.
The interesting thing is the young lady dishing up the toppings was wearing a blue smoke uniform, yet everyone else at the stand was wearing a standard green Citi Field uni. I wonder if these stands are also part of the partnership with Meyer.

The list grows shorter... Yesterday I tried Blue Smoke for the first time, sampling the Pulled Pork Sandwich and the wings, along with the Blue Smoke Ale.
The pulled pork sandwich was pretty good. I wish it came with either cole slaw, more pickles and/or fries though. I can get the fries on the side but pickles/slaw seem like a necessary component. Giving just two or three tiny pickle chips seems like such a tease!
The wings were good but I'm not really a "sauced up chicken wing" guy any more. Too fatty. I'll admit to a weakness for deep-fried chicken wings but that's just because I like crunchy, spicy things in general.
Left to try: the Blue Smoke ribs and french fries, CotD Clam/Corn Chowder and Lobster Roll, Mama's heros/cannoli (I've had Mama's heroes at Shea and I expect these are about the same?). Also the sushi sampling (and/or shrimp shumai) at the Daruma stand.
So far, the Shake Shack burgers are top of my list, closely followed by CotD shrimp po'boy, friend flounder sandwich and calamari (when fresh and hot). Then comes the El Verano tacos, closely followed by the Blue Smoke pulled pork. The hanger steak sandwich with garlic fries served in the Caesars Club is also very good, right there with the Blue Smoke/El Verano offerings in my opinion.
Also in the Caesars Club are food offerings I've yet to try, from the nearly "full menu" Cascarino's there. They have real pizza ovens and the pizza isn't bad, with authentic texture, though the sauce is overly sweet for my taste. They also have calzones, salads and pasta, such as Penne Alla Vodka, which is going to be my dinner one of these days along with a glass of red wine from the CCLUB bar.
The only thing I've been disappointed with so far is the Daruma shrimp dog. It wasn't bad, just nothing special to me, and the sauces kind of detracted from it.

My buddy's car broke down so he can't make it tonight. And I can't decide what to do. I have the tix on SH for $27 so if they sell I'll net face, but I don't think it will happen. My other choices
Sell both for a loss
Keep one ticket, tour the park, sell the other on SH for a big loss
Keep one ticket, tour the park, keep the other in case it is called before 5 innings
Keep both in case the game is a rain out.
Where are the seats

Then comes the Blue Smoke pulled pork, closely followed by the El Verano tacos.
I dropped by the Prom Club for the first time on Tuesday, and had the spicy sausage. Not bad, though I'd have liked to be able to add some Sriracha "Rooster Sauce" to it for a little crossover/fusion notch-kicking. Maybe I'll bring a bottle in a bag next time :hyper:
The only thing I've been disappointed with so far is the Daruma shrimp dog. It wasn't bad, just nothing special to me, and the sauces kind of detracted from it.

As opposed to Mets ST and plan holder scalpers?
Yes, since as we know there is a fixed number of season ticket accounts and each gets a maximum of 6 concert tickets per account (irrespective of if you have 2, 4, or 10 mets seats). Now each broker with a dozen or more AMEX cards will be able to get about 100 tickets with their automated robots.
That means crappier supply for the rest of us, if we can get tickets at all

Actually it cuts both ways for me.
One of the reasons I have an Amex card is the event presales.
Really? I have an AmEx card and I never get notified of these presales... Do I have to go visit that website every day to see what pops up?

If you have a gold or platnium AMEX card just visit the website and sign up for entertainment emails updates. This will give you presales to most NYC concerts, US open tennis and golf, big east tourny and many other events. Plus AMEX holders are given the chance to buy "preferred seating" that are only offered to card holders.

It might work for some presale opportunities but not all. Gold and Platnium are given special treatment w/ presales and preferred seating opportunities. They ask for your presale # which is the 800# on the back of your card.

Today, I have come across two interesting ways that venues are attempting to stop scalpers. The first one I truly do not understand if it will work, but on the Miley Cyrus upcoming tour (don't laugh, her last tour as Hanna Montana with the Jonas Bros was the hardest ticket ever for me) the tickets are paperless. Not e-ticket vs hard ticket; it's NO ticket.
Scenario one:
All tickets will be sold exclusively through paperless ticket delivery which means fans will not receive a physical concert ticket for their entry into the event. Buying paperless helps ensure fans have secure and convenient access to event tickets at the original sale price. On the day of show, concert-goers just need to bring the credit card they used for the ticket purchase and their government-issued photo ID to the concert. All members of the ticket purchaser’s party must be present at the same time to enter the venue. The venue’s ticket usher will swipe their credit card upon entry and present each person in their party with seat locator slips for quick access into the show. To purchase paperless tickets or for more information, fans should visit www.ticketmaster.com/mileycyrus or call Ticketmaster charge-by-phone number at 1-800-745-3000.
Now, do you think this can work without causing chaos??? (As I do not have an American express card  I can't get into the presale that started 6/10 and have to wait until the 6/13 general public sale.) But what happens when 20,000 screaming teens show up at the Prudential Center in Newark.. and the card holder needs to be there? I see a MESS of epic proportions.
Scenario 2: Springsteen, stung by ticketmaster scams, has begun playing at LiveNation venues. No ticketsnow BS. However, stubhub and ebay have tons of tickets..except for the very small 7 row GA pit near the stage. At Saratoga (SPAC) if you are in the GA pit, you MUST show up with your ID at the will call window and your conf#. You can't post these on stubhub it seems, and people on ebay are selling for $$$$ and saying they 'know' how to get around this. Bragging alert, bragging alert,....I am on a roll and pulled the 7 row GA pit.:waving
Anyway, to folks like Gordon and others who know tickets way better than me, will either of these scenarios work to stop scalping?

Were you able to sell them at the park?
I have to be honest and say I won't buy tix in front of an arena anymore. It's waaay to easy for some guy to sell them on SH, do an e-delivery, then show up in front of the park, sell the physical, and sky off with the money.
Nevermind printing up multiple e-tickets
Yup, I sold them. To allieviate the problem you mentioned, I just offered to walk the buyers in and not have them pay me until they get through the gate. Also I think theres less suspicion when im selling a bunch of prom tickets for below face, rather than say field or metro box. I dont think making 40 bucks on a pair of tickets is worth getting locked up for. And for people that didnt buy in advance, the only thing available as walkups will run you a minimum of 90 bucks on gold games, so outside sellers are really the only affordable way in.
I learned the hard way last year to always asked to be walked to the door. Somebody sold me a metro box gold ticket in box 22B, which of course were invalid when scanned. Fortunatley, I bought a upper reserved ticket for 5 bucks after that, and simply used the invalid metro box ticket for access into the field leveland wound up sitting in an empty box right next to the one we were supposed to have.

Interesting concept. But the problem is that they are forcing the ticket buyer to attend the show.
What if a parent has older teen kids and is willing to let them go but doesn't want to attend themselves?
What if the ticket buyer falls ill the morning of the event? They are now unable to transfer the tickets and have to take a loss on all of them and not just their own ticket.
What if someone wants to give someone else tickets to a show as a gift?
I don't see this as a good solution at all.

I just can not see it working period. In Dec 2007, I waited outside while my wife took my daughter inside "The Rock" or whatever its called. No way am I listening to 20,000 screaming mimi's; I still could hear it out in the street.
Now, if I make the purchase when the general sale opens, I have to go too?
Also, my parents could not pay for the tickets on their AMEX and give the tickets to their grandaughter.
Now, if Citifield did this for Paul McCartney and say there were 40,000 people at each show....(and just say 20,000 bought 2 tickets each). Nobody has tickets, so when the cards are swiped the usher then gives you your seat numbers?? How?? And on what? And exactly how long does it take for 40,000 people to get processed? What a potential disaster.
16 yr old Miley did not dream this up. Someone big is cooking this up and I would think it is ticketmaster as they try to control the primary and secondary markets.

They've tried it before and it just doesn't work, the buyers get pissed off every single time. What you end up having is huge lines, lots of mix ups where they just end up letting you in anyways or denying you (as a paying customer), and most of all, if you can't make it to the show you're screwed out of 100% of your outlay with no recourse.

How do you get your assigned seats ? This type of tour is HUGE and you have high rollers (not me) taking their kids. If it is a disaster, it will be front page news every day across the USA. (My scheme was to sell 2 Mets-Yanks tickets and use the $$ to buy 2 Miley tickets, but they blew up my plan with this ticketless junk)

The "will-call only" method is a very effective way of controlling scalping. Numerous concert artists, especially those who don't charge $300/ticket, often use it for premium seats (ie. first few sections near the stage; front half of the floor, etc). It ensures the entire venue isn't going to be in the will-call line but still keeps the tickets out of the scalpers' hands.
The "paperless ticket" method (ie. you swipe your card as you enter) is just an extension of this. It too has typically been used for the premium seats for some shows (AC/DC did on their most recent tour) but I haven't heard of an entire arena using the system.
The Mets would be doing their fans a great service by changing the rules for tickets sold through lottery (ie. opening day, Yankees, playoffs) by making them will-call only or paperless tickets.
Yes, I suppose there is a small (very, very small) percentage of people who might get stuck by, say, a legitimate medical problem and be unable to attend a show/game for which they have will-call only tickets. In those circumstances, however, some persistence and some phone calls will typically get you a refund. (I know this from experience with Ticketmaster).

How do you get your assigned seats ?
Your seats are assigned at the time of purchas; when the credit card is swiped, you'll get a printed receipt with the seat on it. Like when you return a rental car, and the agent in the garage prints out your receipt right there while you wait.
This type of tour is HUGE and you have high rollers (not me) taking their kids.
Presumably they will be able to use common sense if the buyer is the parent and they are taking their child. Mom or dad comes up and swipes their card, and instead of going in themselves, their two kids go in.
This is a ticketmaster scheme, somehow.
Nope. This is an artist-based system. Anti-scalping methods like this insure that the artist's price is the price people pay to go to the show. It's not as if the tickets are going cheaply here -- Cyrus is charging up to $295/seat, I believe.

Can't say for sure for 315 on the 1st base side, but having sat in 323/324 on the 3rd base side, Row 4 is just about the first row with rain coverage from the Promenade overhang. Looking at a seating chart I'd say 315 is symmetrically the same as 323, but it could be different being on the 1B versus 3B side of the ballpark.

In those circumstances, it's incumbent upon the artist and the venue to ensure that there's sufficient personnel to deal with the crowds. You have enough entry points with enough staff at the gate, and yes, it could work well. Otherwise it won't.
Could you see it working at Citi for the McCartney concerts?
Sure, but there's not the same need for it. McCartney is going to price the tickets closer to the "open market" value. Yes, there could be some scalping of those, but when the face value is so high, the profit margin for the scalpers goes down.
A Springsteen or Billy Joel who prices their tickets at $95 -- thereby allowing a greater range of fans to attend the show and have a shot at those good seats -- is going to have a bigger scalping problem because the good seats for those shows could easily go for several hundred bucks on the open market. McCartney just prices them that high to start with.

There was no sympathy in his voice, only pity.
A man approached the throng waiting for at the Shake Shack, took one look at the winding line and walked away from the Citi Field eatery.
“His loss,” said a Mets’ fan waiting on the line, which snaked through the barricades and ran down a concourse. Those in the know would rather miss Johan Santana pitch than lose their precious place in the Shake Shack line.
This weekend’s Subway Series pits not just the Mets and the Yankees, but the food experience at the teams’ brand new ballparks, Citi Field and Yankee Stadium. So we slipped from the press box, stole a couple of $20s from the boss’ wallet and went looking for eats. Forget peanuts and Cracker Jack. We were on the hunt for Carolina pulled pork and thick shakes.
Both ballparks offer calorie counts for their menus. But we ignored them, just because we could. So here’s a breakdown of what to look for at each ballpark:

There aren’t many choices at either ballpark that cost less than $5 (I know, “shocker” as Billy Wagner would say). Your best bet is the old staple, a hot dog ($6 at Yankee Stadium, $5.75 at Citi) and soda ($3 for a small, $5 for a bottle at the Stadium, $3.50 to $5.50 at Citi).
Just dessert
Wow. That word explains the Citi Field dessert choice. At Mama’s of Corona alone you could choose from Tiramisu ($6.50), chocolate mousse ($6.50), Bindi frozen lemonades ($5.50) and cannoli ($3). There also is frozen custard ($5.25) at the Shake Shack and ice cream floats at Carvel ($5.00).
In the Bronx, there is Carvel ice cream in a helmet cup ($6.50) or in a waffle cone ($5.50). But the clear choice was the Turkey Hill Venice Ice, which was a tasty (but not overly sweet) treat at $6.50.
Spoil yourself (or your retirement fund)
The outer wall of NYY Steak is a glassed-in wine rack, including various vintages of wines and champagne. Champagne. We gazed in, our noses pressed to the glass, after our boss declined our generous offer to give it a try (forward complaints to Evilsportseditor)
Fresh fruit at a ballpark? The answer is yes at Yankee Stadium, where Melissa’s Produce offers four kinds of apples (Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Granny Smith and Fuji), pears, navel oranges and bananas, all two for $3. It also offers fruit cups ($5.50).
At Citi Field, the sushi ($9) at Daruma of Tokyo was fresh and gourmet market -quality. We also saw fresh sushi with jumbo shrimp and tuna ($16). The Caesars Caesar’s Club offers mostly traditional ballpark fare in a comfortable atmosphere.
Don’t see every day
Need kosher? No problem at Yankee Stadium, where Ouri’s Kosher Caterers offer everything from potato knishes ($4.75) to falafel ($8) to a hummus plate with maza ($12) and shawarma ($12).
At Citi Field, the ocean never seemed so close with Catch of the Day’s menu of a fried flounder sandwich ($8.50), grilled shrimp po’ boy ($12.75), lobster roll ($17) and fried calamari ($9.50) among others.
Jeff’s favorites
We’re still talking about the Shake Shack black and white shake ($6.50) and burger ($5.75 for a single) four days later. And the Italian special hero ($9.75, pepper ham, salami and mozzarella) from Mama’s of Corona, well, let’s just say listen to Mama and have one. The pulled pork sandwich ($9) and Kansas City spare ribs ($10) at Blue Smoke smelled divine, although we ran out of room to try. The same goes for El Verano Taqueria’s Mexican menu. “It’s much better than a normal ballpark, that’s for sure,” said Wayne’s Steve Schiffman. “It’s not junk food.”
At Yankee Stadium, the Brother Jimmy’s Carolina pulled pork sandwich ($10) was better than most ballpark fare, especially when teamed with garlic fries ($6 for small, $9 for large) from Garlic Fries, which were not overwhelmingly potent (although we didn’t ask those around us). We also dove into Brother Jimmy’s frickles. Yes, frickles ($6). The fried pickles were the perfect complement. Carl’s Steaks Cheesesteaks also earned rave reviews for its cheesesteak, which Saddle Brook’s Frank Gutierrez paired with Garlic Fries. “It’s a marriage made in heaven,” he said.
There was no sympathy in his voice, only pity.
THE RECORD
Fans line up for the latest food du jour at their new parks.

Here's a thought. Everyone hates Sweet Caroline Playing at Citi cause it's a rip off of what the Redsox do.
But here is a thought. How about Come On Eileen.
It's a fun song in the same vain but at least it's different.
That is just plain silly! Had you researched the origin of the song, your research would have clearly validated that said song was authored by a Brooklyn, Nu Yawk native, Neil Diamond:
http://www.buzzle.com/articles/neil-diamond-biography.html
"Neil Diamond grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Part of the alumni of Erasmus Hall High School and Abraham Lincoln High School, he sang in the school choir with none other than Barbra Streisand. The guitar gifted to him on his 16th birthday was a turning point in his life and he drew his inspiration from Pete Seeger. This Golden Voice Musician is also a recipient of the Fencing Scholarship from the University of New York and a student of medicine!"
Further, using your logic, did you know that the Red Sawx "ripped it off" from The New York Rangers?:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweet_Caroline
"The song began being used as a victory song for the New York Rangers during the 2005-2006 season when head coach Tom Renney would play it in the locker room following victories. Shortly thereafter, the song began being played at Madison Square Garden by the PA System at the end of games that the Rangers were winning."
Good times never felt so good, so good, so good!
Seems that these Mets fans enjoyed the song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJihPJ_34DE
So the Red Sawx "rip off" a song authored by a Nu Yawker, and first played at professional sports game in Manhattan?
Lighten up dude - try singing "Sweet Caroline" - it always puts a smile on my face when I do!

While I certainly support any sentiment that calls the Red Sox thieves, I'm almost positive that 1997 (when Sweet Caroline started at Fenway) is actually earlier than 2005 (when it started at MSG).

I'm upset that the workers at Big Apple Brews mispronounce one of my favorite beers.
It is WHO-garden, not HOE-garden for Hoegaarden! Ugh.
I believe if you are selling it, you should at least know how to pronounce it correctly.

Neil Dimaons place of birth is irrelevant.
And one of the 1st acts John Henry did as head of the Red Sox after buying the team was dictate the playing of the song at Fenway. That predates anything the Rangers did.
Amy Tobey knows the answer to the ''Sweet Caroline" question.
Tobey began working for the Red Sox through her job at BCN Productions, a film and video communications company, having interned for the Boston Bruins.
Her assignment was to decide what music would be played at the park from 1998 to 2004.
She had noticed ''Sweet Caroline" was used at other sporting events, and she decided to send the sweetness over the Fenway speakers.
The song was picked up by fans, and the more it caught on, the more superstitious Tobey became about playing it.
Tobey would play the song somewhere between the seventh and ninth innings if the team was ahead, depending on whether she felt the team was going to win.
She didn't go by any specific margin of runs, but rather who the opponent was, and her gut instincts.
''I actually considered it like a good luck charm," Tobey says. ''Even if they were just one run [ahead], I might still do it. It was just a feel."
In 2002, when new management took over at the park, they requested that Tobey play the song during the eighth inning of every game.
''They liked it and they just loved the crowd reaction with it and stuff," she says.

Being in NYC, we lose sight of what other parts of the country pay for sporting events. Some other MLB cities are unreal when it comes to prices. As some Mets fans have already noted, Pittsburgh is the land of bargains !
In my frantic search yesterday for Miley Cyrus tickets via AMEX, I reached out for my absolute last resort..my brother, who tells me he is in Pittsburgh and is going to tonite's game vs Detroit, and the tickets are practically nothing. I checked on stubhub and you can sit next to the dugout section 8 row B for $24.
(he did score 4 Miley tickets for me, so I owe him Mets tickets)
I find it ironic that the Pirates are playing Detroit tonite in Pitt at the same time the Penguins are in Detroit trying to be the first NHL road team since 1971 to win a game 7 final on the road.
Anyway, as for the cost of Mets tickets.....I would like to know how high Red Sox at Philly sell for this weekend. It would seem like a good comparison to Mets vs Yanks.

It might work for some presale opportunities but not all. Gold and Platnium are given special treatment w/ presales and preferred seating opportunities. They ask for your presale # which is the 800# on the back of your card.
There is no 800# on the back of my card:shrug:

Any suggestions on where to sit for a concert at citi field? I wouldn't want to be stuck behind the netting at home plate. Also you would think the center seats would be more expensive but they side seats are more expensive ( i guess because they are closer?)
