EB's Blog 2/3: Thoughts on a potential Bedard trade

As should be apparent, given my chosen user title and profile picture, I'm a huge fan of Orioles LHP Erik Bedard. So, given all the talk surrounding a potential Bedard-to-Mariners trade, I felt I had to weigh in on it.
When Bedard was listed as a potential trade chip for the Orioles, I was skeptical that they'd actually trade him. Then the first rumors came in, including Bedard going to the Dodgers for Matt Kemp, Clayton Kershaw, and a third player. Similar rumors came in from the Reds and Mariners, but I didn't like any of them as much as I did the Dodgers offer. The Reds dropped out when they found that the Orioles wanted Jay Bruce. The Dodgers dropped out when they signed Kuroda. That left the Mariners, and nobody else could match any offer they would make. That's still the way it sounds, with the O's and M's getting closer to making a deal each day, as it appears. So my favorite player is all but gone from my hometown team.
How will I feel when Bedard is traded? Will I be happy, because the Orioles just took about four steps towards contending, and there will be a lot of people happy about that? Or will I be sad because I won't be able to watch my all-time favorite player? Will I stop being an Orioles fan? Will I stop being an Erik Bedard fan? I don't know. I probably won't until the deal actually happens. If it doesn't happen, how will I feel then? Happy, because I can watch Bedard pitch for a while longer, or sad, because he won't have anybody good around him? I don't know that either.
