Please discuss the 2009 Kansas City Royals season here. :)
Just curious to know where the away teams stay when they come to play KC. My son and I will be going in April when the Red Sox come to town. Thanks for the info!
I love the Royals but they're going to come close to losing 100 games again this year. A few decent pitchers, and one great one with Greinke, are the only reason they might avoid it. I'm predicting 67-95.
Here's a new thread for the latest wheeling and dealing... should first mention that Miguel Olivo, Coco Crisp and pitcher Yasuhiko Yabuta will not be back for 2010. This afternoon, the Royals traded Mark Teahen and cash to the White Sox in exchange for second baseman Chris Getz and third baseman...
Just ordered my ten pack of tickets for the upcoming season. :hp
Bill Henderson has in his MLB Style Guide the Royals wearing a 1969 home throwback jersey for a game in 1993. I think it might be for the 5/22 game that the Mariners wore their 77 throwback jerseys. Doesn't make much sense for a road team to wear a throwback and the home team not to. Can anyone...
Zack took home 25 out of 28 first place votes to become the first Royal since David Cone in 1994 to win the Cy Young award!
It was with very little fanfare that the signing of Jason Kendall by the Royals was announced the second week of December, but this may prove to be one of the teams's most successful offseason moves. The Royals "LED", if that's the proper term, the majors in Wild Pitches and Passed Balls last...
I enjoy this game...... maybe you will to. Correctly name the Kansas City Royal and you win the right to post the next image of a Royal to be identified. I will start with a fairly easy one. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa111/ryors/rdl.jpg
You know at age 62 and with GMDM in charge I will never live to see the Royals in contention again.
Went to the game last night and watched Greinke dominate the White Sox. Took some photos of the remodeled stadium with my Blackberry.
There was a blooper involving the Royals in the field (Ken Harvey, I believe) where there was a man on third and a slow roller (maybe a bunt) up the first base line. Harvey charged it and fired home, but the pitcher was bailing out right in that same area and Harvey's throw hit him right in the...
I'm making my first trip out to KC and Kauffman Stadium in about a month, heading out to a day game and I have some questions. There are some pretty darn good seats left on the Royals website, however since it's a day game, I would prefer to sit in some shady seats. I see the sun goes down...
he and the glass family still believe they are headed in the right direction...:crazy wonderful...another 5 more years of underachieving from this organization from top to bottom... :ughh tcb~ ...
Buddy Blattner, a former major leaguer and longtime sportscaster who paired with Don Wells on the Angels' KMPC radio broadcasts from 1962 to 1968, has died. He was 89. Blattner, a St. Louis native who spent most of his life in the Midwest, died Friday of complications from lung cancer at his...
Is Paul "Yankee Killer" Splittorff your favorite starting pitcher in the entire history of the Kansas City Royals? If not, why not?
It is becoming apparent that Crow will not be signed by tonight's signing deadline. I guess the good news is that the deadline doesn't apply to Crow as a drafted player with no college eligibility left. Maybe, I am being harsh on the guy, but what is he thinking?? He didn't sign last year when...
By far the single best part of the Royals season for me, screw Zack Greinke! Now I can begin to take my front office seriously again!
GMDM is driving me crazy. The guy truly believes if he says something it must be true. He thinks all Yuniesky (OBP .273) needs is a change of scenery and he will become a stud. I assume this is the same change of scenery that has converted Mike Jacobs (OBP .305), Miguel Olivo (OBP .275), and Joe...
Our brilliant GM just trades a decent pitching prospect for Yuniesky Betancourt and some cash. Mariners fans can hardly control their glee at unloading this guy while our GM and manager think they have pulled off a coup. Just what we need was another no-OBP guy, with no power, who can't run, and...
By Dick Kaegel / MLB.com 07/06/09 2:32 PM ET DETROIT -- Infielder-outfielder Ryan Freel was obtained by the Royals from the Chicago Cubs on Monday in exchange for a player to be named later and cash considerations. The Royals said Freel, 33, is expected to join the team in time for Tuesday...
Is there a bigger jinx in the sports world than being on the cover of Sports Illustrated?? Next up is Zack Greinke.
With Kyle Farnsworth's demonstrated ability to turn out the lights some have decided to nickname him Captain Goodnight. Hillman's use of Farnsworth remains mystifying. I grant you Soria had only four days rest prior to yesterday's game so Hillman may have been reluctant to use him when the game...
Has anyone heard anything yet about the Negro Leagues' tribute game against the White Sox? Any word yet on autographs before the game, etc.? According to the Royals' website they are giving away a replica jersey instead of a hat this year.
The Royals are off to a nice start do to fairly good starting pitching and lights out relief pitching in games Nomo doesn't appear in. There are some storms clouds out there, though. The offense had been pitiful due to the usual suspects: lack of plate discipline, a paucity of power hitting, and...
I'm going to spend a pretty good part of the summer at Blue Rocks games, and I was wondering if any Royals fans could help me get familiar with the team. Who are the players to keep an eye on? Who should I try to snag autos from? And thanks for coming back to Wilmington. The year the Blue...
