What are you reading? What is "worth it?"
Can we get a sticky of players and books about them... I have seen several posts about What book is the best on.... I think if we can just post the subject, book and author and then have someone clean it up once in a while so we have a running list of books that this forum members recommend. ...
In the past, I have subscribed to both Sports Illustrated and ESPN: The Magazine. In addition, I have thumbed through The Sporting News at the dentist's office. However, what does everyone think is the absolute best magazine for baseball coverage? I would love to here some baseball-specific...
Due to an illness, I've had to give up my lunchtime workouts and have been spending my lunch hour sitting at my desk reading. I need something new - can anyone recommend some good baseball strategy books or just a good baseball book in general to get my mind off all this snow and crappy weather?? ...

Crappy film but in Righteous Kill Ted Williams, the infield fly rule & the NY Mets get a mention. Any other non-sports specific flicks which mention baseball?
I was gonna post this the day of, but I forgot, so better late than never. Last Tuesday, April 7, was the 20th anniversary of the release of Major League. I watched it recently, and while some parts of the movie are dated(like the Indians being perennial losers), I think it's still a pretty good...
Yeah, I'm just a few years late in watching this movie, but I just couldn't make it all the way through it. Made me feel like I needed to go take a shower. Someone tell me, was there ever *anything* redeeming about TY Cobb as portrayed by Tommy Lee Jones in this movie?
Good book on the history of Spring Training. I found it very knowledgeable, and as a regular visitor to Mesa, AZ in spring training to watch the Cubs, I found many of it very personable, and realistic. Good book indeed.
Is this book on the inside life of an MLB manager any good? I'm thinking of purchasing it
I don't necessarily agree, but it's an interesting list. ...
This may have been covered here before, but since I am relatively new to the website here goes. Can you name your favorite baseball movies of all time? Mine appear below. 1) The Natural- something about this movie makes it move me everytime I watch it. The Roy Hobbs/Pop Fisher interaction is...
With spring fever creeping up on us, I thought I’d put this new book out there in case anyone needed a fresh baseball book to start the season off right. It’s called Polishing the Diamond and is my first book. I spent years looking through the issues facing the game and came up with solutions that...
There are several bios of Wagner out there. Which one should I invest my money in?

I just wanted to see how big your home baseball library is. My Personal Library: Someone once suggested that I have an extensive library of baseball books. That is hardly the case. But I wish I had! My "baseball library" consists of only 6 book shelves. Plus a few vanilla files, and a 3...
Was looking at some pictures in a book I have and saw some ads from the early 1900s with Smoky Joe, Rube Waddell and Nap Lajoie. It got me very interested and I am wondering what other ads are there from early baseball (1876-1920)? If any of you have pictures, please share them, I really wanna...
I have a question. I recently picked up the first edition of the "The Baseball Encyclopedia" dated 1969. It came in a cardboard slip case and on the case there is a picture of a ballpark on it. Does anyone have any idea what park this is????????????? Thanks, Ed

Not that this is all that accurate, just that that I have fun watching it for the sake of the storyline and delivery. Doc Ellis - No Hitter
Upcoming bios to look out for: Tris Speaker by Opie Otterstad Does anyone wish to give us a detailed book review of recent baseball books? I'd appreciate good-quality reviews/reports on the following baseball books. Pete Alexander by John C. Skipper
After much searching, I finally managed to get my hands on the 1962 autobiography , "My War With Baseball", which he wrote with the help of author Bill Surface. Check out my review of this gem. If you can get your hands on it, I suggest that you do so. Hornsby gives perspective on early 20th...
I'm interested in photo books focusing on on baseball imagery. I'm particularly interested in the very early years through the 1930s. I'd also love some books on the 40s-70s too, but I'm most interested in the early years. I've seen many books that have nice photos as a part of a document...
I've spent my entire life reading baseball books, but for some reason I'd never read Robert Creamer's classic "Babe" until now. It's a really good biography, well-written and well-researched. One of the best baseball bios I've read. I love a good baseball biography. What's your favorite?
Can anyone tell me anything about this book, the full title of which is The First Fall Classic: The Red Sox, the Giants and the Cast of Players, Pugs and Politicos Who Re-Invented the World Series in 1912?

I was wondering if collecting the OLD Stats major league handbooks would be any good? Because i have the stats/bill james handbooks for 1999-2010 just to update my stats all-time handbook and all-time baseball sourcebook. So does the stats all-time handbook/sourcebook basically contain what are in...
