    "'"all-time 'franchise 'triple crown''" season".

Players who achieved "all-time franchise 'triple crown'" season.

I am looking for seasons in which a player set (at the time) franchise records in BA, HR and RBI in the same season. Also for pitchers, Wins, Ks and ERA.

Ubaldo Jimenez has a chance to do it this year though there is a statistical oddity surrounding the Rockies ERA record-holder. Freeman is often listed for his strike shortened season of '94 at 2.80 but even in the shoretened season pitched fewer than 1 IP per team game played.

Anyway, if anyone can clarify Freeman's franchise "record", or come up with individuals who set franchise records in all 3 categories in the same year, please respond.

Are we going back into the dark ages of the 19th century, or are we restricting this to 1900+?

I think the 1921 Babe Ruth set all those crowns for the Yanks. These records were later passed by others.

true 1921 was a triple crown becasue he eclipsed all his 1920 records -- i picked 1920 because i suppose you could use both years-- but the final answer would be 1921

Well, this is why I asked if 19th c. counts- still no reply. I thought of Hornsby 1922 immediately, along with Ruth 20 and 21. But, before replying I decided to look it up and realized that Tip O'Neill batted .435 in 1887. O'Neill also led the league in homers and RBI that season, so it's at least possible that he held the Cardinals franchise record beginning in 1887. I didn't take the time to see if his HR and RBI totals that year were highest in club history to date. If we use 1900/1901 as the starting point, Hornsby 1922 was the triple crown holder- .401/42/152.

They would both be correct based on what I'm looking for.

Let's make 2 lists, one considering 19th century players and one only considering 20th century guys.

Did any expansion teams have someone lead in all three in the first year, or set franchise high's in early years?

By the way, I remember reading back in 1984 that it had become tradition that when an NL team moved, the team records moved with them, but when an AL team moved, they started a new team record book. I know this was printed in baseball digest. We better not do that though, but I wondered if anyone knew anything about that?
