Wow, I just realized that at the price I bid for Blue I can sign him for five years and pick up that decent 1980 season and that outstanding 1981 season. That worked out better than I hoped!![]()

You see, you spend a good deal of your life gripping a baseball and in the end it turns out that it was the other way around all the time. J. Bouton
Gamblers sign Steve Renko 7M

So I guess I've signed Bonham at 7.75 and Carty at 5.75.

The Corsairs come up short in their bid to improve the 5th starter slot. Heading to the leftover round at 39/92.25. Hate to leave that money on the table, but at least there is room to make a trade if the opportunity comes along.
I'm OK with his 77 season because the Jaxx now have 3 pitchers with 1100+ batters faced, which will allow me to use a four man rotation. This will give Ryan and Palmer more starts, although Blue could suffer in my home park. But with the prices being paid for pitchers, I figured those two seasons were worth it.

The Corsairs sign Bart Johnson
The Knights sign Mike Phillips
This is what I have for current rosters and remainign free agents. If my files are correct the Hard Cider and Angels each have to cut down by 4 players and the Skipjacks and Lumberjaxx by one each. The Badgers (39), Gold Sox (33) Blues (37), Bunnies (32) and Beavers (38) are all free to sign the players they need to fill their roster. The Corsairs, Gamblers, Knights, Legends, Iron, Spikes and Thunder are all at 40. Of course my files are probably NOT correct, soplease review your roster for missing (or extra) players and get me your corrections ASAP.
Beavers sign Julio Gonzalez and Sam Ewing

The Iron actually have 41 as we signed Steve Busby. He did not play in 77 though and will need a placeholder. And we will release Terry Humphrey to get down to 40.
I missed the Koosman signing. Thought I had him. Some time I'll figure out how to draft FAs. Very disappointing.

Beavers Sign Juan Bernhardt

Need an outfielder?
I have lots of them availible cheap, and all are guaranteed more valuable than any of the unsigned FAs. See the HC minor league section in the roster thread for details and sitemail me an offer.

There are 10 kinds of people. Those who get binary and those who don't.
Preston Hanna, Dick Allen, and Ken Macha then. All one-year deals.
The Skipjacks sign Andy Messersmith to a 1 yr, $1.25 mil deal.
The Skipjacks do not have Torre or Pole... though we requested Torre retire to accept our managerial position. We are at 39 players, $99.50 mil.
