Former Twins pitcher Danny McDevitt passes away

Danny McDevitt rose from high-school baseball brilliance in Hallstead, Pa., to pitch a 2-0 shutout in the Brooklyn Dodgers' final game in Ebbets Field and two years later contribute 10 wins to the Los Angeles Dodgers' reaching and winning the 1959 World Series.

Two days after his 78th birthday, McDevitt died Saturday in a Covington, Ga., hospital not far his home in Social Circle, GA., where until recent years he worked in real estate.

How sad, I got his autograph from a neighbor. He told stories about Koufax and the old Brooklyn ball club to him, and they were passed to me.
