I realize I'm a couple months late on this, but I've got a picture of Minoso (right) with the Cubans in 1946.

A lot of people say this honor validates my career, but I didn't work hard for validation. I didn't play the game right because I saw a reward at the end of the tunnel. I played it right because that's what you're supposed to do, play it right and with respect. If this validates anything, it's that learning how to bunt and hit and run and turning two is more important than knowing where to find the little red light at the dug out camera. - Ryne Sandberg

This is another shot out of Buck Leonard's personal collection. Any photos you see in that handwriting are Buck's. Alot of the photos out there are from his personal shots.

I think they came from the Bohemia Archive and appeared in a publication. It does have some writing on the back..
Anyone who could provide any amplifying info would be much appreciated.

Maybe he played for a team sponsered by Goodyear. Maybe the team was somewhere in Akron.

Today, I received this email. Can anyone assist this person?

    Mr. Burgess

I was just browsing through your historical Negro League photograph archive on Baseball-Fever.com. Needless to say you posted quite an impressive collection.

Since you apparently have access to such a large collection of pics I thought you'd might be the man that could help me with my dilemma. My grandfather was a pitcher for the 41-42 New York Cubans. His name was Denio Canton. For years I have tried to dig up as much as I could from his years there. Unfortunately forme I have never seen a pic of him while with the Cubans. Even a Google search has come up short (and can't compare to what you posted). So.... I was wondering if by chance you had or knew where to find a NY Cubans 1941 and/or 1942 team picture? If you could help me with this years long dilema of mine I would be very grateful.

P.S. I know he ended up moving on to the New Orleans Pelicans (not sure if it was immediate) and ended up giving up baseball around 45. For some strange reason he doesn't show up in the team rosters for the Pelicans or Cubans as far as I could see on Baseball-Reference.com. James Riley listed my grandfather in his encyclopedia. He even went to a NLB reunion back in the early 90s. He passed away in 2005.

Venezuelan league, I think... not the Mexican league. Maracaibo is in Venezuela... and so was that ball club. http://www.baseball-reference.com/bu...ilas_del_Zulia http://iml.jou.ufl.edu/projects/fall...o/thepast2.htm
