From a die-hard Tiger fan, thanks for this thread! A couple interesting things of note:

      * The 1907 Tigers were infamous for their discord, and it shows in this shot. Everyone looks totally ticked off except "Smiling Bill" Donovan and the irrepressible Germany Shaefer. And, as one Cobb biographer pointed out, his body language in this picture speaks volumes. He's closed himself off from his teammates, with his arms tucked at his sides, as if he doesn't want to touch anyone. Also, where is Matty McIntyre?

Thank you, Gary, for your kind support! Your contribution has been anything but small.

You have undertaken to be Fever's player identification specialist. We would not know over 100 team photo player identifications without your hard, honest work!
BSmile finds them and restores them, you identify the players, and I transcribe them. We're an A+ elite team!

Notice the small US flag on the shoulders. 1917 was the only year teams displayed this, so whenever you see it, you know you're seeing a 1917 team, or a 1918 spring training.
