Looks like Tulo is off to his typical slow start... At least CarGo hasn't totally flopped yet.

Rockies are off to a 3-1 start. Helton had a big three-run home run yesterday, which is always good to see, and Tulo has homered in the last two games. I just hope the pitching holds together. Chacin looked really good though.

Agree with you... Glad Tulo's bat is heating up. With Ubaldo on the shelf for a bit, Esmil Rogers will have a chance to prove he belongs with the club - he threw a good game the other day.

Boys are lookin' pretty good out of the gate in 2011. Timely hitting and decent pitching. I say timely hitting, not perfect timely hitting . . . if they had been perfect they would be 9-0 now instead of 7-2. They are 0-2 in extra inning games this year and could've (should've) won both those . . . just didn't have a hit or two when they required them.
    Some's basturds, some's ain't, thats the score.

Agreed, so far, so good. Would like to see more production from Dexter Fowler. Other than that, the Rox are hanging tough!

Rox have the best record in baseball right now. Funny how they've had great seasons when Aaron Cook is NOT pitching...

It just shows the quality of the Rockies' scouting and farm system that they can get so many young pitchers to step in. Chacin and Rogers have been really good, although Rogers will have his hands full tonight when he goes against Lincecum.

8 ER? Yep, rough game... He'll have his share of brilliant starts as well. Chacin was the same way last season.

Rockies aren't hitting very well this trip. They were no-hit through 8 innings on Friday, didn't get a hit on Sunday until the 6th, and got outhit last night by Fukudome alone (although they managed to win that game). They need to get the bats going...

After three straight walk-off losses, I don't know what is the biggest frustration, the bullpen that has surrendered those walk-off wins or the offense, which hasn't done much to pad a lead...

Yep, Tulo needs to get hot again. CarGo has largely been a disappointment. And Ian Stewart was called up after Wigginton got hurt... Hopefully he can bat his weight this time around.

Stewart bat his weight? I'm just hoping he can get above his age...

Haha, sad but true... I like Stewart so it sucks to see him do so poorly.

The 'pen blew another one in the 9th today vs San Diego. Hawpe took Street yard to win the game... Is it just me, or is it a matter of time before the Rox look outside the organization for a closer?

Yeah, I've never been sold on Street as a closer since he isn't that over-powering. I had taken a trip to the Bay Area, and I was actually sitting at the Oakland Coliseum watching the White Sox and A's on Saturday. I cringed every time I looked at the out-of-town scoreboard and saw the Rox' 7-1 lead turn to 7-5, then 7-7, then 7-9...

The Rockies are about to cruise into a win against the Phillies off the 3 HR performance by Jason Giambi.

This was Giambi's first 3 HR game as I found out (much to my surprise). And he knocked in all 7 of the teams runs. This was his 4th time in his career where he has had 7 RBI (a career high) in a single game!

That was a great game by Giambi - and he's actually really a nice guy. I sat with him on the practice fields in Tucson last year and chatted with him. When I asked what he'd be doing if not a baller, he said, "I'd be supersizing your fries or driving a tow truck..."

As far as Street goes, I feel it's just a matter of time before he breaks something - I just picture him as chronically fragile and not overpowering at all...

"Jorge De La Rosa's season appears to be over after the Colorado Rockies left-hander tore a ligament in his pitching elbow. De La Rosa left Tuesday's game against Arizona in the third inning with soreness in his left elbow and went to the hospital for an MRI. About an hour after the Rockies' 12-4 win in the opener of a day-night doubleheader, the Rockies tweeted, "Jorge De La Rosa suffered a complete tear of his ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow. The next step is being discussed." That likely means Tommy John surgery that would sideline the hard-throwing lefty for at least a year."

Thanks for posting, Blue. Tough injury for the team - Jorge's arm will be tough to replace.

Funny enough, ESPN had the Rox at #9 in the Power Rankings last week. Hard to believe considering the hitting has been psychotic, and the pitching nearly as bad. Heck, Jiminez is still WINLESS and it's June. What's going on here?

Ubaldo is winless no more. Nice shutout of the Dodgers... Heck, any shutout of the Dodgers is nice.

Here here Daniel! Zito75's analogy of the Rox hitting and pitching is accurate though. I wouldn't rank them any higher than "middle of the pack" at this stage of the season.
