Thread: Official 2011 Mets Uniform Log

MLB Network had the racing stripes jersey as #25 on the 40 most memorable jerseys list. The list contained both good and bad unis. This one got a good review.
A fish stinks from the head down. Sell the Mets.

As it should. For the ugly 80's double knit pullover era, it was outstanding. Historically it may appear gaudy, but the stripes give it character.

Mitchell & Ness has added to their Mets batting practice throwbacks with the 1987 BP jersey. I just ordered one from their Fathers Day Sale. The best part about these jerseys are the price. Much cheaper than their throwback game jerseys. Cant wait to get it in the mail.

Anyone else notice that All-Stars (carlos Beltran) have the ASG patch on their caps BEFORE the game now? Actually a pretty cool idea. Signifies that the player is so honored, but lets be honest, they do it so fans will buy the official ASG caps.

I find that whenever the Mets go on a winning streak, they keep wearing their same unis. They'll probably wear they road grays tonight.

Wow, I love the blue "Los Mets" jerseys. Please, Fred, Sandy, ditch the ugly black jerseys and replace them with blue please.

    How so?

I love the blue jerseys. Much more pleasing to the eyes than those dull black jerseys. I'd love it if the team replaced the black jerseys with blue next season.

    lets hope they win
for if they lose the game, we probably won't see that jersey again

theAmazingMet I hope you enjoy your 1987 Mets batting practice throwback jersey.Would you happen to know if Mitchell and
Ness carries the 1985 and 1986 Mets batting practice throwback jersey? That batting practice throwback jersey is my
favorite of all time as far as batting practice throwback jerseys go.Also, would you happen to know if Mitchell and Ness carries
the 1969 Mets jacket, the one that you always see Gil Hodges wear? I really appreciate it.Thanks.

Yes, they made both the 1986 BP Jersey (I got an original authentic myself on ebay), and the 69 jacket. If you cant find it on mitchell & Ness, check the MLB website, they have em.

Official standard blue unis have arrived, right now, live, although they're the spring training black sides version, and unfortunately, with black caps:

Geez, you can hardly tell who the home team is and who the visitors are. Mets wear bright blue jerseys and the black hats with the Marlins in black jerseys.

Of course, I guess if I had my druthers, a visit to Citi Field would be a road game.
    Put it in the books.

Huh? Are the Mets playing an exhibition DH against the Marlins tonight? Whose idea was it to wear those uniforms? Have they played in them before? They are truly bush league looking. Lol, my 11-year-old daughter said it looks like the Mets are wearing their batting practice uniforms.

out of the 1952 brooklyn dodgers uniforms,
the first year in which they put uniform numbers on the FRONT of the jersey

as far as for the mets, I like the one on the right A LOT BETTER
but knowing the mets since they lost with the stripe one (dodgers older version)
and won with the dodgers newer version
I HATE TO SAY IT BUT THE METS WILL MOST LIKELY GO WITH Blue and BLACK

it is just me, but I HATE any mets uniform with black on it
I am all for BLUE AND ORANGE

    from http://www.amazinavenue.com/2011/8/6...s-blue-jerseys
    not black and blue

I have a name for that color.....Bush League Blue. The hats only make it worse. IMO, they're not much better than some of the hideous MLB uniforms of the '70's (Cleveland, Atlanta, San Diego etc). But I just assumed everyone then was hung over from the '60's. What's the excuse this time? This bipolar, multi color uniform baloney does nothing but further cheapen the Mets' 50 year old brand. Does this franchise even have an identity anymore?

They wore the BP Uniforms during Game 2. Odd...

    ^Bruising to look at.

The Mets went from their classic pinstripes in game 1 to tacky blue & black warmups in game 2. I'm glad it wasn't a triple header or they might have taken the field in their pajamas.

Hahahaha I had the same thought. I was even momentarily excited when I flicked on and saw the HR in the 2nd game thinking it was Duda until I saw the score was now 1-1.

Even the most die hard Mets fan should respect the fact the the Yankees don't partake in all of this alternate uniform nonsense.

Maybe this uniform is the one where Mets fans say "enough". Why can't they just have one home uniform and one road uniform? If fans would stop buying this crap. maybe the Mets would put an end to this. What's next, wearing shorts like the Chisox did years ago?
