    Barton needs to go...

I must be missing something... what do they see in this guy...he's horrible year after year...no power at all, yet, he's always in the line-up ....

I'm looking forward to Rosales coming back..at least he brings some enthusiasm.....this offense is hard to watch...

Funny enough, I pulled Barton's bio yesterday - and you're right. Stats decline in practically all categories year over year. Too bad he couldn't live up to half his hype. I'll call him a "Bust" with a capital "B!"

He's very, very replaceable. This offense is so awful and stale, it's really a shame with the pitching staff. They need to do something before it gets too late here.

Barton had one awesome month in Sept where he teased us into believing that he was a .300 hitter. After that, he hasn't shown us squat! Sure, he knows how to draw a walk, but so did Jack Kust. What else can he do at the plate? I use to be able to overlook his offense because of his defense, but this year even his defense is leaky.

Billy needs to acknowledge this and move on. Replace him with Connor Jackson until Chris Carter is healthy.

What is up with Geren ? Put Sweeney in the outfield full time and sacrifice a little defense and put someone other then Barton at 1st...Send Barton to Sacramento...it's pathetic that he is in the line-up everyday..

He's a slob. 1B is a power position, and we have the shittiest offensive first basemen I can think of.

This is true... And we got rid of Dan Johnson about the same time Barton was brought up. That's a wash if you ask me.

I agree, but at least Johnson hit 15 homers in 2005 and 18 in 2007 for the A's...Barton will never reach those numbers...

everyone in the As lineup is replaceable. that happens if you run a team cheap.fortunately you guys have pitching.
I think walks are overrated unless you can run. If you get a walk and put the pitcher in a stretch, that helps, but the guy who walks and can’t run, most of the time he’s clogging up the bases for somebody who can run. – Dusty Baker.

Most certainly true. I look at our OF'ers on the roster and am baffled why we have them. Easily the worst starting 3 on any team out there.

I guess because they are cheap. Willingham is OK though.

If Willingham and DeJesus were hitting what their career averages are, they would be really good. Also, Crisp is a premium defensive CF. As long as we don't have anyone to replace Barton, we might as well see if he can turn it around. He definitely has good potential.

He's been doing really well since being moved down to 6 in the order, so let's see how that turns out for now I guess. Mark Ellis has become the awful one at the plate to me. Once Rosales is back, let him play 2nd.

LOL. Our entire offense is laughable... I'm sorry but I look at the depth chart and laugh. Maybe Jemile Weeks can do something?

Barton was hitting well when he was moved now. They moved him back up, and he's right back to his usual awful batting. Wow.

Barton's 64-game homer-less streak as a first baseman is the longest such skid since Sean Casey went 63 games in 2007 for Detroit. The Oakland record for such a power outage is 75, by Mike Hegan from July 6, 1971 to Aug. 16, 1973.

it's time for him to go to Sacramento ...

Barton sent down to Sacramento! Great news!

Mark Ellis back off the 15 day DL.

ABOUT TIME. That move was made about 2 months too late. Oh well - time to cut bait & move on.

Barton had a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Supposedly injured it back in April. Kind of wondering how it could go so long without diagnosis. I hope Barton can get healthy and get some of his offensive numbers back, though his place won't likely be in Oakland with the way Allen has played so far.

I hope Barton's days as our starting 1B are FAR over...
