    New logo speculation

With the new park and name, the Marlins will probably update their logo.

What do you think about a possible logo change? Don't be afraid to design one yourself.
The playoffs should expand eventually, but only if MLB itself expands.

I can't wait - their current look has gotten BORING

Happy 20th season to the Marlins too - even though that's not until next year

I hope they keep the fish, just have him next to an M instead of an F.

In my opinion I hope the Marlins will keep the older uniforms when they update their uniforms. They could use it for special events and call it the "classic look". I also hope that their new look won't look ridiculous compared to the older look. It should have some of the older uniforms looks and the rest of it updated.

I was watching the Rockies-Marlins game last night. The Rox were wearing their black alternate jerseys and the Marlins their road grays with black letters. And I got to thinking that there was just too much black going on. The Rockies are the only team with purple as a color, and yet, you'd need to be standing next to one of the players to detect any purple in the uniform (the thin pinstripes on the pants and part of the lettering on the caps). The Marlins are the only team with the distinctive teal color, but the teal couldn't really be seen from far away since it was only used as an outline around the black. Why not go back to the teal caps they wore in 1997 and teal lettering across the chest? Half the teams in MLB wear black caps now, for crying out loud. Do we really want all the uniforms to look the same?

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see what the logo and uniforms for next year look like.

I hope they will wear the teal uniforms as a throw-back in the future. I really liked them when I attended the 4th-ever Marlins game on 4/9/93 My favorite cap from back then was the road cap (teal w/ black bill). I've worn mine to every Marlins game I've attended since then, with the inaugaural season pin stuck in it (only time I ever wear the cap).

Paul Lukacs from Uniwatch has a possible version which might not be the actual logo.

I hope they keep the pinstripes on their home jerseys..the black alternates are cool too. I also agree I would like to see them bring back the old '93 uniforms on occassion as throwbacks. I am looking forward to visiting the new ballpark, hope to make it over there next season.

    Marlins future cap?

    I think it's a Photoshop job.

    Definitely photoshopped.

Gads that would be awful--Navy blue, Orange, Yellow, Royal blue, silver/grey and White.

Make the cap the same blue as the logo and it would work. 4 colors + white and grey is too many.

Maybe they should make it an orange cap.

I hope they do something completely radical with the uniforms--something loud, unusual, innovative and something that screams MIAMI.

Absolutely hideous. If it's for real, I don't think it will last very long. Reminds me of the old Colorado Rockies hockey jersey...

You know, if the Marlins wore that white bevelled letter M on a blue cap, that wouldn't be bad. But it would look boring and generic:

Actually, I think the seat logo looks pretty good. It has a clean, art deco feel that you see a lot down here, and will fit in well with the Miami style. I have a sneaky suspicion that the tutti-fruitti color scheme that's been floating around isn't for real, or that it was under consideration and intentionally leaked by people in the organization who want to kill it. It reminds me of the logo that was used during one of the many times that Sun Life Stadium was between name changes...

I'm a baseball traditionalist. I really like the Marlins' pinstripe uniforms and think the black and sliver "Marlins" script is very striking. But, I've never been a big fan of the "fish" logo. In my opinion it's too vertical, and very complicated. I've always felt that a stylized letter "F", or just the Marlin itself, would look better on the cap. The seat logo seems to be more horizontal and streamlined. It could look pretty classy in teal, silver, black and white. We'll find out soon. As they say, "Stay tuned, film at eleven..."

Blue387 - That's what I had always figured it would be.

Unfortunately, I just noticed that the logo being used on the Marlins website to promote the new ballpark has the same color scheme as the new cap/uniform logo that's been floating around. OMG! Say it ain't so, Joe!
