I've seen a couple rappers wearing Expos threads.
The merchandise was popular enough locally when they were around. Now it is fashionable to wear the gear.
Probably selling more merchandise outside the city than ever before.
I agree with a lot of people in this thread: Montreal needs another major sports franchise up there(I'm a NY'er).
-Yes, Selig needs to retire. He'll never allow MLB to go back to Montreal.
-Montreal NEEDS a new ballpark; downtown with lots of luxury/corporate seats to generate/attract revenue. They need to get people interested again. Stade Olmpique is just too far east on the island in a somewhat drab neighborhood.
-Has to be in the AL as the NL east is already jammed up. How great would it be for Montreal to attract more fans from Ontario, Boston, NY and even further south as Baltimore? The city would make money from hotels, restaurants, entertainment etc. and put Montreal back on the map as a major destination. I mean, Tampa? San Jose? those aren't really cities that stir up a good time - no offense to people who live there but Montreal has that "flair" of something special. Just a mere 20-30 years ago, Montreal was the city in all of Canada.
-They need a dedicated owner. F*** LORIA. He'll get what he deserves.
-The bad blood with the fans must be erased. I understand MLB and the owners did Montreal fans dirty, but to progress, fans must forgive/forget to move forward.
I hope, one day, before i die, a team will be back in Montreal, in a nice stadium downtown. I am truly sorry for the fans of baseball in Quebec. I would be heartbroken if my Mets moved away...
here's a great vid i found on Youtube that flooded lots of memories back for me as a teenager:
I hope that whomever is pushing to bring back baseball isn't just flirting around and is serious...either moving the Rays or the A's or some other miracle, i just hope...
