    New Unis for 2012?

Si.com and the Toronto Star reported today that the Jays are in the process of a uniform re-design for next season. The rumblings suggested something more "Canadian" with possibly more red in the uniform. Crap! Please get it right and go back to the 1989-1995 uniform or a similar cleaned-up version of these. No vests, no contrasting sleeves, no silly cartoon birds, no pinstripes....just be classy for a change. Listen to what the fans want! Take a look at the crowds in T.O. (sadly all 20,000 people per game). The majority of caps in plain view are the "retro" 1977-1992 blue & whites. They are the BLUE Jays. Not the Black and slate grey Jays....not the Red Jays....BLUE! Rant Over.

They seem gung-ho on some kind of Canada-motif seeing as they are now the only team in the country...

I agree. Especially the old caps. I didn't mind the 98 jerseys all that much but I hated the cap with the bird and the big maple leaf behind it.

I will never understand how a team called the Blue Jays could possibly think it's a good idea to put red in their uniforms. I really wish they'd go back to some version of the classic look.
Like Maple Syrup, Canada's evil oozes over the United States.

I agree completely - but remember there is a team called the White Sox that insists on wearing black socks, so logic never did have a place in baseball uniforms

    PS - I like jnakamura's first choice

They introduced the new unis today. I like them except I wanted the ball behind the bird like it used to be

Everyone: The official Blue Jay site has the information on the new uniforms-the first thing I thought when I saw them was "Back to the Future"
and later I noted that some of their promotional material was using exactly those words...

They are a welcome change over the black "Jays" concept uniforms which I never liked and remind me much of the earlier Blue Jays uniforms of
years past-I have a McGregor "Sand-Knit" mesh batting practice jersey from I believe 1989 that was my favorite Jays jersey to wear...

I liked the large red maple leaf that has been used as a shoulder patch in recent years and I feel that it could be used on the new alternate
blue jersey - I like the color contrast...and going with a traditional Blue Jays logo type was a good move...

The red "Canada Color" jerseys would have been interesting but there is already a team named after a bird called the Cardinals already and
I remember reading a comment that I agreed with about emphasizing their name "BLUE Jays" instead...the new uniforms are a good move to me...
