    CanAm League Playoffs

The Canadian American league began their playoffs today with a best of five opening round. The Quebec Capitales are the # 1 seed (winning the 1st and 2nd half championships for the league) and defeated the #4 seed Brockton Rox 10-1. The other series opener was cancelled due to bad weather and will feature the #2 seed New Jersey Jackals and # 3 seed Pittsfield Colonials (who have the WORST uniforms in baseball in the universe) with the first game rescheduled for tomorrow night.

If it was 1880 those uni's would be cool.
I imagine the traditionalists will love them.

The Quebec Capitales completed their sweep of the Brockton Rox last night and have moved on to the CanAm championship game. This game was much closer as Brockton took a 1-0 lead in the 1st but were then shut down for seven innings while Quebec added single runs in the 2nd, 4th and 6th. The Rox scored one more run in the bottom of the 9th but couldn't finish the comeback.

Meanwile the New Jersey Jackals are now one game away from the championship game. Pittsfield had a 2-1 lead after one inning but the Jackals proceeded to add seven more runs and won the game going away, 8-2. Leading 2-0 in the best of five series, New Jersey goes for the sweep of the Colonials tonight.

The New Jersey Jackals jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and finished off the Pittsfield Colonials 8-1 to sweep their first round series and advance to the CanAm championship series with two-time defending champion Quebec Capitales. No surprise to see the two best teams in the league meeting for the championship, both Quebec and New Jersey have been the class of the league all season.

First game is Tuesday (9/13) in New Jersey

The Quebec Capitales took the first game of the CanAm championship series from the New Jersey Jackals by a score of 3-0. Quebec's pitchers limited New Jersey to five hits total, striking out six and walking only two. New Jersey's pitching was nearly as good (four pitchers gave up only seven hits and struck out a total of thirteen and only three walks) but the Capitales did damage in the 4th, getting all three runs in that inning.

Game two is Wednesday (9/14) in New Jersey.

For the second game in a row, Quebec scored all the runs they would need in one inning as they plated four against New Jersey in the 3rd innng. The Jackals added solol runs in the bottom of the 6th, 7th and 8th but could not complete the comeback as the Capitales won 4-3 and now lead their best of five series two games to none.

Game three is tomorrow night in Quebec.

All the games have been won by the road team so far in the CanAm championship series as the Jackals belted three home runs against Quebec to win 5-1. New Jersey's starting pitcher, Jon Kibler, gave up only two hits while striking out five in six innings. According to the box score, the Capitales didn't score until the 7th, but Kibler was tagged for the one earned run?

Game four is tonight in Quebec.
