    Atlantic League Playoffs

The Atlantic League playoffs have begun. In the Liberty Division, the Long Island Ducks are facing the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (who won a 1 game playoff with Bridgeport to advance as the wild care winner), while the Freedom Division sees the Lancaster Barnstormers meeting the York Revolution. These are best of five series'.

In the Liberty Division, the Ducks took the first game at home 6-3 despite being out-hit by the Blue Crabs 13 to 9. So. Maryland came back to win the second game 8-6, again out-hitting Long Island 12 to 8 while seeing their pitching strike out 11. The series now shifts to Maryland for the next three games.

Over in the Freedom Division, York came back in game 1 from a 2-1 deficit to tie the game in the bottom of the 8th and win in the bottom of the 9th with a final score of 3-2. In game two, the Barnstormers took another early lead, but the Revolution would score four unanswered runs and win 4-1 to take a two games to none lead. This series now heads to Lancaster for the next three games.

The Long Island Ducks defeated the So.Maryland Blue Crabs tonight 4-2 and now have a 2 games to 1 lead in their series. Despite three errors behind them, the Ducks' pitching gave up on the two runs as they scattered seven hits and struck out eleven. Game four is tomorrow night.

Getting back home was just what the Lancaster Barnstormers needed after losing the first two games to their arch-rivals (and close neighbors), the York Revolution in York. Offensively the Barnstormers had twelve hits to bring in their five runs, including three solo home run shots. Lancaster's pitching limited York to just the one run and only two hits. This series now stands two games to one also, favoring York, with game four tomorrow night.

Leading 6-3 after two innings, the So.Maryland Blue Crabs could not stop the Long Island Ducks who banged out 13 hits and won 9-8 as the Blue Crabs could muster only one more run to the six runs the Ducks scored in the last four innings. The Ducks' starter laste only 2/3 of an inning but their bullpen performed excellently, recording nine strikeouts. The Ducks have won the Liberty Division 3 games to 1 and now await the winner of the Freedom Division, which will be decided with a decisive game 5.

The Lancaster Barnstormers have tied their series with the York Revolution at two games apiece (all games of this series have been won by the home team). The Barnstormers scored 6 runs on 14 hits and their defense recorded three double plays to limit the Revolution to 1 run on six hits.

Game five is tonight in Lancaster.

Damn good game! The Barnstormers took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd and would hold that lead until the Revolution scored in the top of the seventh to tie the game 1-1. The game stayed tied into the top of the 10th inning, when with two on and one out, a tough hop got past the Lancaster second baseman, allowing a run in on what could have been a double play. The wheels literally fell off for the Barnstormers then as a total of four pitchers could not stop York from plating three more runs and taking a 5-1 lead. Credit to Lancaster as they made it interesting in the bottom of the 10th, getting a walk and single before Terry Tiffee bombed a three-run home run. This came with two outs and York closer Dumas Garcia came in to get the third out on a strikeout.

After a day off tomorrow, the York Revolution will face the Long Island Ducks for the Atlantic League Championship. Game one is Wednesday in Long Island.

    Atlantic League Championship Series

    Ducks take game one

The Ducks bullpen did not give up a hit in the final two innings and they made there single run, scored inthe 3rd inning, stand up for the victory.

Atlantic League Championship - Game 3

After taking a 5-0 lead by the bottom of the forth, York saw Long Island put their own five spot on the board to tie the game in the top of the 5th inning. The Ducks could not stop the Revs from scoring four more runs and York pitching allowed only a single run in the top of the 9th after the 5th to take game three. They now have a 2-1 lead in the series and are one more win away from clinching their second straight Atlantic League Championship.

Atlantic League Championships - Game 4

York Wins Atlantic League 2011 Title

The York Revolution claimed their second straight Atlantic League championship today with a 6-3 win over the Long Island Ducks. After the losing the first game of the series, York proceeded to win three straight games to take the title. Down early 2-1 to the Ducks, the Revs tied the game up in the bottom of the seventh and then plated 4 runs in the bottom of the 8th. The Ducks attempted a comeback in the top of the 9th, but could only manage one run.

The Atlantic League has now seen two straight back-to-back champions: the Somerset Patriots won titles in '08 and '09 and now the Revolution have done it in 2010 and 2011.

They where not going to win with Colina batting .160, House 0.167, Esquivel 0.190, J-Rod 0.148, Navarrete 0.125 in the post season Only Binick and Padgett hit above 0.300.
Maybe next year. I sure hope that Binick and Colina get a ST invites for 2012. Maybe even House. Reports where that Mike Loree got an invite to Pirates ST, I can confirm that report. I had spoken with him abit after a game when I was graphing.
