I wouldn't label Hal Chase as a utility player. In his 39 games with the Yankees in 1913 (before being traded to the White Sox), he played 29 games at first base, 5 in the outfield and 5 at second base (despite being left-handed!). He was their primary first baseman until the trade.

American League's 50th Anniversay celebrated at Fenway Park in Boston on May 15, 1951. This photo was taken on the state house steps in Boston. 31 of the 36 living players, managers and umpires from the first year(1901) were there.
Ted Williams hit his 300th home run and Nellie Fox hit is 1st big league home run in the real game of Red Sox vs the White Sox on May 15 at Fenway.

Thanks, Gary. Good call on Billy Maharg, just got done reading about him. Thanks for pointing it out.

I saw a grainy photo of "Maharg" in a Black Sox book years ago, for some reason it stuck in my head and it definitely looked very much like the man in the photo above. I also seem to remember that Maharg/Graham was a boxer at some point, like Abe "The Little Champ" Attell.

I also noticed a "Van Burkleo" in the Copper Kings photo, wasn't there a well hyped prospect by that name 10-20 years ago?
