Don Mattingly to play "Mother Ginger" role in Nutcracker

    http://www.courierpress.com/news/201...-send-holiday/

Scroll down through the article to read a few mentions of our great team's leader. He will be playing "Mother Ginger" in a local production of the Nutcracker. I may try to take my daughter to this production, and if so, I will give you a full report on the skipper's performance.

Here's a pic from our local paper of Don Mattingly at a Nutcracker rehearsal.

    bhss89,
I had read your post before and seen the pictures but at the time I could not respond. thank you so much for sharing this with us. Love it! So did you take your daughter to the production?

You know what, good for Mattingly! It's great to have someone of his stature promoting the arts in his community. I'm not being sarcastic here. This story may just seem like a bit of trivia to many, but I see this as a selfless way of giving back and attempting to get people into something that they might not otherwise have an interest in. If he's not too "proud" to play Mother Ginger, maybe more kids or even adults that never thought of attending a ballet, might think of doing so now. I always respected him as a ball player and I respect him even more now.

I am sure he had a lot of fun with it. I know he expects to catch some flak at Spring Training, but it is cool to know that the players are so comfortable with him at the helm. I was not able to attend, but a friend told me that it was a lot of fun and really well done. One of the small dancers even performed in a Dodger uni!
