So I guess there's about an 80% chance of Crane changing the name.

They need to change their players, is what they need to do.
They call me Mr. Baseball. Not because of my love for the game; because of all the stitches in my head.

I say they should call themselves the Rustlers. A good "old west" name that harkens back to the wild days of the late 19th century. The Astro name was good, but it "jumped the shark" the day they went away from the rainbow warrior uniforms, and it should be left in the National League (the franchise itself should remain in the NL, but that's another story) Rustlers would be the "fresh start" of moving into the AL after 50 years of NL play. Besides the "Rangers vs Rustlers" rivalry goes back a long way

they became the astros, when they move into the astrodome
and now their nickname can be the juicers since they play in minute maid park
What should their name have been when their ballpark was called Enron Field?

That would be the coolest name change by FAAAR. Light blue hats with the oil derrick on it. The light blue script outlined in red with light blue socks. Bud Adams would likely not allow it.

Terrible. Would rub dirt on the dying spirit of Houston Astros Baseball, thanks to the league switch.

I'll vouch for 3 pro teams to overhaul their nickname, that's it.
                        Houston Texans >>> Houston Oilers
                        Washington Wizards >>> Washington Bullets
Minnesota Wild >>> Minnesota North Stars

So you want two unrelated franchises to negotiate for naming ratings from other franchises. The Tennessee Titans and Dallas Stars own the rights to those names. The NHL is not going to have two teams named "Stars" and "North Stars".

The other, of course, will never be done, because guns are one of the focuses of evil in the modern world. What the Wizards have done with their current re-branding is as good as it's going to get.

                            I have some ideas:

                            - Houston Knights (think of the New York Knights from The Natural)
                            - Houston Comets (name of Houston's defunct WNBA team)
                            - Houston Colts (original name of Astros, minus the .45)
The Mets have the best, smartest fans in baseball.

I see no reason why the name "Houston Astros" doesn't compare very favorably with any if not all of these suggestions. The only reason I could see for changing names is the decline of the US space program.

The Astros fans are getting screwed over here. Houston is one of the stalwarts of the National League, even with the last few years factored in. Don't make matters worse.

The Brewers should move back to the American League but I hear they have friends in high places.
