I will make no other comment because I won't be able to post without using deliriously joyful expletives of happiness!

What are they going to do about the logjam at 1B/DH when VMart returns? I can't imagine Victor will be able to catch very much or Miggy will be able to be passable at 3B.
I'd guess that they'll try to trade Martinez when he's healthy.

    Miggy bats 3rd, Fielder 4th?

(I also posted this in the Tigers forum, sorry if the duplication bothers anybody)

WOW! Congrats Tigers Fans. Fielder and Cabrera- does it get any better? And thanks for taking him out of the NL!
Per Tom Verducci of SI- only four pitchers originally signed by the Mets franchise have won more than 15 games in a season for them: Koosman, Seaver, Matlack and Gooden. Will another name join the list soon?

Compared to the Pujols deal, the Tigers got a bargain.

Compared to the Pujols contract yes, but the contract still stinks.

What's bad about it? The length? The fact they're throwing a lot of money at a player whose conditioning is suspect? The fact it practically renders the $50 Million they gave to Martinez null and void? The fact Comerica is not a HR-hitters park?

I am going to be optimistic here, but I am kind of wary about the signing, too. They needed another big bat and they got it, ahead of several other teams.

I don't think his power will be stripped by Comerica Park since he's such a strong guy, but bigger (as in body mass) elites players generally decline more quickly than your average elite player. You''l be lucky if he's worth anything at all towards the middle-to-the-end of the contract.

I don't think so. Pujols is a 6+ win player. Fielder is maybe a 4 win player.

Does that include bonuses or are they additional?

And I thought Soccer players were overpaid...
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you,
You know we couldn't live without you
Red Sox, you are the only only only!

Compared to revenue brought in, are they really?

For a short-term fix, this one will stick around for a while. What are they going to do with Victor Martinez when he does come back?

I like the addition of a much-needed bat as a Tigers fan. If only they pick up a lefty for the rotation . . .

I don't know how this deal is structured, but it's conceivable that the Tigers could have signed CJ Wilson and Jose Reyes while paying less per year in the first year or two. This would have filled two needs instead of creating a future logjam.
