The Dust Bunnies may be willing to trade their #1 pick (#7 overall) in this year's draft. Such a deal would leave the DB with no picks until the 4th Round. Our most likely need would be either current value for 1980 or pick(s) in 1982. Would be willing to pick up salary if necessary. Any idea considered.

--I never would have guessed that Leon Durham would be the best player to debut in any season, but I also had him graded as the best position player in this one.

has there been a change to the way ops+ is being calculated. baseball reference numbers for ops+ are different now than they were before

Appears to just be a bug. The numbers are the same if you go to the batting page as opposed to the general player page.

I had him and a pitcher graded about the same, and this draft is much, much weaker for position players than pitchers, so Durham was a pretty easy call at #1. If the other guy doesn't go at #2 I'll be pretty shocked.

Yep I had Durham as my top position player as well which surprised me.

Lew already said he would be taking "the other guy" at #2. Although that may have been over at the 1901 thread.

Nope, it was in this thread. I too had Durham as the top pick in this draft, and by a pretty decent margin over any other position player. So, I guess I'll go with my second pick. Young kid from the Mexican League, doesn't really look like a baseball player, kid's name is Venezuela - huh? Oh, wait (confers with aide). Sorry, that's a country. The kid we're drafting is

I didn't think it would happen but I was hoping that Valenzuela might fall another spot. I'll take Harold Baines with the 3rd pick.

I had Durham and Valenzuela rated A, and Baines A-. This is exactly the order I would have taken them. Now things get interesting.

I would have actually considered drafting someone other than Baines if there would have been someone lower on the list that filled a need on my roster. I am content with the OF'ers I have on my roster through 1982 and could have passed on Baines. Unfortunately the drop in talent at my positions of need was too much to let him slide.
