I'm going to post these two questions here, and also over in the General Discussion thread because I think these two issues need to be settled prior to me making the first pick. I'm also not sure that everyone has seen the draft thread is up yet.

    1. Is it permissible to trade positions in the league formation draft for future considerations? A couple of owners have approached me about trading the top pick in the league formation draft. I was under the impression, form previous leagues I have participated in, that this is not allowed for the formation draft. I know it is always allowed for the rookie draft because that is an annual event; however, as the formation draft is a one time occurrence I thought our positions here were "locked in" and can't be traded.
    2. How are players who actually were rookies in 1901 going to be treated - as formation draft players or as rookies? If I recall correctly, when we created the CKL all 1961 rookies were treated the same as players who had been in the league for a dozen years. That is, they came in at the formation salary scale, NOT the rookie scale. The big difference is, however, that as I understand it everyone in the P2P League will be free agent after their initial contract is up, and won't be eligible for the RFA rule (other than the top two if you choose to designate them), whereas in the CKL we got to keep our original players as long as we wanted, because they got an annual raise.

Opinions thoughts are requested and welcomed.

--I don't see why you couldn't trade draft position. I know I made several trades in the CKL start up draft (trading future rookie draft picks for picks in that draft). I believe Rich did say that there would be no rookie status for players in this draft, regardless of whether they were real life rookies or not. You can get RFA status for your first 2 picks in exchange for letting them hit the market after 5 years and the rest of your picks will be UFA at the end of their term of service.

Yes Rich stated that the initial draft no player would receive rookie status.

The Angels are shopping their 1st round pick (#6 overall). Not looking to move out of the 1st round, just willing to move down a few slots. Any teams with interest please feel free to PM me with a purposal.

OK, as long as it appears to be OK, the Express are offering the #1 overall pick. I would be looking at switching places in the first round with additional compensation. If you have any interest, PM me. Note that what I would be looking for in compensation would depend on your position in the draft.

Tough to decide who to take with the top pick in a draft like this, but three guys really stand out in this group. I decided to take the guy who plays every day, has the most PAs over his first eight seasons, and is still widely ranked as one of the top ten players ever. The first player drafted in the P2P Keeper League is:

              wagner1.jpg wagner2.jpg wagner3.jpg

              HONUS WAGNER

The Express choose to sign Wagner to an eight year contract, with the understanding he will NOT be eligible for the RFA rule.

Hey, that card on the right looks like the one I found in my grandfathers attic !!! I wonder if its worth anything ?!?!?!?!?!

The Inmates take Nap Lajoie and sign him for 8 years. (If its good enough for Lew...)

Hey, that card on the right looks like the one I found in my grandfathers attic !!! I wonder if its worth anything ?!?!?!?!?!
Probably not much Ed, but I'd be glad to take it off of your hands for $100 just because I like you, man!

its got to be a great feeling to be able to say 'I'm building my team around Honus Wagner'

Kind of similar to when the Knights had the second pick in the CKL formation draft in 1961, and Mark was able to say "I'm building my team around Willie Mays".

Yeah, it's a good feeling. It'll be fun to see how he does, even if the Express don't win anything.

Sorry for the delay in making a selection but the Tigers have been in negotiations for the last 24 hours regarding this pick. The Tigers and Spiders would like to announce the following trade:

The Spiders will received the Tiger's 1st, 3rd and 4th round pick in the 1901 draft.

                          The Tigers will receive the Spider's 1901 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick, 1903 2nd round pick and 1905 1st round pick.

Rich will confirm. If anyone else wants to trade their #1 pick in 1905, the Tigers will listen to offers.
