This team also seems to get up to play the good teams and sleep walk through games against lesser teams. Might as well go for the sweep today, get your brooms out. Have fun at the game RaysFan 98!

No TV telecast tonight, but the bats went silent again, plus Matt Moore did not pitch well either. We do not match up well with Cleveland, and the last few years, they seem to play us right before the All Star break and clean our clocks. Longo now sounds like he may be out till September now. Having his bat out of the lineup has pretty much secured our fate this year. I wouldn't be surprised if we are sellers at the 7/31 deadline if we fall further in the division standings.

I think they should trade longo this team can't be this one player minded he is so injury prone last few years.

There no one on this team or in the minors that can replace him and do what he does, when healthy. Plus you don't trade him when his value is the lowest, like it is now. He's also got a very good contract, team payroll wise. He worked on his core muscle group so much this offseason to prevent oblique injuries, and now the hammy has bit him worse. Sometimes muscle bound athletes are too muscle bound for their own good.

I suppose just very frustrating how mediocre this team becomes without him.

Good comeback win against a pretty good team. Time to rest up and heal up a bit, then get right back into the AL East fire against the Red Sox on Friday.

Another yawner of an offense. We can't blame this all on Longo not being in the lineup. Scott and Pena are providing nothing but strikeouts and the occasional HR on offense. Upton is still Upton, Zobrist is having a slightly down year. Jennings may still be playing hurt, or perhaps this is what he truly is. None of the others deserve to be starting every day, but it is what it is. Still don't like Derek Shelton as hitting coach, but I don't see us being more than a .500 team by the time it is all said and done.

    From draysbay.com today:

This was the fifth consecutive start in which Shields has allowed four or more earned runs; the previous three he was able to last seven innings. It was also the fourth consecutive game in which he allowed 10+ hits, the longest by a Rays pitcher since the immortal Tanyon Sturtze in 2002.
We are now fading in the wildcard race and are not going anywhere without Shields.

Good pickup of the Tatman, Ryan Roberts, and a nice debut for him tonight. Price looks solid, looks like I didn't miss too much. Still hovering around the .500 mark and we need to pick it up on offense NOW, if we have any chance at the wildcard.
