Price picked a bad night to have his worst start of the year. ESPN must have been touting him for Cy Young and he gives up 5 runs early

I've been watching baseball a looooonnnnngggg time, and I have never seen 2 consecutive games end on an outfielder throwing out the tying run in the bottom of the ninth at home plate in a collision with runner and catcher. At least we were on the winning end of one of them for a change.

Something must be wrong physically for Ricky Romero to suck so bad this year. Thankfully, the Rays were able to take advantage and score runs today to keep pace with those amazing A's and Orioles. 3 game series with the Yankees coming up, I feel we must take 2 of 3 to have a chance to keep pace with the others. And the Tigers/White Sox division loser is right behind us in the wild card race. Looks like another sprint to the finish this year.

One down and two to go. Their lead in the division is 1 to the O's and 2.5 to us. That would be some shock if we both finished ahead of the mighty Yankees. Cobb vs Freddy Garcia tomorrow night, hopefully the good Cobb shows up again.

Why he had to drag Madden into it, who knows what goes on inside that insecure little man's head. He was obnoxious as a ballplayer and insufferable as a manager. You only have a few more weeks to put up with him, you would think.

Just keep your hands off of Davey Martinez

These few weeks are going to seem like an eternity to us Sox fans. Trust me...we never wanted this guy. We knew he was bad news. I have friends who are die-hard Met fans who sent me sympathy messages when he was hired.

We have no idea WHY he brought up Maddon but I did get a chuckle out of Joe's response. Valentine will never talk to anybody.

When the Sox come to The Trop, I'll probably have one of the many "FIRE VALENTINE" signs out in Section 141. Boo the heck out of him all you want. You will be joined by us Sox fans in the booing.

You can't imagine the absolute Hell we've been through with this self-absorbed media clown...

Eventually, you ARE going to lose Davey..some team will grab him as their skipper. Personally, we want Francona back

Chris Archer called up to start in his place

1-1 game tonight in the bottom of the 9th. I would love a walkoff win right about now.

Looks like we will need another walkoff tonight, offense scuffling again.

I saw a thread somewhere that said the Rays pitching is so good was because they sucked for so long and had a lot of high draft picks. To refute that, in today's Tampa Bay Times, it showed the rounds of the draft our 5 starters were picked:

David Price #1 overall pick 2007
James Shields 16th round in 2000
    Jeremy Hellickson 4th round 2005
    Matt Moore 8th round 2007
    Alex Cobb 4th round 2006
    Jeff Neimann 1st round 2004

Price is a clear stud, Neimann you would have to say has been a bit of a disappointment for a 1st round pick, the rest were passed over by all 30 teams for at least THREE rounds!! That's a huge credit to the front office. Previous front office wasted first rounders on Dewon Brazelton and Wade Townsend for example.

We need to win today because we go on the road for series which will decide our season, @ Baltimore and @ New York. We should know where we stand for a playoff chance by this time next week.

Not a good showing for the start of a crucial road trip. Matt Moore didn't have it, and neither has the bullpen.

2-2 bottom of the 8th, can't afford to let another one slip away. We need someone in that lineup to take charge. Kind of nice to see all those Orioles fans in their brand new t shirts and jersies in the stands. Their attendance had been Rays-like until September when they all jumped on board when they realized their team was going for a playoff spot. Peralta gives up a double to Wieters, here we go again

I like that McGee guy in the BP. really nice stuff.
I think walks are overrated unless you can run. If you get a walk and put the pitcher in a stretch, that helps, but the guy who walks and can’t run, most of the time he’s clogging up the bases for somebody who can run. – Dusty Baker.

During last night's game, the announcers said we had the same record as last year after x number of games, but we were 8 back in the wild card in 2011. Well, we don't have the Red Sox free falling down to us, or any other team like that this year. We are the ones free falling now, and the Orioles look like the team with the 2012 version of karma. Excuse me for not feeling like we have a shot, but this series feels like the beginning of the end for us. 9 pitchers today and they did the best they could, but our lack of offense will be what the fans remember most about this season. We can have the best pitching staff in baseball, but without an offense, it doesn't matter how good the staff is.
