Great deal for both Andrew and the Pirates. I like this guy a lot and think we've only begun to see his potential.

great job by the Pirates. He is terrific.
Per Tom Verducci of SI- only four pitchers originally signed by the Mets franchise have won more than 15 games in a season for them: Koosman, Seaver, Matlack and Gooden. Will another name join the list soon?
McCutchen is a high level talent. He has the potential to do everything extremely well except, perhaps, throw. His arm is okay, nothing really special. He's very quick and fast, and I think can be a more efficient base stealer than he has shown. PNC hurts him a bit when he tries to pull the ball too much, and he also gets into some bad habits- he's much better off hitting straightaway.
Three years ago I said he reminds me a lot of Eric Davis. I still stand by that. If healthy, I see McCutchen being a .290- .310 type of guy, with regular 25- 30 HR power.
By the way, the Pirates actually have him for 7 years, if they choose. They have a team option for 2018 at about $14.75 million. If McCutchen pans out, that will seem like a real bargain.
