White Knight, it was a very well-pitched game, and of course we want him to do well.I just don't think that he will, and I'd rather see a young guy like Phelps get a real chance. I fear that Andy will be inconsistent, then get injurured.
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Yankee Stadium. Here are the lineups for todays game...

He's certainly better than at least one of our starters. Our rotation is so weak he may be better than four of them. We'll see though, I know he's no kid.

Hughes may have started to turn things around. Last 3 outings he's about 20 innings and pitching to a 2.75 ERA.

Andy certainly was good his last outing. Let's see how he fairs against AL hitting.
"After my fourth season I asked for $43,000 and General Manager Ed Barrow told me, 'Young man, do you realize Lou Gehrig, a 16-year-man, is playing for only $44,000?' I said, Mr. Barrow, there is only one answer to that - Mr. Gehrig is terribly underpaid."- Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio

Thought he did well against the Royals. But they are the Royals. Except Hosmer and Moustakas and Butler and Gordon rest are easy outs.

The naysayers don't like to admit they're wrong. I'll take it a step further. He's the ace of the staff.

    Hgh Andy guilty.

    Clemens not guilty.

Cheater Andy should be tested weekly by MLB.

Time for a perjury indictment for HGH man his flip flop under oath changed everything.

This thread isn't about accusations and the past, it is for Yankee fans discussing Andy Pettitte. Take your hatred elsewhere.

No accusations need to be made. HGH Andy is a self-confessed cheater, who injected performance enhancing drugs into his body.

Every time he pitches MLB should test him, he should pay for the test out of his own pocket with every result publicly disclosed.

He used it to heal from an injury. It's no more cheating than Tommy John surgery.

They also don't test for HGH yet.

Bingo. Why can someone use one treatment but be vilified for another. Big deal.

    He must miss Manny.

So surgery to correct an arm injury is the same thing as injecting an illegal substance into your body to enhance performance with no injury.

What's next the convicted felon x 2 who paid a gambler belongs in the hall of fame with HGH Andy while Pete Rose cannot get in?

It shouldn't be illegal, and it isn't in certain circumstances. It didn't enhance anything, he was weakened with an arm injury already and it got him back to normal with faster recovery. It has its uses. Rose is a crook who may have bet on (or even against) his own team. He is the worst form of negativity.

Shilling used steroids or he would not have been able to take the mound in those playoffs.

But those were ok because someone liked the sound of that name.

But it was illegal for HGH Andy and it did enhance his performance because it got him back to normal with faster recovery time as you said.

Cheating is cheating. Just like Rose cheated and the convicted felon x 2 hired a gambler to dig up dirt on a player he wanted to tarnish because the convicted one did not like the contract he gave him.

Bottom line HGH Andy should be on MLB parole, every time he pitches he has to be tested out of his own pocket with the results published on MLB.com

He fails one test (same as any player even in Boston) every contest it's a forfeit of that game, the loss of a top draft pick for the next three years, a five million dollar fine for the organization and the players contract is immediately terminated.

Getting back to normal is now cheating? I give up. Just make believe he never got hurt in the first place. Same thing. Or is staying healthy cheating too? Why not ban surgery too? Tommy John surgery is said to make it better than before. Total cheating.

What part of Tommy John surgery is not illegal do you not understand vs putting banned substances into your body to be healthy or for an advantage?
The only thing more comical about his taking illegal substances is his flat out flip flops and the fact he hid in the backroom a few years ago when everyone else had to appear live on television.

The title of this entire thread- in and of itself- proves how incredibly (read: sickly) prevalent the coastal bias is in baseball...particularly pointed towards NY. It conjures lore and infuses effusive, ongoing, and ultimately very much unwarranted hype and sophistry. Pettitte is just one of dozens who got nabbed; his record is (and stats are) much better than they should be, because of the rotations he's been placed on. On a .500 or small market team, you people wouldn't even remember him beyond referencing him obliquely in a discussion of some other Yankee.

If Pettitte had come up in the Mariners or Padres farm system, nobody here would give a ****, would hardly raise an eyebrow...much less wear jerseys, get nostalgic, and carry on threads containing hundreds of posts on the guy.
