Randall needs to follow Jurrjens down to the minors and the Braves need to finally give a spot in the rotation to Medlen, while you stretch him out you can piggyback Hernandez on him that way he isn't going directly into 80 - 100 pitch games.

I watched the game last night. First Braves game I saw this year. Did they get rid of the tomahawk on the jersey?

Alternate uniforms for weekend games at home. Recreating the look they had from '63 to '68.

Why is Michael Bourn still leading off for the Braves against left handed pitchers?

Bourn has a career .290 OBP against left handed pitching with a .245 OBP against left handed starters in 2012 and a career .313 OBP against tonight's starter Cole Hamels. In contrast, Mets leadoff hitter Kirk Nieuwenhuis has a .375 OBP against lefty starters, albeit in only six games. Why is Fredi Gonzalez using a leadoff man with such a low OBP?

That was a real gut check of a game.

All in all, I would've preferred to hold the 8-6 lead and hang a loss on Halladay but it's hard to argue with the ultimate result.

Who else is shocked with the Braves right now? They are first in the NL in runs scored, and are 13th in ERA!!! Completely unexpected, but I do expect the offense to regress and the pitching to continue to improve. Can't complain with the results however.

They might not finish first in offense but this is less of a fluke and more of a case of having everyone healthy and productive at the same time. Most of these guys who are producing are the real deal.

This is true, however I can see guys like Bourn or Hinske regressing as the season goes on. I'm just thankful everyone is hitting well right now and not one player is carrying us.

Fun fact: Freddie Freeman leads the majors in hitting foul balls.

Do any of you guys think the Braves will look at adding a starting pitcher either by trade or free agent signing? I mean adding Ryan Dempster (veteran on last year of contract) or Roy Oswalt might be what it takes to really solidify not just their playoff hopes but hopes of going deep as well.

    It wouldn't surprise me.

I swear I think I heard someone say, earlier this year when he was loose and teams were sort of kicking his tires, that Oswalt had always wanted to pitch for the Braves. If we could sign him to a reasonable contract, I'd be happy to have him aboard.

I know as long as he has had a NTC in his contract with Houston the Braves were the only consistent name that was always a place he would waive it for, the main reason is the fact he is from Mississippi (IIRC) and always wanted to pitch around his home in a Hudson like fashion.

Wait, Fredi brought in Venters, Wilson, and kept Hinske at 1st taking Freeman out of the lineup and putting Wilson in the 3rd slot. Unless Freeman is injured or Fredi had a mild stroke in between innings 2 of those make no sense at all.

Freeman was having vision problems in his right eye.

I am having real doubts about Venters' viability as the main setup guy.

Venters recently has been struggling with command as he has been missing high with his fastball, last night was a combination of bad luck (swinging bunt and past ball) and facing the wrong hitter in Brandon Phillips who is a good low ball hitter. I agree though that someone like Medlen should be getting more chances at the 8th depending on who is coming up.
