Oh lord, PurebaseballFan launching his mindless attacks. Some things never change. Are you still calling for Chipper to be traded or released? I miss the vibrant, polite community we once had before the darkness came? It is certainly no surpise that only two people are posting here now.

That did seem quite random. I don't post much because I'm usually unsure of what to say. Sometimes, I think it has already been said.

I will say this, though: I am a little tired of calling Fredi an idiot. It feels like it's beating a dead horse. Can we at least give him credit for batting the pitcher in the eighth spot on occassion and having the guts to pencil Chipper in any spot in the order other than third? Those were two significant things Bobby Cox would have never done.

Still not over that, okay. I already said I was Wrong about that a few times yet you are the one that comes into this forum and attacks a poster. If you want to have an actual discussion then I will gladly do so but coming here every few months to post some random attack at me for something, that I will once again say I was clearly wrong about and have admitted as much, is doing nothing to actually keep the forum alive and only paints yourself as childish.

Also please don't act as the old veteran/protector of this forum as there are for more active members (not including myself since I would take breaks from this place) who have done a lot to keep this place active.

I understand that so I will stop that and I will give him credit for not batting Chipper 3rd.

Well, I'm not changing my user title, at least not for a while, but I've liked the recent lineups more.

Havent posted on here in a while, but Im always reading what you guys are saying. Id like to say that I dont think your "mindless" PBF. That was kinda uncalled for especially since it concerns someone who knows alot about the braves and posts on here all the time. cbenson, we all get frustrated about our team and may say things about what we would like to see the franchise do, but come on Cbenson, this is a forum where we should be able to discuss things, not criticize others. To me it shows a little unintelligence to critize others rather than debate about the topic. If we didnt say what we felt, then this would cease to exist as a forum, where opinions are supposed to be shared.\

Oh and I love the "polite" comment...looks to me like i only saw one person being abrasive.

The Braves have signed Ben Sheets to a minor league deal, nice low-risk signing.

Is something wrong with Brian McCann this season? Is he hurt?

He had a intercostal strain in late April and some think he may have rushed back from that (he took no time off) but if you look at his stats he just has a terrible BABIP at .229 with his career average being .295 so it wouldn't appear to be the start of a real decline.

Is anyone a little embarrassed that Dan Uggla is the starting second baseman for the National League? He's 9th in fielding and 10th in hitting, although he carries more power than most of the others. His on-base percentage isn't too bad either.

What do you mean by "fielding" and "hitting", exactly?

I see that Uggla is 10th of 21 in qualifying OPS in the majors which is pretty good. If you use UZR/150, Uggla is 7th among all qualifying second baseman which is a HUGE step up for him.

All this despite a .220 average. Not bad.

Not really, other then Aaron Hill the 2B field is pretty much even so if anything is sad then it is that Hill didn't make the team. The NL team in general had some pretty sad choices and Uggla isn't even the worst starting choice, if anyone should feel embarrassed it is Giants fans for electing Sandoval over Wright and Posey over Ruiz, Posey isn't even the 2nd best catcher in his division if you look at WAR as AJ Ellis has clearly outproduced him and Montero is ahead of him as well. Furcal is also a pretty terrible choice to start though even he isn't anywhere near as bad as the Giants players.

Tony La Russa is the other one who should be embarrassed, I mean how long did it take for Bourn to make the team yet Jay Bruce was on the initial roster. I get 1B in the NL is extremely weak but Lahair as the main reserve, I guess Tony only watches NL Central games, is absurd at least with some other bad choices you can argue that their value is tied to their defense or that their triple slash lines are more "sexy" but Lahair doesn't even have that going for him as Goldschmidt is better then him in every way. The pitching staff on the whole isn't bad but two choices stick out in Papelbon and Hanrahan, Papelbon would have been fine with if Greinke had made the team but Hanrahan makes no sense. He isn't the sole player representing his team (like Huston Street) and even if that were the reason there was a better pitcher on his own team in James McDonald. If the NL somehow wins this year it will be thanks much more to luck then actually having the better "All-Stars".

Hopefully Redmond will get some kind of a shot to play in Cincinnati. There was just no room for him in Atlanta.

Ben Sheets takes the mound today! I'm interested to see how he performs. It's been a couple years since his last major league start.

I can't tell if Sheets pitched well today or Mets hitters sucked.

He threw the ball very well, with control and command.

He certainly did. It was very fun to watch!

Second crummy start in a row for Hanson, this one on a night when they needed him to come up big. I'm not liking their chances to gain any ground this weekend.

Or hold any, at this rate.

    Tastes like chicken!

Count me in as one of the many who had to eat some. This doesn't beat Conrad's grand slam, but it's close!

Chipper's 3rd pinch hit homer. He nailed it pretty good. Do you think he saw that first pitch comin'?
Okay son, that's Hank Aaron in RF, Eddie Mathews at 3B, Felipe Alou at first, and some kid named Torre behind the plate.

Ben Sheets pitching well for Atlanta makes me sad. I wanted the Mets to sign him.

This is what I wrote on October 15, 2011:
