I don't have a god, really. So maybe my godless prays went nowhere. I'm sure there were some real prayers though. It just sucks. If you look at the AL east in the last few years, it's unbelievable how hard the injury bug has hit us compared to others!

And in those injury ridden years the Red Sox have still done pretty well considering all the injuries. Im confident that with a healthy team, and a pinch of luck, this team could really do well.

It's a surprisingly lame article. Usually Kepner is better although not as good as Belson (But most certainly better than the ridiculously bad Murray Chass). There is no single team in major league baseball that would dominate the league when 4 key players on the DL. Not the Tigers, not the Rangers, not the Yankees, none.
Watching Derek Jeter make 40 defensive plays and then watching Adam Everett make 40 defensive plays at the same position is sort of like watching video of Barbara Bush dancing at the White House, and then watching Demi Moore dancing in Striptease. (Bill James)

Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power. If he can continue to hit .260 or so, he'll be useful, and he probably has a future as a backup infielder. (Keith Law)

Lol As long as the tool keeps hitting HR's he can say whatever he wants. But at the same time the Rays need to keep him on a short leash because he is bringing a bad light onto us when it isn't deserving. But Happy Birthday Fenway! And How was tito's Reception?

You would think on a day like today with the ceremony and all, this team would come out with some spark...but no. Another ho hum, lack luster, non inspired effort from the home town team. Pretty dismal and kind of embarrassing if you ask me.

way not play lavarnway in LF as long as crawford and ells are injured?

I know he is no outfielder but adam dunn and manny ramirez have played LF. LF is no defensive position and he could bring some offense there. what do you think?
I think walks are overrated unless you can run. If you get a walk and put the pitcher in a stretch, that helps, but the guy who walks and can’t run, most of the time he’s clogging up the bases for somebody who can run. – Dusty Baker.

Lavarnway is REALLY slow...so he might not be the best option in LF. The Pawsox have been playing Lars Anderson in LF to give him (and the team) more options.

Yeah, he's maddeningly inconsistant...but I'd love to see him get some time in the bigs to see what he can do. He's obviously blocked at 1B by Gonzo, so making LF an option for him is a great move all around.

I have no interest in dealing with the Cubs and I have no interest in Marlon Byrd. I am sure the Cubs will fleece us in the deal. It is hard to beleive that we dont have anyone in the minors to bring up and plug into the OF for a month until Crawford is ready. What about Alex Hassan or Nava?

Several sources are reporting that Marlon Byrd has been traded to the Red Sox along with cash (a pro-rated portion of what he'll make this year) for Michael Bowden and a PTBNL.

Since the Sox do need outfield help and they probably would have lost Bowden for nothing if they tried to pass him through waivers, this is probably a solid deal.

    Our bullpen stinks.

I'm thankful I didn't select this Yankee game to buy tickets for. I taped it so will probably only watch it until the score reaches 9-0 and then delete it.

It's just hard to watch. Offense is hitting, pitching stinks. Pitching is dealing, hitting stinks. Now Robertson and the other guy and game over.

On the bright side: Valentine is gone soon.

Watching the game, jeez. Fenway is ready to lynch Valentine. I get he has heat on him from his actions the last few days, but what could he do this game? His bullpen isn't getting the job done.

The boos are starting to get to Bobby V. After he gets booed (again for the third time) he walks off and tips hit hat to the crowd. Kinda bush league and i am finding it hard to defend him any longer. Dont look now, but its 15-9

Robertson is unavailable and you won't be seeing Mo now unless the Red Sox score some runs....
