Interesting to see that the Phillies let go three coaches after their season finale yesterday, one of them being bench coach Pete Mackanin, who Cherington interviewed last year for the managerial gig. Word is that Ryne Sandberg may move up to replace Mackanin with him eventually succeeding Manuel in the Phillie dugout.

I know Samdberg was mentioned as a potential candidate last year but Cherington never talked to him. If we don't do the right thing and bring Tito back, I would look at Mackanin or Sandberg.
Man, do I *HATE* the Yankees!!!!!!

Well, that was it. 2012 is over and there are more questions coming out of it than there were going into it. One thing we know is that the Red Sox will have the no. 7 pick in next year's draft. 20 years ago (1993) the Red Sox had the no. 7 pick and selected a HS OFer by the name of Trot Nixon.

A bunch of other no 7 picks over the last years:
    2012 Padres: Max Fried
    2011 Diamondbacks: Archie Bradley
    2010 Mets: Matt Harvey
    2009 Braves: Mike Minor
    2008 Reds: Yonder Alonso
    2007 Brewers: Matt LaPorta
    2006 Dodgers: Clayton Kershaw
    2005 Rockies: Troy Tulowitzki
    2004 Reds: Homer Bailey
    2003 Orioles: Nick Markakis
    2002 Brewers: Prince Fielder

Watching Derek Jeter make 40 defensive plays and then watching Adam Everett make 40 defensive plays at the same position is sort of like watching video of Barbara Bush dancing at the White House, and then watching Demi Moore dancing in Striptease. (Bill James)

Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power. If he can continue to hit .260 or so, he'll be useful, and he probably has a future as a backup infielder. (Keith Law)

Yup, getting a high draft pick is probably the only positive thing about 2012 for the Sox, hopefully were able to draft a good player that will help in rebuilding the team.
